De La Torre's Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Authentic East Coast style Italian menu. Three of our party of four had the pan cooked Halibut/Parma Ham Special. It was outstanding. It was tough to give up my go to dish of veal parmigiana, but well worth it. Bread and olive oil was a hit as was the antipasto appetizer. Service was spot on as usual, especially for a Saturday night.
Made reservations through Open Table which was easy and convenient. Arrived at the restaurant about 5 min. of or scheduled time made. Was greeted by the friendly hostess which seated us right of way to our table. The restaurant was already very busy at the time to almost full capacity. I'm do recommend making reservations here to guarantee a seating around the time you want. Once seated, we were given some bread assortment. Our Server then followed up asking for any drink order. We ordered from the Today's Special menu. Excellent choice, wife ordered the Halibut wrapped in prosciutto and I had the pan roasted chicken al mattone . Both were Delish! I would come back here.
The food is authentic. We’ve travelled in Tuscany and Piedmont areas of Italy, and have truly enjoyed this restaurant in the past, and we were looking forward to going there for a birthday dinner last night.
Our waitress was not just lacking in follow through, she seemed to have some chip on her shoulder and even appeared offended when I mentioned it was a birthday celebration. Without offering us a desert menu, she assumed we were only interested in the birthday slice of cake, which is a very thoughtful and lovely surprise, but she actually said something rude as she asked us if we wanted our bill. We were bemused, but it could have been a better experience overall. It left us feeling strange.
It took to long to get our someone to take our orders. But in all fairness, they were very busy with holidays parties. Moreover, my food was cold by the time I got it.
Furthermore, the coffee was not good to say the least, not only cold but also old.....
Even though I like De La Torre's, I believe that the overall service was below expectations. That being said, I would go back since I believe in a second chance.
I made a reservation and the email to prove it. Showed up and they couldn’t find the reservation. Very stressful situation. Finally seated. Ordered an entree and salad. Salad came out on time but the entree came out way too early and was cold. Not quite sure how that happened. My date had soup first and it came out like warm and her meal was early and cold as well. We never received any bread. The experience was a complete flop. Very disappointing.
Disappointing at the least.....salads wilted, "Cape Cod chowder was a thick potato soup with few clams (less than a hybrid of New England and Manhattan), oxtail were greasy and sloppy. No, we won't return! The wine list is passable.....try the Husch Pinot 2012...the hi-lite of the meal.
Unfortunately, my date and I arrived forty minutes Early for our reservation. But more Unfortunately we watched as patron after patron was seated ahead of us, even some who had arrived with NO reservations. When a party of seven was called for their table, I'd had enough(that group had been in the small waiting area for less than five minutes) so I advised the owner that we could wait no longer and left to find other accommodations. Disappointed o say the least
Would have thought De La Torre’s would have done something special (dessert?) for my mother’s 82nd Birthday - which was noted on the open table special request. Actually was very disappointed with them. We didn’t have to come there for her special occasion. Next time we will take our business somewhere else. Too bad as I really like to support the local businesses.
We ate here for the first time the other day and my my what a lovely surprise! First off it was so easy to make a reservation as I used Opentable app. My server Marty McFly was pretty darn awesome making great recommendations for our meal.
Calamari, crispy golden fried goodness
Bruchetta, maybe it was an off day?
Tagliatelle Bolognese, very meaty and the pasta was sooo good!
Linguine alla Marinara (I ordered with Tagliatelle), yummy!
Cannoli with pistachio filling, crunchy exterior and creamy center, not too sweet so perfect!
I had never been here before, but as soon as we sat down and met our server I knew I’d love it. I love good service and Martie stood out as one who provides it. She gave perfect tips on what to get, clued us in well to some specials and made us feel incredibly welcome. The topper was that every recommendation was fantastic. The food was some of the best Italian I’ve had in the area. We will go back to see Martie and to get great food.
I ordered the lasagna. The bottom was burnt and 2/3rds had no ricotta and the final 3rd had all the ricotta. Totally disappointed. It had some sort of white sauce that I couldn’t identify; also ordered the burrata and tomato salad. The salad was ok, tomatoes weren’t ripe and the burrata was poor, small amount and it seemed like it melted all over the salad.
Our family of four have been regular customers here (1-2 times per month, at least) for the past 5 years, since we moved to California. We always request the same server, who is outstanding, and are essentially treated like VIP’s. It then pains me greatly to write a negative review about De La Torre’s. It’s unfortunate that the portions have become so small that we pay $30+ per person and then need to go home and eat PB&J. We saw the owner there tonight, so she’s onsite and knows what’s going on.
It’s a sad day when I have to lose my previously favorite restaurant of 5 years.
