Open 7 days a week, dbar is a full service restaurant that seamlessly transforms into a nightclub and lounge as the night goes on. Formally an old school Irish pub filled with mahogany charm, dbar has been renovated into a hip chic hot spot. With warm glowing candles & long leather banquettes, dbar offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere that attracts clientele from Dorchester and surrounding areas. The unique and classy menu inspired by Executive Chef Christopher Coombs changes with the seasons and features the finest and freshest available ingredients throughout the New England area. Most of the menu takes a French twist, but also contains an assortment of comfort foods (such as our famous Veal & Pancetta Bolognaise) and old favorites (like our simple yet delicious Giannone Chicken Under a Brick.)

dbar Ratings and Reviews
Me and my husband eat here about 1x per week. The food is great, the drinks are fab and the staff is amazing. It gets pretty loud so if you are looking for a place to talk and cant project your voice you may get frustrated. After tasting the food it will be worth it!!
We were celebrating a birthday so I decided to make a reservation and add a note about bringing over a lil dessert. From the moment we walked in, til after we walked out, Thais place was fantastic! The garlic Bloody Mary was uber garlicky but could’ve used a bit of spice to enhance the flavor but that was honestly our only thought the whole meal. Steak and eggs were superb, as was everything else we ordered! Device was spectacular, warm, friendly and funny. Will definitely be returning. Thanks!
Creative food excellently prepared. It's delicious comfort food. For appetizers we had the sausage plate and shared a confit duck grilled cheese. Super. Mains included a beef bourguignon, beet tagliatelli with crispy beets and buratta ball, pan seared cod, and bricked chicken. I could tell you which was my favorite, I'd eat any of them again.
Service by Johnny was exceptional, even decrumbing the table before the mains. This is a bar in Dorchesta! We were there early on a Sunday evening, clearly they have music some nights so I think you could have a great time there besides the food.
Interesting menu with delicious food and great, friendly service. I want to go back and try more things. My husband and I split the kale salad and the crab cake as appetizers. Nicely presented salad and prepared so that the kale was delicate (unlike the preparations at most restaurants!). I ordered the cod and it had a crisp, flavorful outside (I hesitate to call it a crust, because it was so light) that highlighted the tender fish.
The food here never disappoints, and this weekend was no exception. The seared Cod over fingerling potatoes, sweet cord and bacon lardons was just amazing! The blood orange cosmo -
equally delicious! My date's pork chop with sausage and spaetzle was also fantastic. Really can't go wrong here!
First time to dbar and we loved it! Quick date night while we were in the area. Parking lot was full but grabbed a spot on the street without a problem. Friendly host, accommodated our preference to dine at the bar. Great selection of drinks, my husband let the bartender choose his beer and he loved it. I enjoyed my Reisling. We had the figs stuffed with goat cheese wrapped in prosciutto, grilled street corn and carnitas tacos. It was so nice to be served by staff who were friendly and seemed happy to work there. We will definitely be back!
Upon entering I was greeted and seated quickly. Our server came promptly, greeted us politely and gave great recommendations. Very impressed with our server since he checked up on us often enough to make sure everything was perfect (which it was). Atmosphere was great, and me and my company never felt like we were rushed (to leave), unwanted, or disrespected. The food was also delicious!
We went too early for weeknight dinner. 6:00 on Thur. Only diners there... Everything was great and plentiful. All candles were lit. I just wish there were more people to watch. That's not their fault in any way. Excellent service , seating, greeting and food.
Desert of passion fruit cheesecake was over the top delicious!
Dbar never disappoints. Great cocktails, delicious and creative food, excellent staff. Always fun. Our waiter John, on Monday night 8/7, was attentive and super sweet. GO and make a ressie on busy nights as it's a popular neighborhood spot. Black and white movies, show tune sing-a-longs and dancing after dinner service ends. You will enjoy yourself.
