de Vere's Irish Pub - Sacramento Ratings and Reviews
The food was pretty good. Good for the price.
The service was terrible. When we ordered a bottle of wine for our group it took ten minutes to get it.
After receiving our meals the waitress never returned to see it everything was ok. I had to go to the bar and get the malt vinegar. We asked for an extra plate, it never arrived.
Won’t be going back.
This was my first visit to DeVere's and had an enjoyable experience. It was a hard choice to select from the menu as most everything looks good to me. The cheese board was a perfect appetizer to start with and the selection on the board offered high quilty cheese and meats. Will go back just for this appetizer.
The entrees all looked like winners, but opting for the Bangers and Mash was a perfect choice.
All in all DeVere's was a winner tonight.
This is a cute little pub, but the food choice was minimal. The only true gluten free food was a green salad. They were out of potatoes, so no shepherd's pie. After my friend placed her order, the kitchen informed her that they were also out of her selection. This was early in the evening. It probably is a good place to drink beer, though. And the server was first rate.
Never disappoints! Great food, great service and with our first visit for brunch, still fantastic value! Bottle of champagne and orange juice for $12, now that's a deal. And as always the group took an extra long amount of time to order because all of the food looked so good, and let me tell you: it WAS!
Was in town for one night, and wanted some comfort food. I came to the right place for the food! Unfortunately, smoking is allowed on the patio, so despite the balmy evening weather I sat inside, where it was a bit noisier. Still, the service was very good, and the Irish Stew hit the spot! I was disappointed with the bread pudding. It felt like a small piece of crispy French toast with some ice cream and bourbon sauce to hide it. Overall I would recommend de Vere's, though.
We were able to have lunch before attending the Community Center Theater. The service was great and the menu flexible for the 12 year old up to the 67 year old. We had one who was down to no carbs and only greens and she was able to find something tasty. I enjoyed the salmon salad and Irish soda bread while the macaroni and cheese was completely eaten by our youngest . They changed the menu from our last visit to keep things interesting.
My daughter and I had lunch prior to going to the Community Center and our lunch was very good and service was good (although guy assigned to our table never came to our table; so a female waitress took care of us, checked every so often - and she was good).
The downside was there was no street parking and we paid $25 to park in a lot!!!! That's way out of line, so we probably won't return.
My shepherd's pie was very good -- meat and vegetables in dark gravy filling with mashed potatoes on top. I enjoyed the whole dish but can't say I will remember what I had if you ask me a few months from now. His fish and chips were tasty but oily. Good though not the best ever eaten. We will come back to try something else. Conveniently close to Community Center.
Generally, I don't care much for pub food, so I was surprised to enjoy my brunch at de Vere's. The place is lively and noisy even on a Sunday afternoon. My husband loved his fish and chips. The cod was fresh and the fries were just the way he likes them. My granddaughter was in Shepherd's Pie heaven.
I guess because my wife and I don't get out more than once or twice a month I really didn't expect to pay almost twice as much for a "call" whiskey than if I hadn't asked for a particular liquor. And I know the one I asked for was not the 21 year old single malt! Other than that, the service was excellent and the salads were great and the sandwich that we split was also very good.
Six old friends and I went here Friday to get together. We thought it would be a good place to hang out and talk over dinner. I expected good food, but I was very impressed. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and my wife ordered fish and chips. We split the dishes, as we usually do. Both meals were way above average. The Reuben had a distinct but still traditional flavor and the fried fish was much more than your average bland whitefish. During the several hours we lingered, our server was very attentive but unobtrusive.
