della Voce Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant has potential, as the service is professional and friendly. However, we waited a very long time for our food which wasn't as fresh as it should've been for the price. The meatballs were reheated and somewhat tough. The $16 macaroni was small and looked like it had been prepared too early. The salmon was flavorful but a very small portion. I was disappointed, especially since the restaurant had great reviews. We won't be going back.
Had a wonderful evening in Manhattan while traveling to see the eclipse. Waitstaff was amazing, just can't say enough about thier attention and how hard they worked making sure we had a nice evening. Food was very good and original. I had the shrimp risotto, which I really liked. My wife had the steak. Veggies a bit past perfectly done, but still quite good. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
This restaurant is operated by a sister-brother team and longtime servers who go out of their way to engage their customers in a fine-dining experience. The food was inventive and amazing without stretching into the unrecognizable. Jalepeno & cilantro risotto with blackened shrimp, for instance, was just different enough from your standard Americanized Italian menu and absolutely delicious. Tasty salads and a layered bruschetta were big hits too. Decent wine list given the market size.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the subtle blends of flavors in everything that we ordered. The food is authentic, using real garlic in the garlic butter, olives in the olive butter, real scallops in the scampi, etc. The chef uses tricks to bring out flavors in everything, even including the aged balsamic vinegar. This is a culinary delight to an educated palate. My dad was a sous chef, and this restaurant was an undiscovered gem for me. Not to mention that the service was extremely prompt, personable, and efficient. We wanted for nothing, and we will be returning.
The food was very good, and the restaurant is beautifully done! My wife and I found it late one evening just exploring downtown and we were caught by the sign for gellato. Our server was friendly and funny. He told us about brunch on Sunday and we enjoyed it so much on that evening we came back for brunch that same Sunday and invited 7 friends!
That was quite a different experience. The food was still wonderful, but the service was lacking greatly. I ordered coffee with cream and sugar, I got the coffee, then I got the cream and I had to ask for the sugar again and by the time I got the sugar my coffee was cold (we were a party of 9 in a place with only three other smaller parties). That's not awful in and of itself, it was the fact that a different waiter late in our meal brought up the fact he was gay and how gay people were going to take over the world. Starting with the children, then all the cute animals, after that the women, because where cute things are the women will be then of course where the women are the straight men will follow. It was just a bizarre encounter. It made our guests uncomfortable, and was irritating because our get together turned into that waiter's soapbox platform.
We will return, because honestly the food and atmosphere itself are awesome, the one waiter just needed more training, the other waiter needs to know that unless it's a political rally, he can leave his soapbox at home.
Went for Mother's Day and the drinks were really good. I had the chicken marsala and I didn't like it at all. Rice wasn't cooked at the way. Green beans were okay. My husband food was better. Our food was $76..So decent price for two meals and two cocktails. The seats were hard. I just expected a bit more to be honest. I would go to just have drinks
We like the food and drinks at della Voce very much, but the menu does need to be updated, because there is not a huge variety of choices. It's also quite expensive, so we don't go very often. It's a nice place and attractively decorated with good food, so we tend to pick it for special occasions. But it is so noisy that it's impossible to have an intimate or even a normal conversation in there. There are too many hard surfaces, and the owners would do themselves a huge service to take care of the sound level in there. I forget about the noise level, until I walk into the restaurant every time, and then I remember that's one of the reasons we don't go there too often, besides the cost. The only other place that is that noisy in town is the Texas Roadhouse, but that is marketed that way, and not as a place for nice and romantic place like della Voce is portrayed.
My spouse and I had a poor experience the other night - granted we picked a bad night with other events going on, but we were seated in a lousy location, and the response from the owner was that we were the only table for two that night, and they were concerned about the noise level if they seated us in between large tables. I would grant them that, but we've been seated in between large tables in our previous visits, and the noise level was the same. As I mentioned before, this is a very noisy restaurant, and I would assume it would have had a better ambience and noise level, given the image they seem to be trying to achieve. We didn't stay for dinner that night because of the table, and the fact that we had made reservations ahead of time, and that didn't seem to make a difference. We did leave feeling that our business was not really valued because we made a poor choice in not having a larger party that. I'm not sure at this point that I want to go back
Love, love, love this place. One of my top places to get italian food. Great, and helpful staff that not only takes your order but can hold a conversation by getting to know you and highly recommend taking their recommendations on menu items. I will ensure to tell everyone I know about this place
