David Burke Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
We have been there several times in the past. The service from the waiter was not good at all. My date was just into appetizers, ordered several. Then I ordered a dinner, just me. He was kind of annoyed about how we were ordering. The place wasn't busy, a lot of empty tables, so I am not sure what his problem was. The busboys were very helpful.
I paid in cash, the bill was $139, I gave him $200 and was asked 3 times, 1 by a tall lady who took my check and twice by the waiter... It took 15 minutes to get change...
The food is outstanding. The dining room is very bright and an open space. Our server Sam was lovely and the manager Jesse was outstanding. I came for Christmas dinner and realized my favorite dish Japanese Eggplant Parm was not on the menu. I called the day before and he made sure even though it was not on the menu both myself and my mom (she loves that dish too) were able to order it. I also ordered the beef tartare which was very tasty! I would definitely go back and recommend it highly to others.
What a delightful lunch we had. The food was really exceptional - We had twins who were two - they loved it and there is not kiddie menu - an absolute must is the eggplant “parm” - the burger - one of the cities best - The staff was warm and lovely and happy to see two toddlers
My business partner had one of the craft cocktails and was raving about it, my husband the cider - and i thought The sparking rose was perfect - try the mushrooms - YUMMY - and the cake pops of course were a big hit with the kids - what a good choice for a “business” holdiday lunch
the Bacon is off the hook - hand cut made in house it was worth every penny!
Dinner Salad was fresh but lacked flavor.
The bread was true artisan bread - with each bite you could picture the baker kneeling every nook and corner - it not only look good but each different price was delicious.
the entries: i had a 2 inch thick ribeye which was cooked to perfections medium rare. It was a bit muscle but was seared and season perfectly, My Son had the Halibut a bit over cooked but tasty. My wife and daughter both had the Salmon cooked perfectly they both ate every piece.
we saved room for the Piecaken a bit disappointed as it tasted a bit stale and should have been retired earlier in the week.
we ended the evening with a delicious cup of hearty coffee and some of there homemade peanut butter brittle witch was delicious.
the service was attentive but not overly. Our family recommends with string 4 - we would have the money bread next time -
We really enjoyed our meals at The David Burke Kitchen. The menu was varied enough for all tastes, and the food was very good. The restaurant has a good vibe and a relaxed atmosphere. I had read other reviews critical of the professionalism of the wait staff. If this is most important to you then you may be disappointed. But, the atmosphere and quality of the food was most important to our group and we were not disappointed.
This is a really good restaurant! I usually do not like carrot, but the side which is honey baby carrot is really great! The appetizer oyster is so delicious that we ordered two. The cocktail is nice as well. I like the waitress here, because we didn't know what to order so asked her for advise, and the food she recommended are so delicious!
This restaurant has a wonderful outdoor garden space -- unfortunately, there are no vegan friendly options on the menu (Broccoli with cheese sauce? No... Just NO.)
It is unfortunate that a restaurant in a HOTEL in the most progressive city in the world has such an archaic view of cuisine.
We arrived and found the dining room closed and were directed to the "garden" (outside bar/terrace with tables), which was the only option available for seating. We approached the host who was on his phone and literally jumped and yelled when he noticed us standing there. He joked about us not really needing a reservation (no one else was there at 8:00pm in NYC) and seated us at a table. We began looking over the menu while my husband chose a bottle of wine (he asked the server if the wine he chose was good and he said, "How would I know? We have like 200 wines here." While waiting for him to bring the wine, the weather was turning fairly chilly and then the wind picked up. We sat there a few minutes and realized this was only going to get worse so we got up and let the host know it was just too chilly to have to sit outside so we'd just find some other place for dinner. The entire atmosphere screamed "This restaurant will soon be closed for good." I like David Burke and was very disappointed with this experience.
This is one of the best places to bring friends and family! We had a fantastic meal with great drinks, and cuisine. There is something for everyone on the menu, yet everything is high quality and has fantastic flavor. You will never have "just chicken" here. Staff is friendly and helpful as well. Great overall experience one of the best in the city.
We discussed how perfect the day was. Now the weather was just right to sit outside under the umbrella. Our waiter was adorable very personable and efficient. For me, it is sometimes difficult to find choices I enjoy but there were at least 3 is I would have loved to order.
we made the mistake of ordering steak at a non steakhouse and was disappointed. i felt so rushed to place our order . we were seated and given the menu for maybe 5 min and was asked three times if we're ready. and when we weren't ready to place our dessert order we were told we had to place it then and there since we were there for restaurant week and the guy said "okay order this" and he kept tapping his pen like he was annoyed we weren't ready. he continues to make a comment and when i retorted to his comment he tried to be funny and told me to relax and enjoy my dinner. horrible service! i don't think i will be returning to this restaurant anytime soon. way too many options in nyc to return. there was a $25 supplement for the steak when i was told on the phone that it was $15. and when i asked about one of the dessert the waiter said loudly that there's a $10 supplement . i can read that there's a $10 supplement, i wasn't asking about the price i was asking about the dessert. so of course we ordered something haphazardly and it was maybe the worst dessert i have ever had and any restaurant. it's summer but they managed to find the most un-ripped peach in nyc. it was just not good and no one should order it especially for the price! the cheesecake lollipop was good and was the reason why i did return , but i don't think it's good enough for me to return for a third time.
Took a friend here for his birthday. We had the Restaurant Week menu and really enjoyed the whole thing. Service was nice yet casual enough to feel comfortable. Food was well presented, and more importantly tasty.
Overall a great choice for a special occasion.
Top notch dining indoor and out
Our second recent visit to DB was a birthday lunch
Seated outdoors in an airy, large and pleasant space on a terrace above the main restaurant, the Reataurant Week menu offered ample choices at great value. We had baked oysters, whitefish salad and cheeseburger, all perfectly done and presented. The greeting and waitstaff were all friendly and helpful. A fine choice of wines by the glass complimented the lunch. We had delicious berries and chocolate mousse for desert.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Restaurant week. Obviously the restaurant doesn't care. Food was decent admittedly. But service was atrocious. Sat for over 25 minutes without getting a drink order in. Table seated 10 minutes after us had appetizers before we had a drink on the table. Honestly, if you are annoyed by restaurant week crowds, don't offer RW menus.
Went for a girlfriends day out during restaurant week. Ate in the upstairs outdoor dining area. View of city was fantastic! We almost felt like we were in a different place - no street noise. Server was very helpful & attentive. Great value for a 3 course lunch & food was delicious!
