Delizie Ratings and Reviews
The waitstaff at Delizie is always wonderful! The food is amazing and they have a great wine list. My girlfriends and I dined here together and had a great meal. The waitstaff gave us glasses of moscato on the house at the finish of our meal. Highly recommend this restaurant for any dinner occasion. Reservations are good because they are a smaller restaurant. It’s cozy too!
Amazing as always. Tried their eggplant parmiggiana special and it was absolutely fantastic, not grease and not oily as well.
Also had their night special swordfish carpaccio which was very delicate and tasty.
My fiance had porcini risotto and from her face I could say that was extremely happy with it. We’ll be back and recommend to friends :)))
The food was great and the service was good as well. Until the waiter asked us to leave because he needed our table for a party of 10 that showed up without reservations. We weren't very happy about that. You never ask a well paying customer to leave. Not sure If I will go back there or recommend it to any of my friends.
What a delightful surprise! I was amazed to learn the restaurant has been there over 5 years - had not noticed it before. We had an excellent, un-rushed lunch with great service. Rolando was knowledgeable, attentive, and personable. We asked for recommendations for pairing Italian wines we did not know with our food and he did a really good job, even offering tastes without being asked. My husband's risotto, an ample serving for lunch, had him wishing he had ordered a larger portion. My linguine with fresh clams was EXCELLENT- homemade pasta, quite a few tender little clams and, as requested, made on the spicy side. And if you ever enjoy panna cotta, be sure to try it Here- really fresh and light and delicious. Thumbs up all around. We will return for lunch and dinner and bring friends next time.
We went to Delizie for a double date on Saturday night. We were able to get a reservation and modify easily (thanks Open Table). Our server started out very helpful, but as the evening went on, it was like she got distracted. She brought us our dessert menu and then vanished. 15 minutes later someone noticed we were still sitting there with them and apologized and took the order. We got our desserts and then literally had to flag her down long after we had finished. The place was not that busy at this point, I do believe she was focused on something else outside of her work. The food was good and came quickly and hot, overall it was good, but our experience with our service made it less than awesome.
One of our favorites of the many Italian restaurants there seem to be in San Carlos and Belmont. Had the gnocchi de mar and it was fabulous! Loved the artichoke appetizer as well as the burrata & speck. Was very bummed that they did not offer their eggplant appetizer as it used to be a our go-to and a differentiator from the other restaurants. But it has been a year since I've been here so the menu may have changed months ago... Desserts were also good. This was a friends night out and we lingered a long time and they were fine with that. No rush. Also good place for date night. Quieter than the other restaurants and very cozy decor. We'll be back!
Delizie is a small, quietly elegant family-owned Italian restaurant serving cuisine influenced by the family's Calabrian roots. We have dined there over 30 times over the years, drawn back by the consistent high levels of service, warmth, and of course the wonderful dishes. House-made pastas with braised meat sauces are our favorites, but the seafood dishes most reflect Calabria and are wonderful. The modest wine list offers a thoughtful selection of distinctive regional Italian reds and whites as well as some familiar domestic varietals. Definitely save room for homemade desserts, and maybe a dessert wine you've never tried before.
There are lots of great restaurants in San Carlos, but I always seem to end up choosing Delizie for a nice evening. Why? Because they never disappoint. This time I had Vitello di Marsala, an unbeatable preparation with rich mushrooms and a mellow sauce over perfectly cooked veal. My wife had salmon pasta, a mix of smoked and fresh salmon, so the flavor didn't overwhelm. A glass of montepulciano made it perfect. And dessert! Perfectly light and flavorful without being too sweet, a rare find. We'll be back many more times.
Fabolous restaurant! Had the butternut squash special Ravioli top notch. My fiancè had the cod stew which I tried as well it was fenomenal too. Great affogato & tiramisu. Their wine list is wonderful and most of wines are italians :)
Everyone here seems to be italian which is a plus. Highly recommended
The place is quite small for an average Italian restaurant. I ordered the spaghetti imperiali and it came out hot and delicious! Their appetizer bread and dip was also very tasty. However the tiramisu is so dry and bland - not freshly made. The tartufo de pizzo calabro was delicious! For such a simple meal for 1, the meal is quite pricey.
My wife and I try to eat at Delizie once a month. This is hands down the best Italian restaurant on the Peninsula. There are many Italian restaurants in San Carlos, CA, but this restaurant gets five starts. The menu is real Italian food. Sorry folks you will need find lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs on this menu. The food that is served at this restaurant is real authentic Italian food prepared by a real Italian chef. The restaurant is family owned and they are wonderful!
We made a reservation for my son's graduation for the family-- 10 people. They were the most lovely hosts, the food was not slow, and it was amazing. They took care of every detail, got extra pasta for a hungry little kid, made a special celebration for my son. We could not have asked for a more perfect meal. A huge thank you to Delizie for making a special day very special indeed!
I found this restaurant on Yelp and my girlfriend asked me to pick the dinner place for a girls night out. I was wooed by the cauliflower gratin and olive/pesto tapenade they serve with bread so I decided that we should eat there. I was NOT disappointed. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was great. Very interesting food choices. We told the waiter that we wanted to take our time and we sat there for three hours eating and talking while not feeling rushed at all. I would definitely go there again!
There are many fine restaurants in San Carlos, but Delizie is consistently my favorite. Excellent food, staff and ambience. I would love to dine at Delizie more often, but for the limited menu. I have food allergies so I can only enjoy a few entrees. Otherwise I'd be there more often. Highly recommended for excellent italian food and wine.
Great service by Rolando. Tagliatelle with wild boar meat was delicious. Bruschetta with the spicy meat spread was also a surprising hit. Coffee sponge cake dessert was a great note to finish the meal with.
Only ask is for them to warm up the bread, although that dipping oil they have is delicious and makes up for the cold bread.
A gracious and low-key trattoria (albeit with printed menus and with wine by the glass and bottle, rather than carafes.) We bring pets, and dine outside, so the noise level rating is meaningless; it is generally quiet inside. Try the baccala, quite difficult to find, and the Strozzapreti con Ragù di Agnello.
