About Davanti Enoteca - Taylor Street
With rustic exposed brick walls, re-purposed farm wood and communal tables, Davanti Enoteca takes its cues from the small villages of Italy. Diners enjoy authentic Italian dishes they would find in the Italian countryside, but with a contemporary, creative twist. The start diners may choose from the selection of formaggi and salumi which is designed for guests to create their own boards by choosing from unique options. Instant classics include the boards that are presented to the table. The Foccacia de Recco is a flaky Ligurian style foccacia, baked and stuffed with creamy melted crescenza cheese and served with honeycomb to spread on the warm pastry. Buttery marscapone polenta is ladled on a wooden board and served with ragu of the day.

Davanti Enoteca - Taylor Street Ratings and Reviews
We had a great meal and service here. My husband had the blonde pizza and it was yummy. I had the burger with fries that was outstanding. The beer selection was good and wine by the glass choices were better than most places. Our waitress was on top of everything. A very nice evening.
We sampled so many great dishes, including octopus, pizza, bruscetta, pasta and a foccacia Davanti is known for. I wasn't able to chose a favorite, but my daughter's was the foccacia, with everything else a close second. The service was fantastic as well! Can't wait to go back and enjoy the Bloody Mary bar and other menu items - like the burger!
I’ve been to this location for brunch on the weekend many times and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so, that when a friend mentioned meeting up for dinner, I selected Davanti. This was my first time on a Tuesday evening and truly from start to finish, it was a completely different restaurant. Started off with the happy hour (don’t jump to assumptions, we spent $50 each before leaving - tried to spend more, however, it took over 15 minutes to gain the waitress’ attention and by then we had grown weary of begging for our next course) the bartender was also the hostess - unfortunate as she didn’t appear to be a people person. Once we moved from the bar to our table, the new waitress was friendly, however, not time efficient. Maybe the happy hour assumption was made as well, but don’t offer HH if the management/staff isn’t on board. The food was fine - not as good as the brunch, however, it could have been the experience overall that dulled my palate. The one saving grace, and I must say, this is a consistent win for this restaurant, is the busing team- they are attentive, efficient, friendly, and knowledgable on the flow of a meal. They also seem happy to have you. Had it not been for our buser, we would have left - my friend mentioned going across the corner to another restaurant to finish the meal right before our buser’s arrival. Also, the menu changed, but the website is out of date - no more mussels or even bolognese. I will return for brunch - once I’ve seen the new menu, but there are so many alternatives for dinner in the area, unlikely I’ll try this one again. Of course, maybe this was the C team in play on a Tuesday night?? New management approach??? I’m making excuses as I really hope my experience was just a one time miss as I’ve always favored this spot.
One of my favorite dinner spots! Great food, and really everything is great! The service is really what brings me back, over the past 3 years we have had the pleasure getting to know Ron, Christina and Helen. They are all top-notch, providing us great selections of foods and dinner for whatever mood we are in. Ron’s knowledge on wine is fantastic and Christina recommendations on different food items always brings us back. We highly recommend Davanti on Taylor!
Upon entering this Taylor St. restaurant, It feels warm and inviting yet vibrant and full of energy that would appeal to any age group. The first stop I made was to the gender neutral restroom which is wallpapered in famous gangster film posters. The waiter was very accommodating as we were headed to a concert at the United Center so had to eat and run. We shared the Peppery and sweet combination of the Arugula and roasted grape salad. We followed that with the most tender and tasteful Ricotta Dumplings and a nutty Risotto perfectly balanced with sweet corn. The wine was okay and a bit pricey. Overall, we will go back again.
A great find in Little Italy section of Chicago. You MUST try the focaccia and the 600-day prosciutto is to die for. We went on a Wednesday evening which turns out to be "half-price wine night." EVERY bottle was half price...amazing! There are other locations of this restaurant, but the original has a charming decor. You'll feel like you are dining in a wine cellar.
From the time you walk in to the end of your meal, the service, front staff, waitress, etc., were out to accommodate you in a most courteous fashion.
My friend who is a gourmet cook and has traveled extensively commented on the food: delicious, (the polenta particularly), authentic, beautiful presentation. Very nice wine list. Overall, great experience
Enjoyed a nice meal with a friend the other evening. The server was knowledgeable about the menu, had good timing, and was friendly. The restaurant has small plates, but I have a hard time sharing. Ordered the mussels and Brussels sprouts - both items were delicious! My friend enjoyed the burrata and the gelato trio. The ambience is warm and understated - great for a fall/winter dining experience.
There were 6 of us in our party, in Chicago from NYC as two people in our group were running the Chicago Marathon the next day. This was the perfect place to carb load! Most things are family style/tapas like, and best for sharing. We had someone who is gluten free in our group as well as a vegetarian, and also a very picky eater, and there were options for everyone. The pastas were particularly good, as were the pizzas.
Visiting from Texas. Found Davanti in a search for nearby restaurants with small plates and a good wine list. Trying to get out a bit, away from the masses in town for the marathon. Davanti is in a nice neighborhood. Looked like a lot of locals. The hostess stand was a little disorganized but everything got better from there. There was a variation on a ravioli type dish that had winter squash and ricotta inside instead of asparagus, and in a brown butter with pumpkin seeds. Excellent! Prosciutto meatballs were very good too. Waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful with wine pairings. Very nice dessert. Reasonably priced. Would definitely go back if ever in the area.
It was the Chicago Marathon so every Italian place was a bit insane but they really struggled with timing of dishes and our server seemed really overwhelmed. I understand that they had items come out as they were ready but we ordered 2 identical burgers which arrived about 20 minutes apart. We were very frustrated with the service but the food was really good.
We have been to this Davanti location many times and always had a wonderful experience. This time was different. The service was horrible. We had a 2:00 pm reservation so the restaurant was very slow-just a few tables. Our waitress greeted us and then promptly forgot us. Twice we had to go get her, where she was chatting at the bar, so we could place an order. We first asked a waiter who was rolling silverware at the table next to us if he could get our waitress for us but he pointed to the bar. We were hosting out of town guests and were very embarrassed because we had told them how good Davanti was.
The food was phenomenal and the service by Ron was just as good...he made you feel like we were dining at his home...Great personality and great recommendations for dinner and dessert. I will definitely return and tell all my friends about this great place!!! xoxo
