David Burke Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The waiter assumed that I wanted a glass of wine when I was ordering one for my girlfriend, sidenote I do not drink, he told me it was all about her, which is funny because I had told him which one she wanted to try and which one she would have if she didn’t like it and did not even order a drink for myself but he wanted to feel smart. Then he asked what I wanted to drink I told him Diet Coke, then he repeated Diet Coke back to me in a shocked manner As if that wasn’t a real drink, then he proceeded to tip over the wine glass shattering it and shattering the candle at the table and smashing glass all over the place as well as red wine all over the place. After cleaning up the entire mess, he assured us that our first round was on him. I found that to be tacky, and also the least someone to do after making such a scene on Valentine’s Day. Also, the only round he bought was the wine I still paid full price for all of my Diet Coke’s none of which were “on him”. I asked him if he could assure me that the ribeye would be charred medium, And in and overconfident tone that was typical to his behavior, he said, “absolutely”. Needless to say the steak came out medium rare instead of what I had ordered, which was medium, he made sure to announce that he had it prepared medium rare, To which I didn’t respond because I wanted to get the meal over with at that point. As far as the steak being charged, there was some blackness to it but all of the fat was uncooked, none of it was crispy. Typically when a steak is charred the idea is to make sure all the fat is crispy especially on a ribeye.
Thank them for the free glass of wine that only cost us broken glass and spilled wine all over our table, not a bad deal
The service and decor was excellent. The food was great.. the duck fat should have been rendered a little bit more .. and it was on the line of being medium as opposed to medium rare. It was as if there was a decision to be made of whether they were going to over cook the duck and it contain the crispy skin we were looking for or it was going to be sent out as is but cooked to temperature but still very flavorful. All in all a great experience..
Waiter (Daniel?) was attentive and thoughtful. His recommendations were spot on and genuine but with food like that, it’s easy to be excited! Food again was delicious and my family definitely enjoyed the restaurant week experience. We will certainly be returning for our next special occasion. Thank you for making my birthday dinner extra special.
The food was delicious and the presentation of the food was great. The customer service and ambiance can use update. The bathroom was disgusting and not kept clean and tidy. It was nice to know the food was fresh from farmers, however I do not think I needed to see a picture of the farmers and their animals, while I am devouring a burger. I was confused about who was to follow up on checking up on my table, however when I did ask any of the workers for assistant, they were happy to do so.
After meeting Chef David Burke at the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival I had to come to New York and I had to try David Burke Kitchen it was great I wish I could have did it for dinner I did it for brunch excellent choices my steak and eggs were excellent and the sauerkraut was a nice touch my daughter had the egg sandwich which was incredible the sausage was great we had the clothesline bacon was great taste it's incredible would go back again next time I'm in town without a doubt but for dinner thanks Chef you guys are doing a great job!
Came on a Friday night. Despite the mess at the hostess stand We were seated around 9:15 for a 9:00 reservation. It took about 50 minutes to get the appetizer and close to 40 for the entrée. Our server was apologetic, attentive, and offered a drink on the house for the wait. The food was great, just wish it came out a little sooner.
The food was ok- average, had higher spectations. The service was very poor, reservations were stagered, our server was very distracted and inattentive, made mistakes with our food, and our check. It was our first experience at this restaurant, not enticing of a second one.
The service was very good - informative and attentive. The food was very good. The management needs to reconsider how they reserve tables - with a reservation we waited over 30 minutes, several other parties were waiting as well and the crowding from everyone waiting was unpleasant. After 30 minutes they did give us each a half flute of prosecco.
Restaurant week. Servers look at guests as “restaurant week people = no money” and the service most of the times is bad bad. It was no exception here. They made us decide the dessert even before we had some bread because of the way “Micros” was setup. Since the moment I offered myself to help the server how to properly setup their system so guests would be able to decide desserts at the very end, server acted and was rude. Food was good and restaurant atmosphere was nice.
We were here for restaurant week on a Friday night so of course it was bustling! But all the staff from the hostesses, waiters and bartenders were on their game and super nice! They moved our table when we were first sat near the entrance where the crowd waiting to be seated were huddling and they so kindly moved us to a table that was finishing up further inside. The waiter took our menu and it felt like mere minutes before our appetizers were out. The quantity of food was plentiful and delicious! Highly recommend the sweet potato dish! At the end of the night because it was so busy our waiter graciously brought us a round of bubbly and found us room at the bar. What otherwise would be a tricky move to make he did with grace. Will be back!
I enjoyed my dining experience overall. I visited during Restaurant Week and loved that they had a robust variety of menu options rather than the three per course. The drinks were great and meal was flavorful. The desserts were my least favorite part, but overall was a great way to end the week!
Went for a late lunch on Friday to experience the restaurant week deal and I was very impressed! I got the burrata, squid ink cavatelli, and chocolate coconut tart and they were all very delicious! The service was nice and not hounding and they let me take my time even though I was alone.
Went here last night for Restaurant Week.
Unimpressed with the food and the experience. Inattentive servers and pricey for the quality (cold, stale dessert). We were disappointed.
I’m confused why this place has such high ratings- maybe it was different because it’s Restaurant Week but I would not recommend.
We tried this restaurant for Restaurant Week and found the food as good as the reviews. Presentation was excellent. The noise level was a little higher that we like, but they were filled to the brim due to Restaurant Week. Service was less attentive than we are used to, but again, they were a little overwhelmed. I will definitely return for a non Restaurant Week experience.
I was impressed that they had taken the time and effort to create a special menu for restaurant week. The menu choices were better than most of what I had seen elsewhere, with some a la carte starter options in addition to the restaurant week course menu. One minor hiccup was the delay in getting our cocktails, but the bar gave us sparkling wine and even comped our post-meal macchiatos to make up for it. Our server was also very engaging and made the overall experience more lively and fun.
Beautiful space with great variety on the menu - the squid ink cavatelli is my favorite dish, and the duck is phenomenal too. Cocktails can use more creativity, service was a bit slow but still attentive. The cheesecake lollipop dessert is one of the best sweet finishes I’ve had and easily shareable. Loud but fun spot, definitely a good date night here and there.
Amazing food and ambiance. This is my third visit here and I'm always satisfied. My first visit to David Burke's was uptown which is now closed. My boyfriend and I loved the food and decor at the uptown location and was so disappointed when it closed. Why???
Anyway, we loved it there so much that we tried the downtown one in SoHo and also were satisfied with the food, although we prefer the decor uptown (UES) much better.
