de Vere's Irish Pub - Davis Ratings and Reviews
We were there for a low-key bachelor send-off. The reservation and check-in process was smooth. We ended up with a good seating location; staff was accommodating and helpful, but not intrusive. The food was good, and their Irish coffee is amazing. Cozy atmoshere. Would definitely go back.
We brought my 80+ year old parents prior to heading to the Mondavi Center. Shepard’s Pie was good and flavorful. My folks Monte Cristo was good, but over cooked. My daughter’s hamburger was very tasty and my husband ordered the potato brunch dish, which he loved. The long upholstered beach along the wall should be reupholstered, due to the fabric ripped and hanging. Besides that the rooms where well laid out and cozy. Our server was very attentive and nice. We will return.
Devere's is always the place to linger as it is the closest to being an original Irish pub in the area. And the menu has a variety of offerings - true comfort food. I've always found the service to be warm, friendly & attentive.
Plus true hand drawn Guinness - what's not to love?
DeVere's has nice atmosphere for friendly drinks and conversation. Good beer selection on tap, including San Diego beers that I like. Other groups of 4-6 like ours. We had dinner there Friday that I found fairly disappointing. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't very good. Fish'n'chips was heavy and not fresh. We shared a "bread pudding" that was more like deep fried Texas Toast.
Took a friend their for a get-together. Used OpenTable to request time but also seating in "The Library" which is usually quieter and more suited for talking and catching up with a friend. Brunch was tasty with quite a few choices. Main draw, however, is the pub-like ambiance. Would recommend for dining at any time.
I chose de Vere’s that weekend I visited my daughter so she and I can have a nice talk without anyone eavesdropping on our conversation. De Vere’s was perfect. We didn’t have to whisper nor did we have to shout. Food did not disappoint. We had fish and chips, mac and cheese, and shepherd’s pie. The mac and cheese just had a little too much peas for my liking, but peas are easy enough to push to the side and don’t really add or take away any taste from the dish, so all’s well.
The wait staff was good. By that I mean friendly and gracious. Our waitress took down our order correctly. She read it back. I have dietary restrictions re salt and garlic so I always order my food without seasoning. Seems easier on the waitperson and chef. Nope. My food was smothered in pepper and salt both. Since I was a guest I didn't want to say anything. Next time I'm in the area I will likely try this restaurant again. The menu is varied and I liked the staff. But I was disappointed with this visit.
Decent fusion between Irish with a hint of American and some ok beer choices but not great considering it is supposed to hail from that part of the World
Friendly staff, not too busy early in the week, lively on the weekends later into the night.
The odd song has been known to break out by those well lubricated clientele
All in all well worth a visit but not super authentic
We scheduled deVeres as a good centralized meeting place. We are 5 retired friends that worked together in Sunnyvale CA. We now come from Lake Tahoe, Nevada City, Santa Rosa, Los Gatos and Morgan Hill. This was an excellent choice, the food and service was great and the ambiance lent itself to quiet conversation. My Irish Stew was excellent and friends enjoyed the fish and chips. We all agreed to meet here again.
We celebrated Father's Day here and we are so glad we did! It's very much like an authentic pub-from books and games on the shelves, to dark wood paneling and stained glass, to the Guinness and other food and drinks. Our family of 5 ordered enjoyed all of the following: nachos (careful, they're spicy!), the kids' this and that plate, the bacon cheeseburger, the kids' mac and cheese, the chicken sliders (amazing!), and the shepherds pie. Everything was delicious!
We went there for Sunday brunch on a very busy weekend: UC Davis Commencement weekend + Fathers' Day. It was the only brunch place in Davis that took reservations, a big plus. There were 8 of us. Although it was crowded there are various nooks that can accommodate larger groups. The service was a little slow because it was exceptionally busy, but the brunch food was excellent and good value. I would go there again.
The three of us came for lunch, sat on the patio and were served almost immediately. My two guests took advantage of the breakfast menu and ordered the banana french toast with whipped cream which they both thought was quite tasty. I had the traditional cheeseburger and a caesar salad. it is a very good size burger and I took half of it home. de Vere's is always one of my "go to" restaurants when I want casual dining and comfort food.
