Outstanding! Steaks were great! Lobster tail was a bit dry but huge and very tasty. Service impeccable! We’ll be back!
Perfect service for a customer dinner. Quiet restaurant & the food was very authentic. Will go again.
The owner and servers were so welcoming -- wonderful ambiance and service. The Caesar salad was very good, but pricey. The Pomodoro was very good, but two other (Vongolle and Meatball marinara were just fine.
Went there for a pre-show meal based on the ratings and I was not disappointed. Very nice service and took the recommendation of the waiter. We had cioppino and shrimp pasta. Excellent!
We really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent.
Made a reservation for 9:30, got seated at 10. Asked for the wine list 3 times before getting it. Ordered an appetizer they said they were out of so ordered another. After waiting for about a half hour they came back and said they were out of that one too. We ended up getting fried calamari which was super chewy. The pasta was dry and cold, the cheesecake was frozen. Way overpriced. Unfortunately did not like anything about this place.
Absolutely amazing experience! I took my wife for Valentine’s Day and we absolutely loved it. We had the Valentine’s Day special and all of the food was amazing. Our server, Lucas was very friendly and professional and made a mean Caesar salad table side as he told us the story of the origin of the salad. Overall an incredible experience!
I was super bummed about the quality of food for the price - it seemed as if our food had sat out under the heat lamps for well over 20 minutes. The candied carrots made no sense and the vegetables were mushy. I was so bummed after 3 years of consecutively coming, this dinner was the dinner to end any further enjoyment at the restaurant. There’s so many other better Italian restaurants that don’t feel like just an upscale Olive Garden
Crammed in tables for Valentine's Day but that's to be expected. 1 hour before I had even an appetizer on the table. They gave us the wrong appetizers because they ran out of what we ordered. They didn't tell us just tried to make it look like it was our fault. Steak was cooked a little too much but still enjoyable. The asparagus and carrots were very basic. They were ok, just not what I expect for a $90 dinner. I think I'll stick to Donovan's in the future- no more experimenting on important occasions.
This was our first time at this restaurant, they had a Valentine’s Day menu for $59 a person, so maybe their food is better on regular days. I had The minestrone soup and it was like dish water. The rest of the meal was good, but certainly not up to par for $100 per person (including one drink, tax, and tip). It was located close to the Balboa Theatre where we watched a ballet.
Still I think there are better choices for food at this price point.
We would come here again for a special occasion.
Wonderful (special occasion” dining. Lovely!
We have been coming to this restaurant for years and have never received anything but the most excellent food and amazing service. The owner is often there and walking the floor ensuring that every customer feels like they are being served like family. You can’t go wrong with this amazing restaurant.
Great service and food. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience start to finish. Perfect place for a date night with my better half. Antonio was attentive & provided excellent service. The Gnocchi was some of the best that I’ve had & the menu made it difficult to choose an entree because everything looked equally amazing, which is the sign of a great eatery & gives me a reason to go back again & again.
We always loved de Medici. It seemed like everything was pre cooked and we were there during a convention - everywhere was hopping - they were dead at 7:15 maybe 5 tables. Sad because they were excellent in the past.
Food was fabulous. The only issue with price was the ridiculously priced table side Caesar salad. $18 per person !
Place feels dated and service was not so good! I remember visiting this place couple times over the last decade and it’s definitely not the same!
Service was poor. Food was not hot. Disappointing.
Food was good but service and ambiance were lacking.
Delighful staff & yummy dinner.. Cannoli was the bomb... Was a little on the expensive side
We are visiting in San Diego for the month of January and were pleasantly surprised that Restaurant Week occurred this month. We scrutinized the list of participating restaurants in the Gaslamp/East Village areas where we were staying and selected De'Medici Cucina. Everything about our experience at this fine eatery was first-rate. The dining room is lovely, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. My wife and I made the same selections from the prix fixe menu: wedge salad with tasty blue cheese bacon dressing; thin and tender veal cutlets covered with mushrooms and gravy accompanied by baby carrots and brussels sprouts; and cannoli for dessert. We recommend this restaurant highly.
service very slow. food quality high, but seasoning eskew.
Had dinner before attending the symphony. A short walk to Copley Hall. Reservations for 6:00pm. Noise level was great but started to increase around 7:15 once some larger groups were seated. We shared a field green salad followed by penne arrabiata and linguine with clams. Excellent. Not a large portion which was fine as we didn’t need leftovers. Waiter recommended tiramisu for desert. Great choice.
Very relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, and outstanding service. If you're looking for Italian food in an old style ambience, de Medici will not let you down. The calamari fritti was excellent to start. I had the sole portofino, crazy expensive but over-the-top delicious. My wife had the linguine pescatore, overwhelming and again, delicious. They surprised us with a slice of cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary, simply too good. Can't wait for a return visit.
Great night with excellent service.
Excellent food and Outstandjng Service!!!
Food was fabulous and service first class. Our server was a young man from Turkey and was superlative in every way
Visit with family.
This is the best restaurant in town. Get a veal chop! Or anything else.
I have been at this restaurant several times. It is consistently excellent. The veal chop is my favorite. The house specialty of seafood stuffed sole is fabulous. The pastas are regularly delicious
Amazing meal! Great service! Would definitely recommend!
Great service as reviews indicated. Friendly as well. Food quantity and quality won’t disappoint. Didn’t have any wine but wine list was extensive.
The food and atmosphere of this restaurant was magnificent. Definitely loved spending my anniversary there and can’t wait to go there again someday.
The best Italian food in SD!
