Do not go to this restaurant if you have more than four in your party! It is a lovely, intimate environment much better suited for romance; not celebration. As a party of 8 including a few kids, we were treated dismissively, at best.
fabulous pasta, tried several of the dishes, loved the veal special, great service, would come again when visiting NY again
Food, Service was great. Very comfortable and although busy - our party had no issues with noise - would definitely go back.
This was my girlfriends first trip to New York and I wanted her to experience my favorite restaurant.
OUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ITALIAN IN NYC! Always a treat! Always very delicious!!!!
A fabulous place, great service, great food
Not cheap but well worth it
Very good meal and service, always have very good specials and my entire party enjoyed themselves
Our favorite Italian in NYC! Love the ambiance, food and service exceptional, always!
Excellent cuisine --- well-prepared, beautifully plated. Good attention to detail. Wonderful service.
We ate there several years ago and it was magnificent. On this trip, I would not say the same. The price of wine by the glass has increased, but so has the portion size, as I didn't finish my entree and last time we had room for dessert. We started with the lobster/angel hair pasta appetizer, and it didn't disappoint. My husband had a veal dish which he really enjoyed. I had a salmon meal with mustard sauce, and it was a little disappointing. The accompanying shrimp was wonderful, and while the mustard sauce was nice, the flavor got monotonous with so much fish. There were a few stalks of asparagus to eat as well, but I would have preferred a smaller plate or less fish and another accompanying item on the plate. The service was also slower than last time (though the restaurant was busier), but the biggest complaint may have been just how quiet it was. We were uncomfortable using our regular speaking voices, even with the little bit of background music being played.
I went here for my birthday dinner with friends. We set at the table close to restrooms/kitchen and my friend was wearing short skirt. She said chair cushion felt scratchy and towards end of dinner, she said her thigh was itchy. We didn't think much of it until we left the restaurant. She had so many bug bites!! Be aware of fleas on chairs!!
Food was ok but salty.
Very good traditional Italian food, friendly staff, good wine list.
We wanted a special night with great food and wine for a beloved visitor. This restaurant was perfect - in food, wine, service and ambience too.
A lovely restaurant with very good food and friendly staff. My only criticism was the staff should've been more attentive, e.g., filling water glasses and bread basket.
We have been going to De Grezia for many years and have always found the food to be excellent (we usually don't use the menu since we know what is available, other than the nightly specials). I especially love the pear salad and the veal dish. My wife did try something different last night and loved the lobster pasta, the best she has ever had. The staff always remembers our dietary issues (my wife prefers chamomile tea and I start off with a Pinot Grigio).
We were seated next to a noisy table in a half-empty restaurant. When I asked for a different table we were seated under a loudspeaker. The head waiter then tried to pass off a later vintage of the wine I ordered without saying anything. Throughout, the service and food was mediocre. I was badly mislead by the favorable Zagat reviews. No wonder the restaurant was half empty at 8 p.m. on a Friday evening.
It’s a lovely accommodating restaurant with excellent service and food.
Food was delicious and staff were great. Two of the people at our table had lived in Italy for 9 years and they said it reminded them of Italy, great night!
Excellent food, gracious and impeccable service. A very nice occasion.
Our absolute favorite in Manhattan! Fort is exceptional and so is the service.
The best of best... if you’re looking for old New York with easily the best Italian in the city, this is it!
Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, one of my favorite hidden gems in the city
Took a chance by picking from searching online and reading reviews. We hit a home run on this one. Excellent !!! Food was fabulous and so was service. Highly recommend!!
We’ve eaten at DeGrezia many times. We brought two of our daughters this time, and we all really enjoyed it. We will look forward to our next trip to New York.
Business dinner with my boss and his boss - extensive wine list which was welcomed by the big boss, who found his favorite Italian red. Good service, excellent food - antipasto to share was fresh and delicious, and the rosemary penne with veal and mushroom ragu was exquisite!
Pleasantly surprised by the low-key calm quiet atmosphere as an escape from St Patrick’s Day revelry. The food was delicious - chicken ripieno and gnocchi Gorgonzola were the dishes we chose - and ample portiins. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant is very attractive and comfortable.
Great restaurant. As spending the week end in NYC. Food was excellent
Seems tired. Been going for years but this experience slipped in both food and service.
Outstanding. Just Outstanding. Food was supper and great Italian wine. Service was excellent. Put this on your list to go to
A real sleeper!! Excellent food and fantastic service. Will be going back.
Attentive service, food is consistently excellent
Very high quality food. Outstanding dishes with very professional service
Our 2nd time & great again
always a wonderful dining experience
service the best
great place to have dinner if you actually want to hear the person or people you are with
have brought many friends here who go back on their own
Nice and quaint. Service was outstanding. Wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. Did not have vodka sauce on the menu. They made it for us and it was one of the best we have had!
Food was delicious and the prices reasonable.
We will definitely go back when in the city again!
So I decided to go to Degrezia for my first Valentine’s Date with my girlfriend and was not disappointed! While searching for different restaurants on google I was trying to find something that would foster a nice intimate setting where I wouldn’t have to yell over people or over music. When I saw Degrezia as an option I was a little hesitant at first. I saw that it had good reviews but wasn’t to sure about the ambience I was looking for. But I decided to take a leap of faith and BAM, perfection. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and courtesy. We were escorted to the seating area and the gentleman escorting us gave of the option for a seat in the main dining area or a private room (of course we took the private room). From there we were given our menus and the gentleman explained the days specials to us. When we placed our orders, the food came in a very timely manner and IT WAS DELICIOUS! (I highly recommend the salmon!). Then we ordered dessert and again it was great! From there they just let us enjoy our time, they not once rushed us like many places do but actually encourage us to take our time and enjoy ourselves. And we did! It was the best date and my girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves very much. You will not be disappointed coming here!
Felt rushed and food was nothing soecial
only knock on service was flagging someone for desert and after that the final bill. front end of the meal was very good back end of the meal service was below average
Great quiet unassuming place with amazing italian food.
Loved this place! You don't find many NYC gems like this. Quality food and ingredients.
