Delmonico's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Overall, 8 of 10. Our server knew the menu thoroughly and was very attentive. All of the seafood portions of our dinner were excellent. Our steaks, were both over cooked and served warm, not hot. My wife ordered hers mid-rare, and mine medium. Mine was medium but barely warm and my wife's was cooked medium. It should be called Blue Point 'South as it seems the real specialty is seafood. I've legitimately had better steaks at Longhorn for almost half the price. The Oysters and Bisque though...awesome.
I am 62 years old and this is the first review I have ever written. In the past, I have voted with my wallet. If the food and service were good, I would return. If the food and service disappointed, I would take my business elsewhere. The food was so terrible, I feel compelled to try to save as many fellow diners as possible.
Both myself and my wife ordered the "special," which was blackened grouper on a bed of wild rice. Both were completely tasteless and the grouper was not blackened but overcooked and saturated with oil. With tip and a couple of drinks our total was about $140.00. We would have had a better dinner if we had stayed home and had Mrs. Paul's fish sticks and tater tots.
we will never be coming back. used to be our favorite steak house but the chef changed and all went down hill a few years ago. we keep trying to go back to give it another chance. this last time the seafood tower which i thought couldn’t be bad was awful. the lobster salad only tasted like lemon juice and the crab legs weren’t legs at all but claws/shoulders and i couldn’t eat any of it without getting shell in my mouth. the service was horrible. we were there with 2 other ppl when we were asked what we wanted to drink i said i wanted a bottle of wine and the guy just walked off and didn’t ask anyone else what they wanted. then it took 20 minutes to get the wine. he comes back and i told him it was only for my husband & i so he then asks them leaves again without opening the wine so u ask quickly if he could open it but he had to go find a wine opener which is something every waiter carries with them. then he takes our orders and after each order he takes the menu and walks away to put it down. . then he keeps checking on us every 10 minutes it was so annoying . worse experience- will not be returning
Favorite restaurant!! Love the food and the service is always great. For the first time kind of disappointed in that the NY strip i always ordered was not the quality I’ve become accustomed to along with the temperature being off ie my medium rare was much closer to medium well almost well
Having lived several years in Cleveland, we have always made Delmonico's and Ken Stewart's our restaurants of choice. Now that we are "out of towners" again, we always make a point to visit one, if not both, when we come back. Such was the case over Thanksgiving, when members of the family got together this past Sunday evening. Unfortunately, this restaurant has taken an obvious turn for the worse, in at least two regards. The service was unbelievably over bearing. In the past, our servers have been knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. During our recent visit, the server was not fully acquainted with the specials or the menu and needed to return to the table several times to provide updates and/or corrections - constant interruptions to our conversation. Additionally, while I do understand that some guests can be obnoxious regarding "upcharges" for substitutions, it was particularly irritating to continually be instructed on what is and is not included with a particular offering, along with it's pricing consequence. My feeling is that if someone is concerned about an additional $3 for a change in their salad selection, they are probably not going to be frequenting Delmonico's. Lastly, the food. Per my sister, the salmon was properly prepared and was very good. Per my daughter and wife, both of whom order the Steak Christopher, while the flavor was nice, the steak itself was tough and not as warm as it should have been. The garlic mashed were also unexceptional. As for my steak (a 16 oz. Delmonico), it served medium, as requested, but without a bit of charring, as also requested. The cut was also very tough and was served at a less than desirable temperature. To the manager's credit, he did remove the charge for my steak, which was much appreciated. The coffee, creme brulee' and flourerless chocolate cake were all excellent.
Next visit to Cleveland I will have to opt for Ken Stewart's. I do hope Delmonico's can return to their past excellence.
Great atmosphere, outstanding service. The food was very good, although a little on the high end price-wise for what I got, but the atmosphere and service were figured into the price. A fantastic place for a special occasion, although not something I could afford to do on a regular basis. It made the special occasion I was celebrating, all the more special.
Went there with my husband to have a relaxing evening. We both ordered the same thing, Chicken Marsala. We also had a wedge salad which was quite good and the bread was also very good. However, the chicken was bland and the Marsala Wine sauce didn't taste like authentic Marsala, but tasted more like dark brown gravy that had been doctored up with mushrooms added. The garlic mashed potatoes didn't taste garlicky at all. With the meal came 2 pieces of asparagus, which was very thick, although it tasted good. I know that this is a restaurant that specializes in steak, so I understand that the chef may not have done his best with the chicken dish, but it was one of the worst chicken dishes I have every had. We sat at the wall on the other side of the bar, and because of happy hour, the restaurant was very noisy. Not the relaxing evening that my husband and I had planned on, when you can't carry on a conversation with person across the table from you because of all the bar noise. Also, the lighting in the restaurant was very poor. We had to ask for a flashlight to read the menu. Would not recommend this place unless you are a "happy hour" person. Would definitely not recommend the Chicken Marsala.
I had the Delmonico salad. It was crispy & large to start. The bread was warm & fresh. My main course was surf & turf with broccolini. Everything was good except the lobster, which was over cooked & dry. A first for me. It was a lot of food & I couldn't finish it.
Great food. Although my steak was not cooked to order (med-rare and received med-well). Also, table to left of us sent both steaks back for the same reason.
For the price point I'd expect a better steak. That being said, everything else was terrific and the servers were fantastic.
We had not been to Delmonico's in a few years and had the opportunity to dine there again. Warm wood paneling, soft lighting, and great ambiance are perfect for a special occasion or a business dinner. Some conversation in the surrounding tables was boisterous at times, but the noise level was fairly quiet for the most part. Service is always outstanding and the wait staff stay on top of the water and wine levels during dinner. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Always a wonderful meal and great service my ultimate favorite server is James :) He is probably the best server there.I have a dairy allergy and he always is super accommodating :)I definitely love it there but he makes your experience all the more enjoyable:)
Overall a great dining experience and we will definitely return. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation time, but we were seated immediately. Our server was excellent and the food was very good. There were multiple appetizer and entrée specials available, and the two that we tried (Arugula Salad and Chilean Seabass) were delicious. There were a couple minor issues with the food (risotto overcooked and orange supremes not done correctly), but nothing major. Great place for a special meal.
Love the atmosphere in the dining area overlooking the patio. The salmon was an excellent choice, as well as the petite filet and lobster tail. All the dishes were prepared as requested and served promptly. Our server, Ann, was friendly, polite, and attentive. We will definitely return for another visit in the near future and have recommended Delmonico's to our friends and families.
Pricey but delicious. We knew going into Delmonico's that it was a high end establishment requiring business casual apparel. The service was excellent and our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. It was very quiet and not busy since we dined at 4:30 on a Sunday. We even received a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating our anniversary. We drove about 30 minutes to dine there. We felt that it was worth the drive and price for a once in a while special occasion.
