I heard so many good things about this place so tried it out on a sunday evening. Not busy at all so the server was attentive, which was nice. She offered samples of the drinks, and I sampled the Hibiscus margarita. It was good enough to get a whole glass but very much on the sweet side. I did appreciate the sample offering though and thought that was helpful since I'm usually an indecisive person. Ordered the chicken enchiladas. They were tasty, chicken was well-cooked the mole sauce was unique but tasty. Overall though, the dish wasn't impressive. For the price I expected a bigger portion and maybe a side of something.
I was with a group that went to dinner and it was a first time for all of us. We all enjoyed it. I have been to the original location in DeLand on many occasions. This is a more upscale location, and the food was wonderful as usual.
We absolutely love the food at Dr La Vega. It is always good...you won’t be disappointed with this restaurant in quaint downtown DeLand, Fl.
This gourmet restaurant is amazing and never disappoints. The salmon was awesome under a topping of chipotle and herbs, etc. we all enjoyed the fried ice cream dessert. Even the hibiscus tea was great. The only negative is the lack of parking.
A variety of tapas were all delicious and appealing to the eye. The desserts were wonderful including a top-notch flan.
Absolutely Amazing!!! Must Dine & Experience! Service was outstanding!!!!
Great lunch during Bike Week Rally. Can't wait for Oviedo location to open.
I'd heard great things about De La Vega, so when I was in town on business this week, I asked my sisters (one from Daytona, one from Titusville and both well-traveled) to come join me for lunch. All three of us were absolutely thrilled with everything, from the lovely greeting and friendly, knowledgeable staff to the gorgeous art gallery surroundings to the delectable food. We ordered several small plates and shared/tasted in true tapas fashion. Just wonderful. We'll be back and will bring friends!
We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays, that was great and even served us 2 flan for each birthday girl. I ordered a dish and told waitress that I am highly sensitive to bell peppers and cannot be on dish. Was told no peppers in dish, the dish was served over bell pepper studded rice, no problem she was going to have redone. After 10 min was served the dish alone, no side substituted or offered. My table mates were almost done with their plate when mine arrived. Was told 2for 1 wine, was charged for 2. I’m not a complainer so will just not return. I was hoping to love it because there is one opening in Oviedo. Thankfully there are plenty of options here.
This Downtown DeLand eatery has indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, quiet conversation was difficult. Outside, there were lots of people passing by. Their menu offers many tapas, which are large enough for a meal. The hibiscus tapas are something I have not seen on other menus - and quite tasty. One gluten-free member of our party wanted to try the ropa vieja but the menu said it was not gluten-free; the waitress was very willing to talk with the chef and explain why. Many vegetarian options are on the menu - I just don't know how many were vegan options.
Simply the best. Plantain soup, Sangria. Simply the best.
The food was tasty but they need to work out the kinks with service. The drink menu was a little weird and overpriced for what it was. It would be nice to see a Latin drink like a caipirinha and high-quality craft cocktails. The ambience and restaurant layout wasn’t very pleasant, but if I had an event to go to at the arena or one of the stadiums, I would definitely consider eating here again.
We had a wonderful meal and great service. We ordered one entree and 3 tapas and shared between 2 couples. Each meal was delicious and we had no room for dessert. Service was timed well and attentive. We will return.
Great service, friendly staff. Best flan in central florida
I have never had anything but the most excellent food and friendly service at DeLaVega. It's my go-to place to take out of town visitors. Everyone I have ever taken here has had a wonderful meal.
NEVER EVER TAKE HOT ROD COCONUT BLONDE off the Beer list!
My wife and I live in Orlando and have been coming to De La Vega for a year now, well worth the drive, the food is amazing!!!! We miss our favorite server Puja so very much, but the staff is always so great. Would be great if De La Vega had a restaurant here in Dr. Phillips!
De La Vega is always one of our favorite spots in Deland! The food is always delicious and the service is great. I love the really unique options that they have.
Excellent food with gourmet seasonings and unusual presentation. Waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. All 6 of us were impressed.
We have eaten here many times and are never disappointed. Recently, we went for our anniversary, and they served us a complimentary dessert. My wife had the chipotle glazed salmon which is one of her favorites. I enjoy this restaurant particularly because I am a vegetarian, and they have many choices. On this visit, I loved the hibiscus tacos which have a superb taste. We also had a sweet plantain appetizer which was excellent. The servers are always helpful and friendly. We have never had a bad experience here. We drive about 40 mins to get there, and it is certainly worth it.
Very tasty and fresh with a wide variety. Not over seasoned and Beautiful presentation, making it hard to decide.
everything about this restaurant was great BUT Open Table...not so great!!! Even though I had a confirmation of the reservation, the restaurant never got the info and we (5 of us) were not expected. The restaurant was extremely busy as it was the opening day of the fine arts festival but they were sooo accommodating and arranged to seat us with efficiency and grace for which we were extremely grateful. When I made the reservations, I communicated to Open Table that the group was celebrating a birthday but of course, because Open Table did not notify the restaurant about the reservation, there was no provision for the birthday. We did not bring it up as we didn't want to add to the confusion. This is a fine restaurant with an excellent menu and service and I will not hesitate to return but I will call direct to make my reservation.
Had friends visiting from North Carolina for the Fall Festival of the Arts. De la Vega is hands down their favorite place to eat in DeLand. The food and wine were wonderful, as always. Love eating outside and watching all the people on the street. Great vegetarian selection which is very important to my vegetarian friend.
A bit expensive for the small portions. Valentine's day menu was limited but we had a great time. I will go again soon.
We were greeted and immediately seated at what we thought was the best table. The food & service was outstanding. Our waitress made excellent suggestions and was always around when we needed her. My wife had chicken mole and it may have been the first time she has clean her plate in a very long time. We were very pleased and had a wonderful evening.
One of the few places you will find Mexican Wines which are virtually unknown to folks from the USA. Be the first one on your block! More gourmet than I expected----pleasingly so. Don't miss this excellent value in Hatterland!
We seek out De La Vega Restaurant when we visit the many museums and art shops in Deland. De laVega loves to experiment with food and they make eating new dishes so exciting.
Eating is an adventure at De la Vega.
Service is warm and caring and professional.
I love watching the city go by as we eat - seeing Deland bustle on a Friday night is a delight.
I have many allergies and they never make me feel like a "problem" when sorting through the menu on what items to avoid (I do email ahead my issues so I don't hit them at the busy times.)
Very quiet for lunch. Near Stetson University. The echilladas were very unique with ingredients.
Had a wonderful evening. Great food, great service, great time.
From start to finish it was wonderful! Thanks to all job well done. We willo return many times.
De La Vega is outstanding! The owners are the core of this great restaurant from welcoming the customers to food preparation and service. The wait staff is professional and cordial. Many of the wait staff are Stetson University students and are great young people. We have been happy customers of De La Vega since its very first season. Each year Nora and her family fine-tune their already wonderful restaurant into an even more enjoyable experience. We look forward to our next visit to De La Vega !
Terrific place! We can't wait to go again!
The food and service were wonderful! The chef's flavor combinations were spot-on.
