Davio's - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Davio’s was a very nice restaurant with an amazing waitstaff. The tuna tartare appetizer and the seared scallops with sweet creamy corn entree were delicious. My husband and my son had the braised veal agnolotti and found it unimpressive. Their signature popover could be a meal in itself. A little butter and a good cup of decaf coffee and I’d be good to go!
Chose Davio's for our anniversary dinner as we've enjoyed dining at the new King of Prussia location. They wait staff was very friendly and were kind enough to acknowledge our anniversary. The food was very good and it was nice to see other choices from the other locations. Our waiter was sufficient but it was difficult to understand him as he spoke too quickly and quietly. We were not able to stay for dessert but they did provide a pretty plate of small desserts that said Happy Anniversary in chocolate!
While the ambiance and staff are outstanding, the food is sorely lacking. Overpriced. Pay so much attention to presentation and service, which are equally important, however the taste and menu fall short. The menu is confusing, appetizers and pastas, and main dishes are all over different parts.
I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted something that included steak and I wanted to try something new. When I arrived, it was beautiful inside. It was comfortable and cozy. The staff were courteous. I made reservations so we sat down right away. Our server was very helpful with helping us choose wine. The food was exquisite. I had the salmon. I would highly recommend this place.
This is a place you could eat every day and feel like it was a great experience each time. The wait staff is wonderful. We have had a chance to dine here over several days. The entire staff gets to know you. Even if you have a different waiter the waiters remember you down to what wines you had. This is a Philidelphia must for me.
This is a top rated restaurant. You really feel welcome and every need is attended to. I have had the pleasure of dinning at this fine establishment over the last several days. I was greeted by name by most of the wait staff. You really feel special and welcomed. On top of this the food and wine are outstanding. Can't wait to get back to Philly and spend time with them.
Davio's defines the quintessional Italian Steakhouse genre. Once you check in with the host, the staff calls you by name throughout the meal, a very nice touch. The menu is very large, many traditional selections with Davio's spin ( calamari, oysters etc), but the pruscuitto , peach & goat cheese antipasti is delicious and refreshing. I opted for the veal chop "classici"(table d'hote) which was served with creamy mashed potatoes asparagus &a port wine reduction. Every bite melted in my mouth. The veal was perfectly cooked, charred on the outside, juicy med-rare inside. The port sauce is served on the side for dipping, and the potatoes & asparagus were also flavorful. Dessert was a classic tiramisu, which was creamy and had a very delicate espresso flavor. The wine list is huge, with many vintages from both Italy and the USA. Service is spot-on. Even the manager stopped by to check with me. Can't wait to return.
We have been to Davio's many times, which is why we went back this time. It was very noisy, as usual, the service was friendly but not fully experienced. The restaurant claims to be an Italian Steakhouse so I decided to try one for the first time. It a little overdone and the meat didn't seem to live up to the price. A real disappointing visit after having many good times there.
The food was great! We had quite an assortment of dishes. The chicken liver appetizer, scallops, and halibut were very nicely prepared. The short ribs...good but not great..swimming in a watery liquid. The restaurant is a bit loud, it is big - was a former bank. If you are celebrating anything, no free dessert will be given because they do not do that! So many other great restaurants in that area who do. Love the area.
Like the convenience because we stay at Sofitel across the street often. I am also very fond of their specialty dishes like chicken livers with cherries and the different cheese steak rolls. Wasn't crazy about the pasta dishes or the dessert this time. Thought pasta was over seasoned and my wife's was oily. Dessert of affogato was truly mediocre at best and tiramisu was sugary sweet. Not impressed with the meal but Neil's service and conversation was great. Speedy and entertaining. We will go back and try again because we have had many excellent dinners here
