De La Torre's Trattoria
The wine list showcases exceptional and unusual varietals from small producers and family wineries in Italy and in California.
The service is friendly, efficient and professional.
Simply put, we feature delectable food at a fair price, food people want to eat everyday.
Food outstanding, service great (thanks Pepe!), good wine and dessert. Can't ask for more! And Double Bubble gum when you leave.
I was anxious to try this restaurant as I had heard the food was very good. Unfortunately, 3 of our party ordered the Halibut special and it was terrible. The Halibut was suppose to be pan seared however, it was either terribly overcooked or re-heated from the night before. For $28 we expected more and all feel we got a lot less. The others in our party had pasta dishes off their regular menu and were very good. I suggest that if you are a first timer, you stick to what they do best. Service was great.
The ambience makes you instantly forget you are in a strip mall. The two times I've been there, and had different entrees, have both been good. A pasta one time, perfectly cooked, fish another, perfectly cooked and fresh with good texture. The prices are reasonable, and portions good - not gigantic and not too small. It seems great for families and for couples. That said, the service is less personable than at some other family restaurants and less professional (never came back after entrees were served to see how things were one time, other time, far too long to get water and that same night, far too long between no dessert thanks and the check.. Needed to flag them down.). The lack of personality is a little disappointing in my opinion. But, if you don't care if you get to know the owners or become recognized as a regular it is a really nice restaurant to which i would return and recommend.
I was just recently introduced to this beautiful restaurant and love coming here for lunch. I have only come for lunch since working across the street, but the few times I have come in, it's always been an excellent experience. Thank you for the great food and service.
Wonderful food - excellent service!
For birthday celebration- spaghetti and meatballs for birthday girl. Others shared Eggplant with burrata cheese and special order of linguine with clams in EVOO garlic basil. Very accommodating. Senior friendly. Included birthday slice of cake. Referred by CHECK PLEASE BAY AREA.
Excellent real style pizza and specialty Italian entre selections.
Always delightful and consistently delicious food. Welcoming environment.
This is a wonderful Pleasanton restaurant. The wine list is very good and priced well, the food we enjoyed was the best we have had at a restaurant in a very long time. Our server could not have been more profession nor friendly. All in all, a five star experience.
Great community family restaurant.
Food was wonderful. The two young gals at the reception desk (Bridget and I sadly can't recall the name of the other) were fabulous! Such a great representation for your restaurant. Sweet, knowledgeable and excited about making suggestions on the menu. You can tell they have a great history with the restaurant and they have such pride in working there. Bravo!
From the outside it is a strip mall style feel, but once you enter you feel like you are in someone's home and treated that way also. very nice, great service, great food, a must try!
Dinner was amazing from start to finish. The only thing better than the food was the service. We have only lived in the immediate area for a few months so we've been trying all the local restaurants to find our go to and as far as Italian is concerned this will be the spot for us!
After seeing the excellent reviews on Check, Please Bay Area, we thought we'd try this restaurant. The bruschetta was well done, although it could have used more basil. The risotto was flavorless even though the ingredients were good. Basically, it needed seasoning - herbs, broth, etc. I understand from the others at our table that the short ribs, though tender, were also not well flavored. The veal scaloppini was, on the other hand, tender and tasty. The desserts, however, were quite good, and better than most Italian restaurants.
Not sure we'll be back, although we did appreciate the excellent and friendly service.
Food was very good. Excellent selection even for me being gluten free. My only complaint was kale came with my meal and I can’t eat kale so I asked for the spinach which is a side dish and I had to pay $5.00 for it, I think for the price they should have substituted it or offered a different vegetable.
Great service but even better dinner. A real local favorite!
Great service, delicious food and appreciated the complimentary birthday cake!
We've eaten at De La Torres several times and find it to be a great value with a comfortable, neighborhood-like setting. One of the key reasons we keep returning is that this is one of the only Italian restaurants near our home where Veal Parmesan is served. It's always very good and comes with generous portions of veal and pasta.
Good fried calamari. Tasty pasta alle vongole. Veal scallopine good also. Dessert star was the nice size tiramisu.
Tables for two are small. A bit cramped with narrow walkways.
The food tasted good, but gave me an upset stomach all night.
It was a friend’s Birthday and we were all treated so wonderful. She had seen the restaurant on a tv show and was excited to have lunch to celebrate. Everyone loved it. I am lucky and go there at least once a month and it has always been awesome. Thanks for making my friend’s birthday special!
Overall, the ambience was good but the food portions were very small and pricy.
Good food and service. Never felt rushed.
This is a nice little gem of an Italian place in a strip mall in Pleasanton. The service is excellent and the food value is very good, my wife and I both had leftovers to take home so the portions are pretty generous.
This is one of our regular spots, and our visit last week was just as wonderful as all the rest have been! We have been going to De la Torres for years and the same staff has been there the whole time which really gives it the family feel. The food is always wonderful and the bread pudding is to die for!
Went with friends the food is out of this world. We started with fired calamari, pizza margherita , fine italian red wine, fresh wild king salmon, gnocchi, catolette alla parmigiana, and cannaloni. Ended with peanut butter chocolate pie. What a great dinner with friends. We’ll all definitely be back.
Our reservations always waiting for us and greeted by Leigh the owner making you feel welcomed. However, the Italian
food is just the best! Original (no conveyor belt) pizza and plenty of specials to choose from. You don't stay in business for over 25 years in neighborhood restaurant without loyal local patrons. 5 Stars here!
Pepperoni, green peppers and onions pizza was excellent. The staff was wonderful and very attentive
This was our first visit but certainly not the last. Great food and great service
Celebrated a friend's birthday, and it was so perfect! The ambiance is classy, and it was quiet for lunch. Lunch entrees were varied, and my salad was really fresh, with vibrant tastes! I asked for more red onions, and they were provided. Portions were generous, and the "birthday cake" for my friend was a slice of a decadent chocolate cake! Love that we have this jewel in our community. . . don't have to travel to find quality, tasty, and fresh innovative dishes! I look for gluten free options, and I was pleased with the selections.
Waitress was rude when we only wanted waters to drink and a single meal to split. We were on a road trip and couldn't have wine to her dismay and wanted a light meal since we'd be driving a couple hours yet. She actually said, "That's all you want?" with an annoyed tone. The free bread was ok. Soft and fresh, but nothing special taste wise. We ordered the the baked Ziti with sausages. They were kind enough to make it 2 separate dishes for us. Cooked well, but the sauce was bland. Didn't see or taste any seasoning or herbs. Just average sauce. Sausage tasted great, but not enough of them. Had several spoonfuls of just pasta and sauce. Would have liked more onions and peppers in the mix too. We LOVE Italian food but would never stop here again on a road trip through the area. Good luck to them though! They seemed to have a lot of locals happily eating there, so perhaps it was just our server's attitude and the particular dish that we ordered that made the experience so disappointing.
Good menu assortment plus daily specials. Unfortunately I chose one of the specials & it was halibut & risotto BUT it was SMOTHERED in the white sauce, ruining the fresh hakibut
De La Torres was a bit of heaven. I took friends from Southern California as they love Italian food. They couldn't stop raving about the most simplest of things like how wonderful the tomatoes were and how fresh the salads are, to their own personal dishes. You might like downtown Pleasanton for ambiance but for really authentic Italian food and wonderful atmosphere, you can not go wrong with De La Torres. High on my recommended list.!
They took us us in 1/2 early and gave the best and quickest service ever. Best neighborhood restaurant I have ever been. Very flexible, extensive wine list and homey desert. You fell you are at home away home.
Wonderful food that was very flavorful. You can order anything and it all tastes fantastic. Service was excellent and we were well attended too. We will definitely return.
After reading great reviews, was looking forward to dining here.
The food was good, but not outstanding. We had the stuffed zucchini flowers app. I had ravioli of the day, veg-ricotta one. The sauce seemed to have homemade basil pesto. My SO had eggplant entry. All was good. The Italian white wine was great, that the server suggested. The chocolate Panna Cotta dessert was good.
Although service was good, it wasn't top notch. Later towards the meal, we felt bit rushed. My plate was taken away to pack, without asking me.
But will surely come again sometime.
On my favorite list : always great food, service and friendly atmosphere.
Delicious food as always. I especially enjoyed the fresh swordfish this visit. Everything was good except the service this time. Water was never refilled, we were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine.
They have an excellent menu of several specials every night in addition to the fine regular menus. All dishes are well prepared. The service is always good and I have never had a bad meal there.
Really good food, good service, nice ambiance. We usually have one of the fish dishes and are always pleased. Also the desserts are excellent.
