Amazing service! Delicious food even for a vegetarian like me! We got seated earlier than our reservation and the host was kind enough to offer us some beverages.
Primarily a steakhouse, Delmonico offers other attractive choices. However, when I ordered the roasted half chicken, my server told me to expect it to take 45 minutes, something I never encountered before when I ordered the same dish elsewhere. So I switched to the seven ounce filet which was quite tasty and beautifully cooked. The mashed potatoes also were excellent because they tasted like real potatoes without excessive milk and butter. A respectable Caesar salad began our meal, and an okay butterscotch pot de creme concluded it.
Service was fine without being overbearing. The restaurant offers only beer and wine but their selection overall seemed well considered.
It was our first night in Rapid City and my husband wanted a steak. The steak was cooked as ordered and a huge portion. I ordered scallops with risotto. The scallops were large but slightly over cooked. The risotto was not very good to my taste and really didn’t pair well with the scallops. The fact that I left over half the plate should have indicated to the waiter that there was something wrong. The wine was served room temperature. The waiter was friendly but he was definitely trying to rush our dinner along to turn the table and not very observant.
Overall it was an okay experience - I was expecting more.
We split the delmonico and it was delicious! Our server Cheyenne, was very sweet....trying to handle more tables than she probably should have. Large party upstairs that kept them all hopping. The decor and ambiance were relaxing.
Our server, Chyenne, was wonderful! The food was good and the ambiance was nice but a little loud. They only serve Wine and beer and they had run out of a few entrees the evening we visited.
We dined here on our 30th wedding anniversary while staying in Rapid City on our summer RV vacation. It was the perfect place to celebrate. We had an 8:15 pm reservation so I called to try to get in earlier but nothing was available. Then they had a cancellation & called to let us know & we were able to get in earlier. The food was delicious & our server, Jessica, was outstanding! She really helped make our evening even more special. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer, then French onion soup, and the salmon & filet for our entrees. Dessert was creme brûlée which was very good. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Had a fantastic dinner tonight at this excellant restaurant. The host Drew was incredibly accommodating as our flight was delayed. I had the fous Grau which was excellent and my wife and I had the 7 once filet but done in the same preparation as the beef tips with corn bread and jalapeño jam. Started with the onion soup and finished with the butterscotch pudding.
I’ve eaten at Guy Savoy in Paris and Per Se in NYC and enjoyed this meal as much as those restaurants.
Just a really good dinner!
Wonderful meal, service and server!
We had a great time at Delmonico Grill. Food was outstanding. Loved the dry aged ribeye. Salad was small but delicious. Service was outstanding as the Host was so generous with his time. We were really pleased and highly recommend!
Delmonico Grill was a great place to host a small birthday dinner. The food was fantastic — had the best French Onion soup I’ve had in a VERY long time. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was just right. The steaks are a bit on the pricey side, but they have a variety of offerings on the menu that are affordable and delicious. All in all a great experience.
Amazing food and amazing service. We’re locals who brought family from out of town to dinner and all had wonderful things to say.
It was very nice. The only thing I would say is to buy the 16 ounce steak and split it.
I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because some of our favorites were cut from the menu. My husband and I got the bruschetta as an appetizer and we both got the filet for a main dish. He got the gazpacho, which was the soup of the day, and really good, and I got the house salad. The food was great and service top notch. We will be back. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.
Real food and great steak. Definitely a must eat in Rapid City to avoid the fried foods that most cafes seem to suffer from.
7 oz medium-rare filet was excellent and our server “Bernardo” was superb - very professional — this restaurant holds its own and is better than most steakhouses in NYC by far — Pleasantly surprised!!
We were told to try this place by some people we met on vacation. They said the filet was great and it was awesome. I literally cut the filet with a fork.
Hands down the nicest restaurant in Rapid City.
Everything was wonderful, from start to finish, every aspect!!
We live 100 miles away and find it's well worth the trip a couple of times a year to visit.
Fine dining; superb service; expertly prepared food.
The service was not what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The hostess was probably the most cordial in the restaurant. I felt as though she was treating the waiting guest better than what those seated were receiving. I know this because after booking a month out, I felt I was still stuck with a make-shift table next to hostess stand by waiting patrons, yet there were clearly other tables available. To start, it took a while for the waitress to even greet us and get our drink order, then I felt as though I was basically being rushed through our meal. The worst part is you are nickel and dimed on everything, I.e. my wife ordered a wedge salad, and was charged extra for bacon and then for blue cheese crumbles. Any other wedge salad in the country would come with these as the definition of a “wedge salad”. I feel they take advantage of the definition of “best steakhouse “ when in truth, there is really only one other option which I will try next time I’m in town.
Another exceptional meal. My wife had the scallops, and I had the 7 ounce filet with asparagus. Both were prepared perfectly. Excellent environment.
Excellent food & service
Went there with my wife. They put us at the top of the stairs which wasn’t that bad, but the staff was in another room constantly clanking dishes and talking loudly. Food was good. Steak I wouldn’t say is worth $70 but, it’s the best in town for sure. Would recommend for a date night.
We visited Delmonico Grill, Rapid City, SD while on vacation. The restaurant is right on Main Street and easy to find. We didn’t have any trouble parking on the street. We were greeted warmly and seated in a private booth. Our server was excellent...very attentive and informative. My wife ordered the filet and I ordered the 16 oz. dry aged ribeye. Supposedly the dry age beef is more tender and juicy (costs $15 extra), so I tried it. We both had the French Onion Soup and it was excellent! The filet was excellent, very tender, juicy, and delicious. My ribeye arrived and looked exactly like a New York Strip. I told our server and she said they don’t serve New York Strip steak. The steak had the exact feel and taste of a New York Strip. The taste was ordinary and it was a bit tough especially for a ribeye. I would not recommend it for the premium price. I told our server and she asked if I wanted another steak. I declined. For dessert, we had creme brûlée and homemade berry ice cream. The creme brûlée was excellent. The ice cream was a bit icy and not very sweet. Overall it is a good place. I would just not order the ribeye/New York Strip.
It was our 54th wedding anniversary and we are traveling from California to Minnesota.
Was so good we ate there twice in four days. Great food, friendly servers. Outstanding
Always great food and service.
We were visiting Rapid City for 4 nights. I had made reservations at 2 restaurants in RC before leaving on our trip. After going to Delmonico’s, we asked our server Jessica to make reservations for a second evening and to make sure we were seated at her table.
The food and service were outstanding and the ambiance was quite elegance.
Jessica, thanks for two wonderful evenings.
Bob and Phyllis
Best steak in rapid city. Service was outstanding
We went for our 40th anniversary. We enjoyed The Delmonico. A steak for two. It was excellent.
Outstanding in every way! Filet mignon cooked perfectly. Appetizer, salads and entrees divine!! Highly recommend!
28th Wedding aniversary
Ordered an overpriced 16oz overpriced ribeye for $61.00. We always get our ribeye med but the waitress said they tend to under cook so we ordered med well and it came out well done.
The manager apologized and was willing to redo the steak but we had already waited long enough. I told the manager I was not pay for the steak but will pay for the wine. The waitress brought the check for the wine as they were charging us for the sides. Can you believe it!
I laid down the cash for the wine and we walked out discussed and hungry!
Delicious food. Decent beer and wine list but no other alcohol. Was a bit disappointed in that we asked for a booth, told they were all reserved, and then watched them remain unoccupied for the duration of our visit.
Always a great place to eat. Steaks are fantastic.
Great experience! The service was outstanding and the food excellent. We are there two nights in a row because our first night reservation had an issue. We were able to get in at the bar and Sarah took great care of us. High recommend!
Once again, outstanding food at Delmonico Grill! Service was friendly and efficient. If you're in downtown Rapid City, I highly recommend a dinner at Delmonico's.
This is the place to go if you want an outstanding dinner, wine and service. Always have great servers and management team. I would highly recommend to anyone.
