Went there for easy access for an event at the Pepsi Center and its great reviews. It was "m'eh".
They were out of brussel sprouts for the appetizer, and pork for the cubano. My wife's cornbread salad was pretty good, but not great. Same for my ribs. The malbec was very good. The "tiny pie" (mango-rum) sounded good, but I was expecting a caramelized flaky crust with ooey-gooey filling straight out of the oven for the scoop of ice cream to melt over. Instead it was a cold thick pie crust with mango chunks scooped in with some whipped-cream on top (and the ice cream off to the side).
Lots of fancy-sounding things on the menu, but the execution couldn't keep up. In a downtown Denver scene with lots of excellent (and comparably priced) restaurants a few minutes away by foot, it was a significant disappointment.
This is a cooking school live environment so every time a guest dines at Degree they could have a different experience. However, the students are committed to learning and to providing a good product to their guests.
Great place for pre-game dinner!
Great place to go before Avs game! Good food and reasonably priced.
Degree is always a great place to eat. The menu choices are good and the food comes out hot, fresh, and delicious. The wait staff is always so polite and caring.
Nice to have fresh, healthy food choices convenient to our hotel. Staff was efficient and courteous.
Degree is the restaurant for the Springhill suites. The menu is limited and well executed. It is about as expected for a mid scale hotel restaurant. The service was attentive but that may be because the place was empty. The deal for parking is good though.
Food and service was very good. A little pricey. Had a burger and they charge extra for cheese. I understand charging extra for 'special' cheese but not a slice of cheddar.
Good service and great food.
Ate at Degree before a concert at Pepsi Center. Convenient location, but more importantly, our waitress was amiable and gave us terrific recommendations. Mac-n-cheese and brussel sprouts? Delicious. Glad I made a reservation, as the restaurant is quaint with not a ton of seating. I will definitely return!
The hamburger was delicious and so were the fries! And such a great deal on the happy hour price! Service was friendly but seemed a little short staffed. Only one waitress to take care of the whole restaurant at 4:00 and it was busy. There was an additional waitress there by around 4:30 though and that helped a lot!
Overall it was great and the food was great. It just took a little long to get to check.
We had a great time before going to a Nuggets game.
Tasty Food and great service, in close proximity to The Pepsi Center.
This place is perfect for a great dinner before a Pepsi Center event! A true hidden gem with excellent staff, delicious food, and a stellar happy hour.
The ribs and the Pineapple Express cocktail were really good!
As a facility set up to train the future food service workers, Degree Metropolitan is a wonderful restaurant. We try to go often during the hockey season, the menu and specials offer new and different takes on food. Last night I had the ribs with White Pablano BBQ sauce, wonderful and my husband went with the Club sandwich, much better that others that he has had. We will be back.
Location is great if you're going to an event at the Pepsi Center. We chose this restaurant over Brooklyn's because it had good reviews. Because of that, I was a bit disappointed. We got there at 5:40 for a 6:00 reservation. They reminded us that Happy Hour ended at 6:00 pm, so we placed a Happy Hour order. That order took FOREVER to come out . . . . I almost thought they did it intentionally so we didn't qualify for Happy Hour again. Service was slow . . . . I actually watched some of the staff go outside for at least 15 minutes while we waited, waited, waited for our food to arrive, our orders to be placed, our water glasses to be refilled. We were convinced that when we finally got our food, it would be cold. It was not, but when there are only 3 tables filled in the restaurant, why is everybody so slow (not from being overwhelmed) We finally got our check paid and on our way by 7:10 pm so we got to the Hockey game in plenty of time, but really ?? . . . .1 hour and 30 minutes for bar food? Crazy. It's ok, but I wouldn't run back here!
We chose to eat at Degree with its close proximity to the Pepsi Center. The food quality was excellent, especially for a small establishment. If you’re in a rush to make a game, give yourself more time to eat here.
Yummy and interesting food with excellent staff. A little complex to find the first time. May need to add time to park. Great place to dine if you have a nearby event.
The restaurant is located very close to the Pepsi Center, however, they advertise they have $10.00 valet parking for events at the Pepsi center and this was not the case. The parking was reserved for hotel guests. We ended up parking in a public lot away from the restaurant and venue.
We were also told this was a part of the University hospitality program and our server said it was operated by Marriott. I liked the idea that money spent there would benefit a scholarship program, I am not sure that is the case.
Degree Metropolitan Food + Drink is now operated by The Springhill Suites Denver Downtown, employees are managed by the hotel and all profits go back into Metro State University. We apologize for the parking confusion, we will make sure we clear this up in the future. Thank you for dropping in, we hope you come back and join us!
Discovered this place by googling restaurants near Pepsi Center. Have been twice before Avs games. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Brussel sprouts are great!
I was looking for a place that was close to the Pepsi Center, as we had tickets for a concert. The venue was just across the street and the food was imaginative and delicious.
Kitchen smoke heavy at our first table, where we were seated with reservations in a nearly empty restaurant. We moved ourselves as staff was slow and not aware. Food was okay
They have tried to create some unique dishes, but the food ended up being greasy without special flavors. The sandwiches fell apart while eating them.
We chose this spot because of its proximity to Pepsi center. The menu is very pork heavy. Everything was good. Nothing I’d rush back for but very good and we’d definitely go back if we are going to a show at the Pepsi center. The service was OUTSTANDING.
First time there, so was very pleased overall. The only really negative was the music was way too loud. We asked if they could turn it down, but they didn’t. Really need to consider noise level for an enjoyable dinner.
Small but airy feeling environment. Food was good but felt the food and drinks were overpriced depending on what you ordered. One person added shrimp to their meal, $5 for three shrimp. Burger was cooked perfectly but there was a charge for each topping, $1.25 for cheese and $1.50 for bacon or anything else. There was a good selection of burger toppings though. The Bahn You was good and a decent amount of food for the price. Service was pretty good, attentive enough but not overwhelming, no offers to refill water until we were paying the check. Overall not a bad option for a meal before a show at the Pepsi Center.
After reading reviews, I was really excited about trying this restaurant - but walked away less than impressed.
The serving of wine seemed very small for the cost - more like a splash, than an actual glass. The glass was barely a quarter full.
As for food - the Brussel Sprouts were absolutely incredible! Simply fabulous. However, the Mac & Cheese was dry, and the hamburger under cooked.
Service left a lot to be desired - very slow and inconsistent. We had to flag her down a couple of times to come to our table, and needed to ask for refills on our water and drinks. We were never offered dessert - but because service was so slow, we wouldn't have had time to enjoy it anyway.
We then had to ask for our check - and take it up to the bar, because she never returned.
Ok, best benefit, quick ok food for a pepsi center event. Valley parking at the residence in for the event.
We stopped here before a concert at the Pepsi Center and wow! This place is a gem. The service was awesome, the food was delish, and the drinks were good. We were not quite sure what to expect when we first walked in - but we even went back after the concert. We had the brussel sprouts - these are the BEST and so different with the blueberry. Also had the Mac and Cheese and the Cubano. So convenient to the venue. Highly recommend!
I brought a friend to this restaurant before attending a concert. The food was very well prepared and the selection was good. The restaurant was busy and bustling, but the waiter took his time with us and was patient and polite. Overall, our experience was very good. My friend liked it so much he returned on his own for another great meal.
Degree was an excellent choice for dinner before the show. It exceeded expectations, but it is a training restaurant so if you have patience and that understanding it is great. Drinks all came out at different times and one was forgotten. Expensive chips and salsa with extras came out as only chips and salsa so we had to ask for the guac that was supposed to come with it. Food was all tasty though. Whole party of 8 enjoyed the experience and said they would be back.
It was a convenient place to go for dinner before a concert at the Pepsi Center. Reasonably priced Valet parking where we could leave the car through the end of the concert was a plus! The food and drinks were good, reasonably priced, and the service great! It's just a couple of blocks to walk to the Pepsi Center. Will do it again!
Wow, this was a great find!! We were looking for a casual place to go before the Broncos game that was in walking distance. We will probably go back next week before the next game! All four meals were fantastic!! The Brussels sprouts appetizer I could've eaten just for dinner. Large portions with reasonable prices. And the service was fantastic too. Can't say enough about this rare gem in downtown!
First, this place is impossible to find! The address is worthless to find. It is part of the Community Colleges and in one of their buildings with a very small sign outside. Next to s hotel there.
However once you actually manage to find it, the burger I had was delicious and my wife's salad was great. Fast and friendly service.
Very easy going, friendly staff. Our waitress Sierra was fantastic. Food was spot on (a couple little things missed but quickly remedied). A great value considering downtown dining. Highly recommended.
Great food with great service. It's across the street from the Pepsi center so it's perfect for a pre show or pre game gathering. Valet parking as too.
House wine during happy hour was excellent. The food was delicious. The server did not rush us! You need a reservation; people were turned away with no reservation but we were seated early. I will be back!
located in the marriott spring hill suites, on the METRO state campus.
only meter parking available, but prices were very affordable.
good burger and side salad, and chicken avacado club.
full bar too.
