In its rustic and charming eatery, Della Terra in Buffalo serves contemporary American cuisine in its location within the Embassy Suites Hotel. Small plate options, which make excellent appetizers, include the battered artichoke frites with lemon crème fraîche and the steamed clams with chorizo in white wine. Lunch was to celebrate an employee's retirement after 25 years. I was hesitant to suggest this restaurant as I had not been there in over a year because of the food and the time it took to get our meal. Steak was cold and the lettuce was brown. Things didn't change in a year. I won't be going back, nor will I recommend to others.

We chose Della Terra again because it has metropolitan flair. We were looking for great food at reasonable pricing on Valentine's Weekend prior to hearing Chris Botti with the BPO at Kleinhan's. The valet parking was especially wonderful on such a cold, wintry night. Our waitress was most attentive and pleasant as were all the staff. We were return customers and we will dine there again.

We decided to try Della Terra recently while we were both off. We were greeted and seated quickly. Pleasant looking restaurant. The wait staff was attentive. The bread sticks were very good, and it went down hill from there. My wife order the beef on wreck. The roll was thin and feel apart wth every bite. The roast beef was sliced with the grain and was very stringy. The flavor was fair. My burger was overcooked and overly compacted which made it hard. The waitress offered to refire but we were short on time. The flavor was a little strange. The fries and onion rings were frozen so you really couldn't get them wrong. While we were eating, it looked like someone was delivering food from Jims Steak Out to the kitchen area.

There are too many good places in Buffalo to eat. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them that day.

We selected Della Terra because we had heard good things. The night started out well, we were seated promptly and orders taken. The first course was lobster bisque, one of our favorites... This is where the the night got interesting. All 3 bowls were served cold. We had them sent back to be redone and guess what, still cold. We were told by the manager that they found the issue, the bowls were cold, but you would have thought that the prep cook would be sure that a redo was corrected...

Oh well... On to the entrees. The prime rib was served as ordered,but even though a large cut, it was average. The salmon was good. The desert was the best part of the meal, served nicely and tasted good. Our server did a great job making up for the kitchen once she got into the evening. They did take the soups off the bill so I did not have to deal with that.

Would we go back, nope, this is a one and done. I could have accepted some issues as it was New Year's Eve, but we were there at 9:00 and they were nowhere near full, plenty of open tables and staff. This was a miss, diners beware....

Booked reservations for Christmas evening, party of 3. When we pulled into restaurant up to valet parking, attendant just walked away and into restaurant - therefore leaving us to find our own parking (should have been sign #1 to leave). Was seated by our waitress, given water and said she would be right back to get our drink order. After waiting 15 minutes, we asked another waitress to find ours so we could order. She finally came over, apologetic and took our order. 2 caesar salads as appetizers and then our entrees. Shortly after this, a couple of 2 was seated right next to us. There order was taken almost immediately, by a different waitress. That couple was then served their entree before our salads! It was almost 30 minutes from when we placed our order that we got our appetizer. I assumed that our food would be coming any minute since it was almost a half hour, but I was told "no, the kitchen is backed up" When we received our salads, a table of SIX arrived and sat directly behind us. Again, 15-20 minutes elapsed after we finished our appetizers, waitress said just a few more minutes. A few minutes later, the manager and our waitress came up, the manager apologized and said the kitchen was behind. As soon as he walked away the table of six was served their food! At this point, we were ready to leave but we had invested so much time we decided to stay. Although our entrees were good, they weren't even hot! and in fearing how long it would take to get our meals back, we ate what we could and wanted to leave. The staff was apologetic, gave us free drinks, offered a discount and a free dessert, but it was too the point where there was no saving this experience. The kitchen was clearly not backed up if tables were being served around us. Just a shame to be treated as if we were oblivious to the guests around us. May have just been the day, but I would not go back or recommend to anyone I know.

We enjoyed our meal at Della Terra. The filet was superb and the service was excellent from the greeting, seating and throughout the meal. The wine list had some unique choices and the Cabernet from Chile was very good. we like the valet parking also.

Della Terra changes its menu seasonally. The food quality is good and there are many specials which change frequently. We dine here regularly and find all of the dishes to be high quality and well prepared. Service is above average to excellent. Bartenders are excellent - pour good quality drinks. Wine list is good.

The specials always have some nice surprises. Recently had Blackened Red Snapper with a Chipollte BBQ sauce and cheese grits. It was nails. Salmon dish with fresh risotto was awesome.

Do not let this being a hotel based restaurant deter you. Della Terra delivers - good, seasonal food - well prepared with quality service.

The service was outstanding . For an advertised evening upscale dining it was too noisy, kids running around and screaming at a nearby area, other diners in sweatshirts and jeans it just is not what we expected. Caesar salad made at the table and fish entree special were very good, but my scallops tasted 'old' and 50% of the scallops were undercooked . I did not return my dinner as the sauce and gnocchi were tasty and the server was super. As we are trying several restaurants in the area before our evenings at the theatre, I probably have to say, I will not return to this one.

Our food was excellent but overall we weren't impressed with the experience. We knew we were dining in a hotel restaurant but had hopes it would be more separated such as not seeing hotel guests as they arrived. Also the hotel bar is part of the restaurant so even though there were only a few tables the bar was packed and loud. Our server had to get our drinks from there where the bartender was presumably busy and we did not get very prompt service. I will say again the food was very good, exactly what we wanted and though it took a long time everything was hot and fresh when it arrived.

menu lists fresh pasta of the day and meatballs. asked what the pasta was that day. told it was spaghetti, both husband and I ordered that. when it was put in front of us the waitress said it was not spaghetti but fettucini. Neither of us like the wide noodle, but we let it go. big mistake. did not eat it, basically paid 23.00 for a couple meatballs. would have ordered something else if we were told, and should have been told. before it is served.

Loved the relax feel of the place. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place after a day of touring and we found it here. The food was good for a cool rainy evening. The service was good though our server was inexperienced and seemed a little overwhelmed.
