Portions were tiny and everyone left hungry. Would not go back.
I had a 9:45 pm reservation which I was early for& was seated without much of a wait (Very beautiful and friendly hostess) . I was eating alone , which I do from time to time when I'm in the mood . I wasn't addressed by any wait staff until 10:11pm. I am not sure if it was because I was alone or the color of my skin or just plain old inattentiveness.(Besides the young man who came and asked if I wanted water. - roughly 10:03PM) I let the General Manager Percy know this however he didn't seem very interested. He asked how he could fix it (by presumably assuming I may have wanted some sort of comp for my wait) however I let him know I just wanted to provide that feedback. It is a turnoff to have such a beautiful restaurant with amazing dishes and wait staff who are obviously not privy to when new tables are "sat". (I used to work in a restaurant & I think it's strange that it took almost half an hour for my waiter to magically appear At this point I was highly irritated however stayed because It was already late and at this point I didn't feel like finding another place to eat.
Food Again was AMAZING! Can't take that away from the Head+Sous chef's who work hard to creating delicious dishes. My waiter again only came over once to check if everything was okay. I had to ask for another glass of wine from another staff member because my waiter was too busy cleaning up the back bar to check on me. Angelo (I believe his name was) saved the day. Honestly and truly would've given the service one star if Angelo didn't addressed my request as well as provided some much welcomed conversation. He saw I was a bit irritated with how my evening was going and really made an effort to turn it around . (I know he was just transferred from another location but CHERISH THIS MAN !)I usually never write reviews but absolutely had to as I love the food and the David Burke restaurants but Management should care more about feedback from all customers (Not just The white ones)
Service was incredible!!
My husband and I enjoyed dinner during our first visit to this restaurant. The hostess, server, and other restaurant staff were very friendly and extremely helpful during our visit. We will definitely make reservations at this restaurant during our next visit to NYC.
Delicious and luxurious!
One of the first to try the new menu and I loved it! The tuna tartare was very fresh (spicy), the broccoli was paired perfectly with the balsamic and feta, and as someone terrified of eating octopus, the octopus starter was perfectly prepared where there was no rubbery texture!! But hands down favorite was the scallops omg delicious 💯👌🏻 service attentiveness was pretty good; my friend has a gluten allergy and the server knew his stuff and if he didn’t immediately went to find the answer. They were very accomplished with making dishes gluten free🤗Recommend if youre trying to make a good impression!
We live close by and have probably been to David Burke kitchen 6 or 7 times over the past few years - we had always found the food and service really good. I don't know if the restaurant has a new management team or what is going on, but our last visit was not ideal. Everybody was nice, but the training of staff was not great - it's as if they were all new and organization seemed very off. When I made the reservation, I indicated that we needed a high chair, but unfortunately no high chair was already in place when we were given our table, and it took a while for the high chair to arrive - not ideal when you have a squirmy infant and impatient toddler to deal with. Then it seemed we were completely forgotten - no water came for almost 10 minutes until we finally flagged someone down. Then we never got greeted or explained anything by a waiter - we again just flagged someone down and said we were ready to order (the waiter clearly had no idea what was on the menu, he asked us to point out the dishes we were ordering - first time i've seen that). Our child was starving, so we asked for some bread. It never came, so we had to flag someone else down for bread. Then the food comes and it just did not seem as good as it once was. To top it off, the check came with an error (always review your checks!). My wife and I left wondering what in the world happened to one of our go-to restaurants??
Great option for Easter brunch! Service was not great but food was delicious and we got seated right away. Highly recommend it for all eaters.
Very good food and nice atmosphere but very over priced!!
It is amazing experience. Food is good and in fair price. Strongly recommend.
Great attentive service and very tasty food. Check it out if you can.
The service was beyond wonderful, and the food just as good. They brought us a free half order if their signature “clothesline bacon” dish near the end of our meal. And we also received a huge bag of Carmel corn for our trip back home. We were only in NYC for two nights, and this was a definite good choice.
Casual place in Soho, food was not memorable, expected more from David Burke, staff was friendly though
Perfect place for a birthday brunch!
Sent the steak back twice. Just think about that.
Second time dining there, hopefully the last. Waiter got order wrong, food adequate, nothing special. Lemon pound cake was old/dry. So many great choices in the area, this isn’t one of them.
Great first time experience
It was an amazing experience
The waiter assumed that I wanted a glass of wine when I was ordering one for my girlfriend, sidenote I do not drink, he told me it was all about her, which is funny because I had told him which one she wanted to try and which one she would have if she didn’t like it and did not even order a drink for myself but he wanted to feel smart. Then he asked what I wanted to drink I told him Diet Coke, then he repeated Diet Coke back to me in a shocked manner As if that wasn’t a real drink, then he proceeded to tip over the wine glass shattering it and shattering the candle at the table and smashing glass all over the place as well as red wine all over the place. After cleaning up the entire mess, he assured us that our first round was on him. I found that to be tacky, and also the least someone to do after making such a scene on Valentine’s Day. Also, the only round he bought was the wine I still paid full price for all of my Diet Coke’s none of which were “on him”. I asked him if he could assure me that the ribeye would be charred medium, And in and overconfident tone that was typical to his behavior, he said, “absolutely”. Needless to say the steak came out medium rare instead of what I had ordered, which was medium, he made sure to announce that he had it prepared medium rare, To which I didn’t respond because I wanted to get the meal over with at that point. As far as the steak being charged, there was some blackness to it but all of the fat was uncooked, none of it was crispy. Typically when a steak is charred the idea is to make sure all the fat is crispy especially on a ribeye.
Thank them for the free glass of wine that only cost us broken glass and spilled wine all over our table, not a bad deal
One of the finest cuts of Beef i have ever had . The service was outstanding. Martin was our server and he was spot on GREAT.
I love the food especially the roasted chicken breast with smashed potato. Fabulous!
The service and decor was excellent. The food was great.. the duck fat should have been rendered a little bit more .. and it was on the line of being medium as opposed to medium rare. It was as if there was a decision to be made of whether they were going to over cook the duck and it contain the crispy skin we were looking for or it was going to be sent out as is but cooked to temperature but still very flavorful. All in all a great experience..
Restaurant week -
The starter salad was not seasoned or with any dressing, the main dish was good but the deserts dry almost as if industrial- it was ok nothing mouth dropping good
Ordered from restaurant week menu. Service could have been more attentive in the beginning. Food was ok. Nothing was “mind blowingly” good. Overall it was just ok.
The octopus was divine and absolutely loved the miso black cod!
Great service! Went for restaurant week- very delicious but many of the food options had a price increase. Appreciated their full menu was available for restaurant week though.
Overall this was a pleasant surprise.
The food was delightful and the decor warm and inviting.
Went for Restaurant Week lunch. Food and drinks were perfect. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back again.
Very solid food. Came during restaurant week and had a good time. Service was incredibly slow though and the prices without restaurant week wouldn’t be worth it. Better places nearby.
Waiter (Daniel?) was attentive and thoughtful. His recommendations were spot on and genuine but with food like that, it’s easy to be excited! Food again was delicious and my family definitely enjoyed the restaurant week experience. We will certainly be returning for our next special occasion. Thank you for making my birthday dinner extra special.
Good food and service.
The food was delicious and the presentation of the food was great. The customer service and ambiance can use update. The bathroom was disgusting and not kept clean and tidy. It was nice to know the food was fresh from farmers, however I do not think I needed to see a picture of the farmers and their animals, while I am devouring a burger. I was confused about who was to follow up on checking up on my table, however when I did ask any of the workers for assistant, they were happy to do so.
Our first visit to this restaurant, but will not be our last. Reservation was honored on time, and they offered to seat us at a very comfortable table in a nice area of the restaurant. A creative, distinct, and really tasty array of appetizers for individuals or table sharing. Wonderful main courses, sides, wine and drinks, and desserts. (Be sure to end your meal with the drunken donuts!) Particularly enjoyed the steak selection (and perfect preparation). Good offerings on type and size of steaks. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Well timed; no wait, but not rushed, and server and manager checked with us periodically to make sure it was satisfactory. Out with friends and we stayed for hours with no problem. Very rare to find this service in similar restaurants. Layout is nice; not cramped, but not overwhelming either and décor adds to the meal. Thanks, Open Table, for including DBK as an option when some of our other favorites in SoHo were booked. Going back soon with other friends!
After meeting Chef David Burke at the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival I had to come to New York and I had to try David Burke Kitchen it was great I wish I could have did it for dinner I did it for brunch excellent choices my steak and eggs were excellent and the sauerkraut was a nice touch my daughter had the egg sandwich which was incredible the sausage was great we had the clothesline bacon was great taste it's incredible would go back again next time I'm in town without a doubt but for dinner thanks Chef you guys are doing a great job!
Came on a Friday night. Despite the mess at the hostess stand We were seated around 9:15 for a 9:00 reservation. It took about 50 minutes to get the appetizer and close to 40 for the entrée. Our server was apologetic, attentive, and offered a drink on the house for the wait. The food was great, just wish it came out a little sooner.
The food was ok- average, had higher spectations. The service was very poor, reservations were stagered, our server was very distracted and inattentive, made mistakes with our food, and our check. It was our first experience at this restaurant, not enticing of a second one.
Great food. Waited a little bit for our table. Service was very good.
First time here. Waited about 30mins for our table. BUT it was worth it!
The service was very good - informative and attentive. The food was very good. The management needs to reconsider how they reserve tables - with a reservation we waited over 30 minutes, several other parties were waiting as well and the crowding from everyone waiting was unpleasant. After 30 minutes they did give us each a half flute of prosecco.
