All of our beef is supplied by Consumers Meat Packing of Chicago, IL...purveyors to many of the finest steakhouses in the United States. The same superior standards apply to our fresh seafood, sourced direct from North Coast Seafood of Boston, MA., our whole lobsters, from the cold waters of Maine and our Mero Sea Bass Steaks, overnighted from Honolulu Fish Company, Honolulu, HI.
Friendly staff: service top notch, attentive without being intrusive. Jorge is great behind the bar. Chef Brad never disappoints with perfectly cooked delicious steaks! The bay scallops were beyond par.
Really great service, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Our waiter was able to give great recommendations and explain items on the menu. The food service was wonderful, items arrived with just the right amount of timing. This restaurant supports Veterans and has great management . Thank you for continuing to support the troops.
Another great meal at DC Prime. We had shrimp cocktail, cesaer salad, filet mignon & lamb chops, mashed potatoes, and senator's pie for dessert. John was our server, and he was terrific. We cannot recommend DC Prime enough.
It was an exceptional evening all around. Bottle of champagne, appetizers and a great meal. It was nice the the owner met us at the door as well as checked upon us during the meal. Service was great and to top off the dinner a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Kudos to the whole staff.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hope to have many more chances to revisit.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Great food, service and location. Yes it’s on the expensive side but you get what you pay for, the best!!
Excellent service and one of the best filets you can get in the area.
It’s clear DC Prime has methodically procured some of the best ingredients available. They are were prepared perfectly in a classic approach and style. The seafood tower was of ample size for two and included classic sauces. The baby iceberg was dressed with some of best roquefort dressing I’ve ever had.
The portions were generous prime dry-aged steaks. Charged and cook to the perfect temperature. The sides of fingerling potatoes prepared with duck fat had the right balance of crispiness and fat and the creamed corn with bacon had just enough cream and corn without being overly rich. Highly recommend Oscar style. The béarnaise was lite and airy and didn’t overpower the flavor of the meat.
My chief criticism the timing of the meal which was rushed. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. However, the appetizer arrive before my cocktail. Half way through the appetizer course I order a salad and streak. With in minutes of finishing, the salad arrived. I asked to slow down the pace of the meal. Midway through the salad I order a glass of wine. It didn’t arrive until I was half though my steak, which arrive just as my salad plate was removed.
I will return to DC Prime because the food and preparation was the best of any steakhouse in DC. When I dine there again, and I will, I will order each course after I complete the previous to slow down the pace of the meal so I enjoy it even more.
Birthday dinner, the Tomahawk bone in Ribeye was phenomenal, the Brussels and the asparagus where delicious
Another solid performance by the team at DC prime. The only excpetion was they were unbale to get the steak of one of the diners right. First it came out way to well done then a new steak too rare even after several attempts. They ended up comping the steak which was the right thing to do as we ended up sharing ours with her. all in all a good night
Food was good, but service wasn't on par with what I would expect from a restaurant at that price point. Didn't receive a cocktail until an hour after we sat down. Waiter was good (when available), but had too many tables and was doing everything he could to keep up.
Great food with fantastic service we will definitely be back!
Our food was excellent. Our server was attentive but unobtrusive. The anniversary card and special dessert were a fabulous touch.
DC Prime went above and beyond. We were asked if this was a special occasion. I said we missed our January birthdays and May anniversary, and were making up for them. So, our waiter brought us a decorative gooey "Happy Birthday" dessert , and another one "Happy Anniversary". Many thanks.
Just wonderful, great service, and awesome food
One of many occasions we've been here. Tonight we had waiter John. I got the 55-day dry aged strip and it was incredible. I made a remark that it's not a beginner steak. It also not a type of steak you'll find many places. My wife got a strip and crab cake. All cooked to perfection. We continue to love this place every single time we go.
From time to time they'll also have specially imported Japanese beef. They are a must try. Words simply cannot describe how much enjoyment you'll have from it.
We thank all the staff for being genuine and continued attention to detail!
DC Prime’s menu has a broad selection of unique steakhouse items. From typical filets to bone-in, dry-aged prime steaks to sea bass and other seafood.
The service was terrific. The wait staff was attentive and available.
The restaurant was full to the brim on a Thursday night.
The only unfortunate items were that the wine cooler had not been working for over a week and they ran out of a desert (Creme brûlée) early in the evening. This may have been a one time issue. But when we mentioned it to the waiter, he brought the manager over and offered us deserts and a flight of ports.
One of the best steaks we have had, tomahawk, scallops were delish, nice meal. $$$$
We have been to DC Prime several times, the last two trips were very disappointing. Service both times was less than adequate. The food was average, not anywhere near the quality I expect when I spend that amount of money. We gave it a second chance Saturday after our last experience but probably won't be going back.
DC Prime is always a great experience. The food is amazing and the wait staff excellent. We’ve had Stuart the last two times - he is very professional and very pleasant.
We have visited DC Prime several times. It has always been an excellent experience. Our waiters have been friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and prompt. Steaks are excellent and sharing is expected. With a call ahead, they have provided a bordelaise sauce for us in addition to regular menu sauces. We will return.
As always, DC Prime's friendly staff and delicious food, once again, provided for an excellent dining experience.
The food was all fantastic (steaks, salads, sides, dessert). Really good place for a special occasion or event. Very lively but not too loud.
Quite Sunday night dinner and as usual great crowd and ambiance. Tried the ribeye that was on special with Lobster tail. What a great meal! Server also suggested a wine that made the dish complete. Met some neighbors and shared music experience that kept us engaged all evening.Surprisingly special night on a quite Sunday evening.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday at DC Prime. We usually order the filet mignon but this time we ordered the had the ribeye and was very delicious and flavorful. After dinner we sat on the patio for after dinner drinks and my husband smoked a cigar. We had a great time.
Another great meal at DC Prime. We shared shrimp cocktail & casear salad. Followed by filet mignon for her and steak & lobster tail for me, along with shoe string potatoes. All were terrific as was our server, John. He was personable and professional. We would recommend DC Prime to anyone looking for a great steakhouse.
We waiting over five minutes to receive steak knifes after the food arrived in spite of our attempts to find our waiter or any waiter for that matter, subsequently our steaks were cold!!!
Great food and service. Highly recommend.
Best steakhouse in Northern Va when it comes to customer service and quality of the food.
I think I've posted this before. The waitstaff and food is what you'd expect from a nice steakhouse. Where DC Prime falls short is with the host staff. You'd expect a maitre d' caliber host staff, but what you get is something you'd expect at a moderately priced chain restaurant. They don't pull the chair out, even for elderly women. They just drop your menus off and leave. It's not a huge deal at the end of the day, but that extra touch (if they had it) would have added another star to my review.
Celebrated a birthday at DC Prime and food/service were very good. Our waiter was always there when we needed him and surprised us with nice birthday dessert. However I have to say the dinner was less enjoyable due to how noisy it was. Shouldn't have to shout across table for four to be heard at a fine dining restaurant. They could alleviate that by taking out some of tables but I'm sure they try to pack in as many as possible to fill up restaurant.
Our waitstaff was well versed in her craft. The steaks were excellent and the ambience was fine.
DC prime is a great steakhouse and they do a terrific job of taking care of their customers. The staff is friendly and the food is exceptional. Steaks are some of the best I've had ... anywhere. So why only 4 stars? First off, it is noisy. The lack of sound-deadening and an open sound path from the bar to the dining room means that diners often have to repeat themselves or yell to be understood. Second, the air conditioning is at a "maximum cold" level. My wife had a shawl which we thought would be enough to keep her warm but she wound up needing my suit jacket as well. I don't know if the A/C can be adjusted, but we bloody well froze. If you are going to DC Prime, bring your earplugs and a parka, you'll have a great time.
I would go back to the bar for an upscale Happy Hour experience but would not likely recommend dinner. Service was meh... food was good but value for price was not equal. Overpriced wine.
It was an absolutely perfect spot for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was elegant, the service friendly and prompt, and the food was out of this world. I have always heard about "buttery" steaks; now I know what it means.
Great food; will definitely be back!
A little pricey, but great service and food. Loved our waiter, patient, jovial and helpful. I would go back again.
