Service was incredibly slow. Brought out our sides as appetizers instead of as sides. Failed to take into account an allergy which left person without their food for about 30 minutes after the rest of the group.
Brunch is so good! There are so many options and it’s all delicious
The hostess/waitress with the injured hand was BEYOND annoying and rude. I can’t even explain the amount of eye rolls and looks she gave us because she was doing her job. If she’s reading this, maybe try a different occupation.
Great food and service. Price was reasonable. Restaurant was busy but noise level still allowed for conversation without shouting. Will return.
Truly a delicious burger. Love the double stack !! Thanks :)
Delicious food! Great atmosphere! We were seated right away with our reservation!
Good food, but not worth the pretentious service. They won’t substitute cheese type on their sausage egg and cheese.
Food mediocre but nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
This place was very cute but VERY crowded. I made a reservation for 1:30 and we weren't seated until 2:00. Why even offer reservations if you're not going to hold tables for people that actually took the time to make them?! On top of that, the table for the 4 of us should probably only seat 2 in practice. It was cramped and uncomfortable.
Perfect little cafe for a lunch catch up with a friend. Delicious poached eggs and crispy bacon!
The burger was as good and as juicy as the hype. Adorable, buzzy cafe with servers bringing out plate after plate of delicious looking dishes. Can’t wait to try more.
We arrived on time for our reservation but were told there was a wait because previous reservations had arrived late and pushed everything back. Not sure why the late-arriving diners were seated tbh because there was a huge crowd waiting at the door. We were seated after 30 min wait and service was functional but not pleasant or welcoming. Drinks were literally dropped to the table (and splashed a little). Maybe our server was a bit surly or they were understaffed but it definitely felt like a no-frills diner experience. Food was good, not outstanding. Seems like a decent place for grub but not worth the wait or poor service in my opinion.
Wonderful as always! If you’re looking for a nice but still casual brunch, perfect spot.
The food at David’s is excellent! Love the space and the atmosphere. The only thing that could be improved was the check in experience - we had to wait 10 minutes to get to the front to get our reservation/table. The staff could’ve been more attentive in this aspect.
We picked David’s Cafe to celebrate my birthday with a lovely brunch! The atmosphere and low-key vibe of the restaurant is what stood out to me along with the delicious menu options. It was a cozy environment for a party of 8. The food was spectacular! I ordered their well known burger and will definitely be heading back for more. All in all wonderful brunching experience.
I made a mistake and was 30 minutes late for our brunch reservation, but no one made a big deal about it and we were seated right away. The food was excellent - my omelet was way more flavorful than most and the home fries were the best I’ve had in a while. We got charged for two bloody marys that we never ordered, but the error was fixed with no trouble. We’ll definitely go back!
Terrific food and service. Great specials. Can't say enough about the food.
We snuck into David’s for a quick bite before going to The Public Theater. The pork was moist and tasty and just this side of too pink. Served over mashed potatoes with a taste of wine gravy.
We would come back without hesitation.
Needed a place near a little theatre in Alphabet City that was open late. They will allow you to order until 11. Everything was terrific, the hlf poulet, the moules frites, amazing champignons and the sweetest and most efficient wait staff. A new favorite for the East Village.
Food was good but service was awful. They had well intentions but were a bit clueless.
what a treasure: small, intimate, understated, not to mention good food, friendly service. no liquor license, but interesting cordial and wine-based cocktails. a must for any occasion.
Nice to find a casual dining spot with a very decently priced wine list and a reasonable noise level that allows conversation without shouting. Burgers and fries are famously superlative.
Food was awful ... we came very early because we had another evening event . So thought casual in neighborhood would work
I ordered the risotto ... it was not recognizable & tasted even worse
Appreciate that they didn’t charge us for it
Great fries. Good atmosphere
Great with allergies. Made sure to check all of their meals before I arrived and let me know what I was able to eat with my garlic allergy.
Brunch was wonderful! Loved the Eggs Benedict with coffee included. The atmosphere was perfect to have 3 friends catch up.
This was a random find. I am visiting from Miami, and was looking for good and inexpensive brunch. David's Cafe was amazing. We went in a large group and they were very accommodating. The food, OMG, it was so good for brunch. I have been recommending this place to actual New Yorkers. Thank you for a lively time.
David’s Cafe is consistently good. Obviously quality ingredients prepared skillfully. The service is attentive, but not intrusive and friendly. The tuna tartare, endive salad and poulet sauté impressed last night but I can vouch for the hangar steak, salmon and moules as well
Lovely staff, cute place, good food and wine. My friend and I both order moules frites and split a delicious kale salad. Super ambience, we sat and talked for hours comfortably. This is the kind of place that reminds me I need to visit the East Village more often!
Quintessential hipster place in heart of East Village. Nice retro vibe and great light from all window front, serving good quality items with good service.
Quality food, service, and brunch prices were all thumbs up! I will definitely be going back!
Always good. Consistently friendly service and the best burger.
We had a nice late Sunday brunch. The staff were attentive and the food was pretty good. The fries were a little over salted but that's just personal preference.
Started with the steak tartare which came pre-mixed with the Ingredients (normally served on the side) and it was amazing!! Modules frites were ok. Service was friendly. I’m not sure if the barman knew how to pour a beer, took for ever may be the keg was running low. It was quiet which was good.
A very solid neighborhood restaurant with well-prepared food at very reasonable prices. Friendly, efficient service and a good selection of wine and beer (no spirits). Highly recommended.
We were warmly greeted by the bar tender upon arrival. The waitress we had could not have been more attentive. We started with the tuna tartare and it was excellent. We both had the steak frites - large portion of steak. I loved the simple ambiance. I would definitely recommend and definitely go back.
Disappointing. Pleasant enough staff but meal was a big disappointment. I was visiting a friend in the area so we thought it would be convenient for a meal before going out for a film. Simply put, a mistake. The place was clean with a pleasant ambiance , menu limited . meal was edible ( I was very hungry). Tasted like the cook had the cap of the salt shaker fall off when seasoning the food.
What a gem this turned out to be. Great service, all meals were excellent. The burger was as good as advertised, which is saying a lot considering the hype. Only downside is they do not have a full liquor license. However, great beer and decent wine options.
low-key, friendly, lively, and warm. loved the food. will definitely return!
This is a neighborhood place all the way. Nothing fussy, but solid and relaxed. Service is easygoing, food is fresh and well-prepared.
