DaVinci's Eatery Ratings and Reviews
8 of us gathered for a birthday/pre- concert lunch. It was a quiet Sunday morning. Service was excellent. In just over an hour we were able to relax, enjoy the time and our food and got to the concert venue without feeling rushed. Everyone enjoyed their food. Unfortunately we did not get back there for the flourless chocolate cake- next time.
The services was outstanding and the food was fabulous. We had an excellent meal and experience overall. Would love to see a few more vegetarian options, but well able to find great food off of the regular menu. Family-friendly and great atmosphere. Particularly liked the Italian lesson in the restrooms!
Yummy! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, the garlic knots with olive oil for dipping were a favorite. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. The restaurant was noisy which made it difficult to have an intimate conversation. Overall this was an enjoyable dining experience.
This restaurant is just, sort of, okay. No atmosphere, very slow service, a poor wine list and a bit better than okay food, the place just falls short on every level. It's not bad on any front, but it's just not good on any either. Not a place I would go back to.
A fun, friendly place to grab breakfast from the takeout cafe which opens at 7:00 am, or a quick lunch to take out to the park...they also have lovely outside patio dining for lunch and dinner with waitstaff. You can choose to have the buffet which offered soup, fresh salad ingredients, meat chili and six varieties of pizza. That was not to my liking, however. Pizza was skimpy on toppings and crust was very "blonde".... Not crunchy and toasty looking. We chose from the dinner menu, which is available all day. Bolognese, linguini and clam sauce, crippling, minestrone and Italian Wedding soup. We ate a lot. No room for dessert, which was too bad because they looked wonderful.
DaVinci's was a great meal in a sleepy little town in the middle of summer. We were afraid we wouldn't find good food on our trip up to drop kids at camp. The half portions are a great option, interesting menu with light, salad and fish choices. Garlic knots and gelato were delicious. Worth the trip.
Food prepared well, larger party so took a bit longer than usual. Round table allowed 4 couple to sit so we could talk to all as opposed to long table. Server was excellent very attentive but not intrusive. Noise was great this time as we had our own corner. Neat old mill items decorations, large scale, etc
For some reason it seems like most good restaurants are not open on Sundays anymore. This is a real drag. DaVincis came through for me though as a nice dinner destination for my wife's birthday. She liked the special she got - shrimp pomodoro. I loved the seafood chopino. We received our food super fast, the portions are sized properly, and the salads and bread knots were awesome. We finished with a piece of lemon cake that was perfect. Overall, a really nice experience.
DaVinci's is always one of our favorite go-to places for dinner and great wine. You can feel a little fancier if you want, and not feel out of place, or you can be in a more casual mood and not feel underdressed. The dining room is spacious with low lighting, contributing to a fine dining atmosphere, but the friendliness of the waitstaff and bar help guests feel comfortable no matter the occasion. Although I don't work in Lewiston, it appears to be a great place for happy hour visitors just out of the office. Food comes in huge portions, so expect to take some home in a carry out container our server was proud to describe as "really nice carryout box"'s. It's trun--no Styrofoam--almost a reusable firm plastic bowl with lid, along with a nice firm-bottomed carryout plastic bag. Good variety of delicious menu offerings from typical expected pasta dishes with your choices of meats or shrimp, tasty flatbread appetizers, and the well known complimentary garlic knots. Great choice for a happy, relaxed dinner!
Sunday afternoon lunch. On the plus side, fairly extensive menu. Bruchetta and calamari appetizers were quite uninspired. The calamari tasted like old fried batter where the oil hadn't been changed for far too long. Seafood entrees were just ok; out of the four of us, no one raved. Most disappointing was the service. Salad without dressing, seafood dish without one of the accompaniments, waiter never once came by to ask how everything was, said he'd be back to fill water glasses but didn't. The passable food might have been more enjoyable had the service not been so subpar. You don't want to have 3 people finished with their salads, while the fourth is still trying to locate the waiter to let him know he forgot the dressing.
This was only my second time to Maine and I wanted to take my college student and friends out for a different meal than campus food. The restaurant is eclectic and I wasn't too sure what to expect, but found that it was great . Didn't look like an Italian restaurant but the food was excellent. Certainly not your ordinary restaurant...
Great Italian restaurant in a great historic mill building. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Nice for families and couples. We have been here in large and small groups. Our experience has always been the same. We have always enjoyed the food and the service. The atmosphere is bustling. It is not quiet, but it is set up so that you can hear your group without overhearing what others are saying.
Very good Italian food in a comfortable atmosphere. It can get a bit loud because of the high ceiling and hard surfaces, but that's what you get in an old mill building that's been beautifully renovated. Don't fill up on the garlic knots no matter how tempting!
