Davenport's food is a joy to the eyes and the tastebuds.
Always really good to great. Love Chef Kevin Gibson’s food !
Appealing menu, intriguing preparations, nice reasonably priced French wines by the glass. Friendly service. Who could ask for more?
Once again, had a very yummy dinner at Davenport! My two favorites: Scallops with sea plant and tuna ceviche. Service was amazing. We brought friends from out of town, and they loved it. Can't wait to go back. Davenport never disappoints.
Food and service were great. Love the small space atmosphere too
I have eaten here 5 times and have never been disappointed. Our waitperson’s recommendations were spot on. This is a wonderful place to share small plates. Try it; you won’t be sorry.
Everything was WONDERFUL! We received a lovely greeting when we arrived. Everyone was so friendly, laid back, and incredibly knowledgeable. The food was amazing!!!!! We will be back. New favorite in Pdx and that’s saying a lot!
Unassuming, simple yet refined, flavorful food and top notch service. Was pleasantly surprised by our meal here and will definitely be going back. My only disappointment was we took our charming and attentive server’s advice and ordered 4 plates to share amongst the 2 of us. We could’ve easily eaten six.
We sat in the open window. LOVED the comfort of making reservations, being able to talk without shouting. The food was amazing. We will be back.
Great food! Waiter was prompt and helpful. Very on top of our service. We will be back, and no problem recommending to friends for a great dining experience! Overall
The food was phenomenal and the service was awesome. Our server did a wonderful job steering is in the right direction for food choices and picked an amazing bottle of wine for us based on what we told him we liked and disliked in wine.
We’re looking forward to going back for a different season to test the new menu!
food was excellent , prepared with a personal touch. no other restaurant in pdx serves this kind of good in such a unique way
We've been going to Davenport for years and it is always consistently excellent!
We enjoy Davenport—the innovative menu, exemplary execution, friendly staff...but they were at the top of their game at our most recent experience. Always a delightful experience, Saturday night’s dinner was the best we have ever had there. Friends from Kauai were in town and declared it the best meal in the last five years. What was good? Scallop crudo. A simple dish, but it succeeds because of the quality and handling of the scallops, and just the right olive oil and citrus Oysters, same. Great quality, and perfectly presented. Freshly shucked, cold, freshly shredded horseradish and lemon. We also had the wagyu, seafood salad, pork pate and butter lettuce salads. Everything was very very good. If only the restaurant were closer to our house, I suspect we would eat there at least 2 or 3 times a month. It is our favorite special occasion restaurant, not because it is fancy...but because the food is so good. Their wine list is superb.
We love this place. One of our standbys. So fresh and delicious and innovative yet simple.
Best food I’ve had in Portland in a long time and the wine list to match
Nice selection of small plates to share. The plates we ordered were all very good and creative. The bartender was very knowledgeable about wine pairing and their wine selection was amazingly diverse. He brought out an off-list bottle based on
our interests that was lovely. Overall a nice experience and looking forward to the next meal there.
Great little restaurant with a nice vibe. Excellent cocktails and wine and nice shareable dishes.
Stopped in a for the first time for a quick dinner. It’s tapas style small/medium plates to share. The environment is pretty basic, portions are modest, the prices are fair, the service was good (expect them to space out the dishes pretty well, unless you ask for otherwise). The big win was that the Wagyu steak dish was one of the best dishes that I have ever eaten! We ordered a second plate of it, and it was just as good.
Best enjoyed with 4-6 friends so you can sample many items.
This restaurant is not a value. We were told that the plates were enough to share for a party of 4. There were only very small 2 lamb cheeks per order. The fava beans were served with the uneatable shell. We have never seen this done in a restaurant. When questioned, the waiter said that many people like to eat the skin and walked away from our table!
VERY DISAPPOINTED in our neighborhood restaurant!
The food at Davenport is always interesting and excellently prepared.
Never fail to find interesting combinations on the ever changing menu.
Over several visits we have never been disappointed
If any concern, it would be the lack of some entry priced wines on what is otherwise an excellent list that is obviously chosen with care.
The customer service was excellent! Will definitely go again!
It was our first time there. Service was prompt. The server was friendly and helpful. Everything we ordered was excellent. We will return.
A truly inspired restaurant. Every dish is prepared with meticulous attention to the ingredients and presentation. The staff is very knowledgeable and makes you feel like a welcome guest. And of course, even the wine glasses are spectacular. Davenport never disappoints.
This has become my favorite restaurant. There may be a couple of places in Portland with equal or a tad better food, but I can get a reservation here, Kurt knows me and finds me great wines, and the food choices always include a few that blow me away. This time, there were chard dumplings in a cheesy sauce, so good we had to have seconds. The Waygu beef was strikingly tender, and the halibut (sous vide?) was perfect.
This was just the dining experience I was hoping for. My dining friend and I shared three plates of absolutely exquisite food. The portions were smallish, but very well prepared, springtime fresh, and delicious.
We ordered the wagyu beef, the beets and the fritto misto. The fritto misto (like tempura veggies) included cardoon (artichoke stalk) and sweet potato and was lightly coated in rice flour before being fried so was very delicate and delicious. The wagyu beef was incredibly tasty and tender. The beets were silky. I have celiac and was able to eat virtually anything on the menu.
If I were hungry I’d probably want four dishes for the two of us to share.
The only problem was there was a large group at the table next to us that included 5 children so it was very noisy. I don’t think they represent typical diners at Davenport so wouldn’t let that get in the way of going. Later in the evening when we walked by the windows were all open and the restaurant was abuzz with happy diners.
Our friend from england is thinking about moving to portland so she can live near here.
Food was very good but quite pricey for the quantity given. Basically it’s tapas type food which is normally small portions but the price per portion was essentially an entree cost. For example, duck breast was 5-6 small pieces, as expected, but cost about $20. This was similar for many of the tapas.
We've been a couple of times and enjoy everything about the experience.
This is a gem in the neighborhood and I can’t believe I’ve lived here for years without dining here. Our server was attentive and helpful. The wine list is impressive and the food was spectacular. Everyone was fresh and delicious and the plating was lovely. So glad we came! It won’t be the last time for sure.
The wine selection best in Portland and the recommended bottle we had was fantastic. The food was spot on, done to perfection, very tastie. The presentation/plating of the food was very professional. The servers were very friendly and professional as well. I would recommend Davenport to everyone.
Food was ok, good in a town with lots of great restaurants. Our waitress was lovely but the gentleman who came to our table to tell us to leave after an hour and 3/4 was a bit overbearing. I probably won't go back.
Average mediocrity is how I would describe the food. It was Good but in our very competitive food scene, nothing made it exceptional.
extensive vine list with knowledgeable staff to give recommendations ...
Perfect scallops ...
Simple and sophisticated little gem ...
Portland Dining Month options were fantastic! Steak or scallops. Pana cotta was delicious too!
Davenport is always a wonderful dining experience!
Really good food and service. The only thing I wasn't happy with is that they don't serve coffee (!?!?). It would have been delicious with the panna cotta.
