Davanti Enoteca - Western Springs Ratings and Reviews
Another pleasant evening at Davanti. Pleasant and personable service was the highlight. Food is good quality and nice variety. Our friends both had minor concerns about the prep of their food which our server offered to return to the chef but overall the concerns were not major. Nice wine for a good price. We will return often.
Four friends met for dinner and we all enjoyed the food. We wanted to be in the smaller room --thinking it would be quiet. However, there was a party of 8+ that was truly having a good time and the noise level was extremely loud. Not that we don't want people to have a good time, but it interfered with us trying to have a conversation about 12 feet away. Would go back.
We dined for Thanksgiving lunch. The buffet was filled with fresh, homemade -tasting, salads, pastas, and traditional turkey and sides. The prime rib was perfect as well as the turkey. Both So tender! We arrived at 2:30 and sat immediately. Perfect time to go. Not busy yet.
The service was attentive and friendly. The chef was at the carving station, making sure we were happy with everything. I have been here several times for dinner, will make it our holiday destination.
We waited 40 minutes for a table despite having a reservation. While it's understandable that sometimes things don't go right, I would have expected more interaction from the host. The food left a lot to be desired flavor-wise, and our entrees (one of which was a Caesar salad with no meat) came out 5 minutes apart.
Great food, great service. We went for brunch and enjoyed the corned beef hash and steak and eggs. Everything was prepared just right and was quite delicious! Victoria is an excellent server - she remembers her returning guests, greets everyone with a smile and ensures total customer satisfaction!
In spite of a big parking lot, there was no place to park. They were running pretty far behind seating reservations. We were warned that it would be so, but I wasn't too happy that the entrees didn't come out even close to at the same time. A bit noisy if you want to have a conversation. That said, they're very nice, it's a nice, cozy dining room, the food is delicious and they were kind about giving us a little birthday treat.
I’ve been here several times and the experience has varied each time. This time I ordered a spaghetti entree dish and the portion was what I’d expect for an appetizer- but at an expensive entree price. And it comes with nothing. I mean nothing- not even bread. There was probably 1/20 of a lb of pasta and bolognese sauce, that fit like a tiny blob in the middle of the dinner plate. How expensive is dry pasta??
As for bread- it’s an ITALIAN restaurant and I had to ask for it, and they brought a dinner plate with four slices of COLD WHITE TOAST on it. ?????
I’ve had a good brunch and lunch there, but this dinner experience was lackluster.
We love this place and were thrilled to get a table at the last minute, thanks to Open Table. We had several items from the regular menu and one of the specials from the evening. Everything was wonderful (except the red sauce that was on the meatballs, it was so bland). The wine was amazing and the special wines open by the glass for that evening only were especially good. Service was friendly and efficient. Price was comparable to what we have paid nearby for less tasty food. Love the atmosphere. It is bustling but still easy to have a conversation with friends. We will be back!
First time having lunch at Davanti Enoteca - Western Springs and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is fresh and creative. They are also willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. I had quite a few options as a gluten free diner. The food did not disappoint and the location is perfect for meeting friends for lunch.
My husband and I went to the restaurant for our 13th wedding anniversary. It was a great experience. The food was delicious! The portion sizes were just right and the service was fast. Our waiter was pleasant and friendly and the atmosphere was good. Definitely would be attending again :)
My husband and I love Davanti and always come here before seeing plays at the Theater of Western Springs. This time we chose to sit in the bar area because there was a beautiful rainbow outside that we could see from our bar table by the window. The Cubs playoff game was on at the bar, which made it fun as well. Unfortunately the service in the bar area was not quite as good as in the regular dining room. The server didn't seem to have a good knowledge of wine (which wouldn't be a big deal except that Davanti kind of bills itself as a wine bar). I ordered a 5-oz glass of wine but he accidentally brought me an 8-oz one, but when I brought it to his attention he said he would only charge us for the smaller one and let me keep it (good answer!). Then, when I ordered a white wine to go with our main courses, the woman who brought it out started to pour it into the glass that had contained the first wine (a red)! Oops! Next time we'll just go back to sitting in the main dining room.
I LOVE Davanti!! The food has great flavor and presentation! We were celebrating our Anniversary and when we checked in with our reservation the manager Brianna quickly and sincerely congratulated us on it which made us feel special right away! She made sure to seat us at a table where we could have a nice view but not be crowded by people. Our server was very professional and yet made us feel at home. The wine selection as well as the table presentation of the wine was perfection! At the end of the meal the manager brought out a delicious dessert called the Brown Butter Blondie on the house for our special occasion which was a loving touch. We will be back very soon to this second home of ours!
This is one of my favorite restaurants and I try to go as often as I can, but this evening they had booked a reunion in the bar area and it was very busy. We were not seated until 40 minutes after our reservation. I am quite pregnant so standing that long in a crowded bar area was tricky. No one apologized for the wait or the inconvenience, which was disappointing.
We love this place every time we visit it is wonderful. The food is out of this world and I love sharing different things each with everyone at the table. Such a fun relaxed atmosphere makes you feel like you are at home just sitting around the table. Just wish there was one closer to me. We moved to St. Charles and there is nothing like that out here............but one can only hope in the future there will be one.
We were a party of 6 and all of us enjoyed our entrees. 2 of our group ordered burgers and they were outstanding. We were there on a Wednesday when they have half off on bottles of wine and we took full advantage of this. The staff and management were great and we're looking forward to our next visit there.
My husband and I have been to Davanti Enoteco several times before and always had a pleasant meal. However, several things contributed to a less than satisfying experience the other night. We preferred to be seated outside so the hostess seated us at a table all the way in the back. Occasionally there was an unpleasant odor and my husband's view was of gas tanks. This area should have been reserved for set up or anything other than seating. When dinner was served, mine arrived so much later that my husband was half way through his meal. I had the Fettuccini Grembali (with no offer of grated cheese) and my husband the trout. Both seemed to be missing something and were rather bland. Although we never complained, the waiter sensed something and offered us a free dessert. I will not give up on the restaurant but Davanti Enoteca needs to step up their game.
Food was great. Service was terrible. We came for a late lunch, and there were only 3 other tables being served, but we never saw our server. She took our order for appetizers, but only came to us after we had finished our appetizers and wanted more. We asked her what the specials were and she said she would find out, and never came back. After waiting 15 minutes, we asked another server for our check and left.
The food was great, at least as far as the appetizers were concerned. We had the truffle egg toast and the polenta, both of which were delicious. We never had a chance to eat anything else due to the poor service.
