Food is consistently delicious at Dawson's. The waiter forgot to bring the salad that was ordered. He brought it after the entree but didn't charge us to make up for his error.
We were seated on time at 7:30, Party of 8.
Our food arrived almost 1 hour later, as we discussed at Table, 8 of us thought that was a very long time.
We saw no manager, just single speed (slow) employees.
Other tables that sat down after us finished their meal prior to ours arriving. At least 2 tables in immediate area.
Food tasted great! The steak sauces were good once they arrived.
Employees seemed more concerned about what was on their cell phone than the customer.
Service team needs a swift kick in the A**.
We decided, we would not likely be returning guests.
One of the worst meals I’ve had. The food was served like warm, the salad was dressed with almost no dressing. Overpriced and not quality food.
Food was average, really nothing special worth noting. Had to send my steak back as the outside was charred black and tasted horrible. Second steak came underdone but at least it wasn’t burnt. Wait staff was pleasant and friendly. For spending hundreds on a meal, I expected better for myself and my colleagues.
The food is delicious with an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is elegant and the acoustics lends itself to conversation. The wait staff is very professional. It's an excellent choice for a special occasion or an elite business meeting.

It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. Usually we go to Morton’s but had a show right next door. The server was nice and the manager was as well, but the food was horrible. My steak was over cooked and has zero flavor for a ribeye. My dates chicken (I know at a steak house) was not baked but seemingly fried. It had even less flavor and just tasted like it was oil. Not even the sauce could save it. The creamed spinach we only took one bite of and gave up. They did apologize and responded promptly, so we will likely give them a second try and see if it was just a bad night for the kitchen
Good food. Filet Mignon was delicious but undersized cut. Brussels sprouts were great Service was good but slow due to large groups and not well staffed
We thought the Caesar salad was not good and three of u ordered it. It was in a c shape on part of the plate. Did not like the lettuce at all..
We've had dinner here before and each time it is better than the last. This time our server was Jen, a wonderful and entertaining server. The supplemental staff were excellent, we did not have a want or need for anything for they kept providing us with everything without a word.
Shared the 28 day aged Porterhouse with husband. Delicious!!
Great food. From the scallops to the Alaskan crab legs to the roasted butternut squash and wild mushrooms, food was excellent. Would like the Cesar salad to have anchovies in the dressing, but they have them as a side.
French Press Coffee is a great item to close out the meal.
This is not the first time we have been at Dawson's but will be the last. Service was awful. Our female server was non existent. We waited 20 minutes to get an ice tea and never was offered a refill when it was empty. Our salads came before the ice tea, was the drink forgotten, who knows. Once the food came, my steak tasted like charcoal (I ordered medium). I realize the open flame taste is expected but not a burnt taste? My husband had some kind of seafood pot. He said it was awful. It seemed as it was a pot of everyone's left over seafood scraps collected after scraping the plates. What a total waste of $125. The place was not crowded and for the amount of money paid, the food should at least be edible.
Delicious food for a date night or birthday. Steak seasonings are great. Brussel sprouts are very tasty too.
Quite, charming, delightful experience with outstanding service and cuisine. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Son and daughter-in-law treated me to dinner before my flight back to East Coast. We each ordered filet mignon. Each was prepared as ordered: Medium-rare, medium-well, etc. Sides were generous to share. As I was not driving, I was able to enjoy two cocktails. Nicely made. As I was not paying, I do not know the total cost, but from having eaten there before, I'm sure price was good value for the money spent.
Food was great. Decent wine selection. Service could have been a little better. Overall the experience was fine.
Our waiter Arby was very professional and attentive. He was attentive to the point where he was able to see that my wife is a connoisseur of red wine. Also the assistant server, I believe her name is Michelle, was also very professional and attentive.
Dawson’s is very fortunate to have these two employees working for them.
We were promptly greeted and escorted to our table, which I requested a private booth in the reservation which was accommodated. Our table was served by a team of 4 who never let our table go without any services. Or main server Rick was knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly respectful. We got a round of cocktails that were made to perfection, the deviled egg appetizer that had robust flavor from the pepper, my date had the filet and I the Kansas New York with side of lobster Mac n cheese and Brussel sprouts. Or dining experience was flawless, and I’d highly recommend this restaurant.
One of our favorite places for fine dining! Staff is wonderful. Food is fantastic. Have spent many an anniversary dining at Dawson’s.

The food and ambiance were nice but what made the meal truly outstanding was the service. I had called earlier in the day to ask about the day’s catch and was very pleased to hear it was halibut so I made a reservation. When we got there for dinner, they were out of the halibut which was so disappointing. I mentioned this to our wonderful server (sorry I forgot his name but an very nice, older gentleman who was clearly highly skilled at fine dining service) who mentioned it to the kitchen. They remembered my phone call and had set aside a piece of the halibut for me in case I came in! I thought that was really well done. The filet was cooked perfectly and was tender and flavorful as well. Overall, an A+ experience.
Crab cake was very salty. Thought they took it off my bill but didn’t . That’s what they told me.
Overall service was excellent.
Overall, we had a good dinner. Salads and bread bowl were excellent. Chilean sea bass was great. The prime rib was tough! The server offered to get something else or comp a dessert, so efforts were made to make up for it. We would still go back.
This restaurant is way over priced. All of the food was barely lukewarm. One prime rib was cold and had to be reheated. The food was not properly spiced. They also did not remember that this was a birthday occasion
The food here was on point and my favorite was my duck appetizer. Service is wonderful they let you enjoy your meal without overly bothering you. Good atmosphere and a nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal.
Delicious 'Dine Downtown's menu and a great value at 35per person. The black garlic sauce on the salmon was really special.

This wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience and an amazing assortment of taste and smell. Reservations were made through Open Table as I’d selected this restaurant for the Sacramento Dine Downtown which was very easy. I was greeted by your hostess, Danielle, who was very friendly. While I waited for my party to arrive the bartender, Carrie, with a very big smile and great attitude took my order for a glass of wine. We were sat when our party arrived at our 7:45pm time. We had 5 people, we were sat near the kitchen, which I wasn’t too sure about at first. However, it turned out to be the best spot in the house in my opinion. Our Party all decided to do the Dine Downtown prefix menu and wine pairing. We were told that some items unfortunately they had ran out of, but not to worry they would make it up to us! So ok!

Here’s the thing, let’s go back to the location of our table.... while dining we got to see and smell what the amazing culinary team was doing. Seeing other amazing works of art come out of the kitchen and how happy the staff was makes for an even better experience. Thank you Suji, Lauren, Connor, Simon for the amazing food and experiences.

Last but not forgotten in the slightest way is Ardy, our server. He is hands down the best server I’ve come across in a very long time. He made sure everything was perfect! He cracked joke, he made suggestions, he made sure we had an experience not just dinner.
I do hope I didn’t miss anybody as the entire restaurant was just above and beyond my expectations and thank you for being a pleasurable and memorable experience. You’ve made 5 people’s nights and rest of our lives that much greater.

Our experience was exceptionally good. The service and food was outstanding, both in quality and timing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and responsive.

We eat at Dawsons on occasion. Most of the time everything is up to "steakhouse standards"...rich tastes..cooked right. Attentive service.. handling the pre-theatre Saturday rush. This trip was not up to par.
The waiter was nice, but talked too fast. He misrepresented the special, explaining that the peppers described were mild. The peppers were a sauce. But that wasn't the bad part. The fish was dry and overcooked. A chewy mess. We didn't send it back because the meal had already been delayed by an error in delivering our salads. In fact, a server brought two entrees to our table of four, meant for another table, while we were waiting for our salads.
They need to update the menu on their website. We had invited friends from out of town. The restaurant listed a pasta dish online that was no longer on the menu. We asked about the non-meat options.. there was only one, and the waiter offered that the entree was terrible, that nobody liked it.
My steak was terrific. The prime rib and side dishes were good.
It was odd that the ladies were offered ice for the water, but not the men.. just weird like things like that happened that night.
It is a great pre-show option. And it's mature enough that this shouldn't happen.

Dawson's is our traditional go-to restaurant before shows at the Sacramento Community Center. We appreciate the food (gluten free and more!), the service, the location, the atmosphere. They waitstaff is always fantastic!
Every time we have dinner at Dawson's we have been very pleased. The wait staff is exceptional, the food is consistantly well planned and prepared.
