First time at Deerpark. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The buffet style dinner was delicious-from appetizers to desserts. The turkey was delicious as were the sides! We plan to return to Deerpark on another occasion and would absolutely recommend to anyone.
Great place for a holiday meal. The prime rib was outstanding.
As always, a high quality meal. Look over the menu before you go because it is a smaller buffet than you might find elsewhere. Amazing g service - they are very friendly and stay on top of clearing and refills.
The food was really good and the service was great!
For $40.00, or any price over $15.00, really, this should have been a much better experience. The menu reads well, promising prime rib, shrimp, turkey-- yum! The best fare were the items on the appetizer table, a few creative salads and a pimento spread with crackers were best, with the exception of the extremely wilted spinach salad and the "homemade" pickles, which were limo and dehydrated. The turkey breast, too, was dry, and the supposed "prime rib" was very overcooked (not even pink) and looked more like a beef loin roast (NOT filet, about 5 inches in diameter), sliced in very stingy portions by an amiable, though silent, very young carver, who didn't quite understand that grownups might want more than a taste of meat. The shell-on shrimp were slimy and translucent, apparently frozen too long--or too many times. We left it on the plate. The potatoes were ok, but the butter was fake--some kind of restaurant "blend" that they make to stretch the budget--that was flavorless. The turkey gravy helped some. There was a very strangely flavored dressing with some runny liquid cranberry "sauce" to accompany the turkey that tasted ok, but come on--can't even something simple be done right? There was a table filled with an assortment of bread. It looked appetizing but was all stale, like the last call on a complimentary Holiday Inn Express breakfast buffet. We tried the pear and berry cobbler for dessert, and it was the grossest concoction we have ever tasted--pasty, undercooked, with macerated fruit, incompatibly mixed. Biltmore, Inc., can skimp on quality and hope that the pomp and awe of visiting the residence offsets the fancy-sounding but poorly rendered culinary offerings. It's a shame, really. After one visit, most do not return for the food, but wouldn't that be grand if they could say they did? Do better; you can afford it. We will not return.
I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my entire life. What a waste of $100.00!!! And that doesn't even include the $20 for a tip for a waitress that did not wait on me. I've had better food at the Golden Corral. And that restaurant is much cheaper. For this restaurant being on Biltmore property, I had assumed my expectations would be met or exceeded. They were not. The food was lackluster. My interactions with the man serving the main entrees was not positive at all. He was rude. There was no reason for him to be acting like a jerk. He acted like a self-entitled know-it-all. He made me feel so bad that I did not even go up to the main entrees after my second interaction with him. Not only was I disappointed but my fiance was disappointed in our experience as well. The only good things I have to say is that the mashed potatoes were good and the woman that was serving the desserts was very professional and kind. I will not be back. I made reservations weeks in advance to make sure that I would be able to have a wonderful dining experience on Biltmore property and that is not what happened.
The service & all staff were outstanding. When we requested an earlier seating, we were accommodated. A fan above us made the lighting behind it look like a strobe light on our table. The staff turned off the fan which solved the problem. Our waitress (Allie) was very friendly & made sure our drinks were filled & plates removed promptly. Other staff members stopped by our table to check that all was well. Servers were informative & friendly. The food tables were always full. We visited during a slow time, but we were impressed by the service. Unfortunately, our party of 4 agreed that the food was mediocre at best. Since we were there to eat, it was a disappointing experience. I want to emphasize that the staff was outstanding!
Atmosphere was excellent, service was very good and note that is a serve yourself buffet with some table service. The only knock is the food was underwhelming. I understand the restaurant is designed to serve large numbers of guest at the estate, however; hotel banquet quality / flavor was not what we expected.
The price points are 2x what they should be for this quality of food
Christmas with family. Good experience.
The food was absolutely amazing and delicious !! We will definitely be back
Greatly enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. Lots of nice choices although some of the items were empty during my visit. Breakfast items were in different areas and was a little confusing. Loved the salad area and the variety. Deserts were OK. Server was nice and reasonably attentive. It was a sunny and hot day for December and had to set in the sun. Over all a good experience and looking forward to returning.
it was great the waitress was very nice. the hostes and chefs was great
We always enjoy the wonderful food and atmosphere at the Deerpark.
One bothersome issue; there was a live musician performing close to our table. She played guitar, cello and sang. It is the Christmas season and yet we heard nothing at all appropriate to the season. The girl’s voice and vocal selections were poor and not up to the standards of the Biltmore. It actually seemed that the selections were her own composures and were so strange it almost sounded as if she made them up as she went. The cello sounded like scales and exercises! If you want to provide live music please give us something of quality worth listening to. (We are musicians). You have wonderful musicians performing in the house. We would expect something similar throughout the estate.
We were at this restaurant on December 2, 2018. We travel to Asheville about once a year and always try to eat at this restaurant. It has always served excellent traditional southern type food, in a gracious atmosphere with pleasant live music. Always a reliable venue and one that we have recommended to others.
Something changed this year.
First, there is apparently a leaning by the chef to now serve food with trendy flavors (or no flavor) . If I wanted to eat Kale or radishes or food with weird flavors, I would go somewhere in downtown Asheville to seek that out. The Biltmore customer is tradition minded and goes there for good, southern food. The deserts this year were all very disappointing as well.
Second, the meat carver will give you an "economical" serving. In other words, a paper thin slice of meat, so if you are hungry, you have to ask for more. He seemed hesitant, but did finally give me another thin slice.
Third, the musician and her music was awful and not appropriate for this venue. I would describe it her and her music as disturbing.
It was so disappointing that we would have a hard time recommending this to our friends.
We noticed changes to menus at other Biltmore venues also. The visitor will find bits and pieces of what they may have had before, but someone is clearly directing a change there. Our question is why would the Biltmore want to change their menus to be more like something else? They had a good product, so why try to "fix" something that's not broke? Now it is almost broke. I hope they can get the train back on the track.
We had the Sunday buffet. There was Prime Rib which melted in our mouth! The salad bar had many choices with fantadtic shrimp and so much ton hoose from. The desert selectuons were fabulous! Well worth the price of 35 per person!
It was very good and we enjoy it every time we visit Biltmore! I love the seasonal changes and the dining experience is always great.
Candlelight Christmas at the Biltmore
Absolutely a wonderful, enjoyable experience. A must!
Great atmosphere. Buffet offered good choices without too many options. Desert bars were perfect.
Despite having made a reservation, we were seated in the back hall. Service was very bad and disappointing.
This was our second time @ deer park. We took our friends for the lunch buffet and were not disappointed at all..again! We love this restaurant. The atmosphere is what I call casual elegance. The prime rib is one of the best I have ever had and I have traveled the world. The servers are gracious, attentive, not overbearing and friendly. The people at the food stations are all very knowledgeable about the choices. If you like great food, and a wonderful selection I would recommend this. My wife always gets her dessert first. This place scores a 10+ with us and our friends.
This place was beautiful and there were soooo many delicious options. Service was wonderful and our waitress went above and beyond for us. We had an amazing brunch!
I brought family & a friend for brunch. The food & service were exceptional. We will return
Really bad service, and the food quality has really worsened over the past 2 years. We won’t be back.
Deer Park Inn is a place we look froward to each time we visit Biltmore. Food, service, atmosphere are all excellent. Staff is very friendly. Service impeccable. Looking forward to next time we will in area.
We were drawn to the restaurant by the menu. Several items (sides) were great, dessert was great. Waiter was “short” with us and somewhat rude as if she was too busy and tired of guests. This continued for the two times we saw her. The signature dish - prime rib was grey, over salted, and barely warm. The other protein items were ok- salmon was dry - just a mediocre experience. Not biltmore quality we experienced elsewhere. The waiter however is what really cratered the experience. We stayed in the cottage and this was our first trip.
We had lunch at The Deerpark Restaurant and the food was good but it was a little expensive for lunch. You will need a reservation. Service was not as great as the other places we stayed and visited at Biltmore, but it was not terrible. Overall it is a very nice restaurant with good food.
The selection of food was great and the wait staff were excellent. Everyone was helpful and very pleasant and friendly. This was my first visit to Deerpark and would highly recommend it.
Buffet was amazing and kids ate FREE! Must eat here if you are visiting Biltmore
Wonderful place. We've been there many times. They charge the menu several times a year so we never get tired of it. All the dishes there are unique and original. We enjoy it every time we go.
My wonderful parents treated my husband and me to this wonderful buffet and we had a splendid time! The quality of the food and the presentation was outstanding! Everything was beautiful and clean. Not to mention the food was delicious! They have quite a spread - salads, meats, veggies, soup, breads, cooked veggies, pasta and many desserts! I particularly enjoyed the turkey and stuffing. I would absolutely go back to this buffet again and again!
We very much enjoyed our meal at Deerpark. We chose to have our main meal of the day early so we could take advantage of the lunch time pricing. Most of the same items, including prime rib, were available at lunch as are available at dinner. There is a nice mix of traditional buffet selections and speciality dishes. We were able to try some things we had never had before like the chickpea salad and quinoa burgers. Our server was excellent and helpful as we were deciding what we should do with the rest of our day. Thank you for a lovely meal!
We have had the opportunity of sharing Thanksgiving and other occasions with family and as a couple. All has been a great experience. We missed out on Thanksgiving this year but will try another time.
We are frequent guests at the Biltmore Estate staying a dozen times or more annually at the Inn or Village Hotel. We are also annual pass holders. We brought our children & their families to the Estate for the week of Thanksgiving this year as their Christmas Present! We had a great time! We were generally pleased with the food, activities, accommodations & customer services! However, the experience of Thanksgiving Dinner at Deerpark Restaurant was somewhat a disappointment! We arrived early & had made reservations via Open Table in August, but to our dismay the host did not have any recorded reservations for our party! I showed him the Open Table App reservation & the email on my iPhone to prove that we did in fact have a reservation for Deerpark... We had to wait about ten minutes to be seated which was fine! Our waitress was excellent & very helpful. Most of the food & desserts were delicious. I asked for sweet tea & got unsweetened! So, I just used sweet & low to fix it!! But, the sweet & low packages had been exposed to moisture & were hard as a rock & in chunks?? The turkey & ham was extremely dry & tasteless & left on my plate! My prime rib was fantastic! The Deerpark house made horseradish was the best I have ever tasted...it should be bottled & marketed by the Estate: it would bring in thousands in sales!!
Deerpark is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville & we eat there often! We ate there in August while attending one of the Estate’s concerts & the meal & experience was much better!
We were very disappointed, that as the Biltmore Estate food, activities & services are normally exceptional, that our Thanksgiving dining experience at Deerpark was mediocre!! Based on this year’s experience we will be eating Thanksgiving dinner elsewhere on the Estate next year!!
Expected more variety on Thanksgiving buffet. Drink service was slow. We were seated as far as possible from buffet and that was inconvenient. Much of the food was cold (food that should’ve been hot).
food was excellent family from out of town were very impressed with the food grandchildren enjoyed everything including the dessert table everything in the food area was presented very nicely and everything was constantly refilled the servers were extremely nice all in all a good day as usual at Biltmore
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanksgiving dinner buffet was excellent as buffets at The Deerpark always are. Good food and service.
The food and service were very good. The deserts were excellent as they went away from the store bought mini deserts from years past. The court yard used to be decorated fabulously, but not so much now.
The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was overly warm. Otherwise it was excellent. The food was very, very good even though it is a buffet.
