My all time favorite!! Can’t wait to go back ❤️
Very unique and delicious food. Italian with modern and interesting twists. Highly recommended for groups to share things. Also a great wine list
very good. the chicken liver was very good. They are generous with bread! sea food pasta was okay.
Went for a late lunch this week. Fortunately the tables around us cleared out soon after my friend and I arrived, as the initial noise level was more than I could bear. Once things calmed down, we enjoyed the ambience but especially the food. We each had the asparagus soup that was a special that day — it was light and flavorful. Both our pasta dishes were delicious. Not sure I’d race back but it was fun to try.
We love this place. Every time we come to Chicago we make it a priority to eat here at least once. This trip we did back to back nights. Our server Katrina was awesome. I would recommend Davanti Enoteca.
The food was excellent. The service not so great. I asked for the “house” Cabernet a 5oz glass. I’ve worked in the service industry myself for 10 years. When someone order “house” liquor/wine that’s code for cheap. So I ordered my wine. We ordered 2 appetizers and when he came back with our drinks we asked for food recommendations. Once we ordered our food and I felt like it was too much (while he was still at our table) I said, maybe we will not get one of the apps we ordered. He said it’s already at the window. Unless it’s on our table and we started eating it, that is not the right response. So he basically forced us to also eat/pay for the app (which was toast and spread by the way). We ate our delicious dinner and both ordered another drink. When our tab came. My two 5 oz glasses of “house” wine were $10 each. Seems a bit ridiculous. I felt like his goal was just to get our tab as expensive as possible and not really listening or caring about the customers. Sometimes “upselling” shouldn’t be the only goal.
the food is excellent. the servers were not very attentive when delivering to take away the completed dishes. However our server was great. This is the most underrated restaurant in Little Italy AND my favorite.
I'm torn, because on a week night, when the place isn't so crowded, it can be quite enjoyable. But on a weekend night, it was packed and there were several large tables with people almost shouting at one another to be heard, which only drove up the noise level even more. I could barely hear my wife, so conversation during dinner was almost impossible. The food and service were good, but the overall enjoyment level was very low. I would never go back on a weekend night, and probably only eat there again if I was walking by and saw that it wasn't packed and loud.
Reece took excellent professional care of us.
We decided to try new things.
Neither of us would order the prosciutto-veal meatballs again because they were overwhelmingly salty. Other than the delightful texture, we could discern nothing but salt in the meatballs or the sauce. We were disappointed.
The husband ordered the Pollo Limoncello and liked the flavors and the presentation atop cauliflowerettes. He'd order it again.
I ordered the Orichette ala Verdure with fennel sausage added. I liked the rapini which was perfectly cooked in all its glorious bitterness, and the crumbled fennel sausage. However, the pasta seemed gummy and undercooked to me. I was most disappointed and will not recommend this dish nor ever order it again.
The Brown Butter Blondie and the salted caramel gelato were excellent for dessert.
This is the first time we have been disappointed by the dishes selected at DaVanti Enoteca, but it's our fault for ordering new things without seeking advice!
Service was excellent. Ambience was noisy and friendly.
Loved every minute of our dining experience. The food & ambiance on the roof top was perfect.
Great place with lots of character - hostess very pleasant and welcoming - suggested roof top and it was lovely! Great food and great service - can’t wait to come back!
Too loud! The music sound was up too high, with that and everyone trying to talk over the music it was hard to have a dinner conversation.
My husband and I were celebrating the sale of our house in the suburbs. When we arrived the first thing I noticed was the loud music. Next I noticed how inappropriate the music was given the age of the clientele. I mentioned this observation to the seating host. He was polite but he didn’t do anything about it. The music really detracted from the overall dining experience.
The Octopus was excellent!
One of the best places to have unique Italian food in Chicago in my opinion. Came here for lunch on a Friday. The special cauliflower soup was delicious. My daughter and I split the burger -- very tasty and worth the money! Great place to have a conversation. Took 20 min to get our fruit tart dessert (sorry, forgot the name of the dish) from after placing my order. It was delicious but we didn't realize it would take so long to get our dessert order during a weekday lunch. Staff was very nice.
Rooftop patio is charming; food delicious, especially the special seasonal corn salad; and server was wonderfully attentive. Highly recommend for casual summer dining
Davanti is one of the best italian I've had in my life. I am a total foodie and was pleasantly surprised with this hidden gem in little italy. The food is absolutely incredible, extremely savory and the selections are vast. We dined this past Saturday night, and were a larger party. Despite its busy Saturday night vibes, the service was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond and was so knowledgeable and attentive. The food was coursed out perfectly, I don't remember the last time I had that much fun and honestly can't wait to come back!!!! This restaurant goes down as my favorite italian in Chicago. THANK YOU to Dea and her amazing staff for going above and beyond! You are all exceptional! 5 stars does not do this place justice!
Food was great and love small plates to sample a variety of items. Our server was personable and knowledgeable about the menu items. Slight hiccup when they brought out our main dishes separately and it took a little while for the desserts. Definitely will return
Outdoor deck small and hot
Food was great. We especially liked the polenta and ragu. They have a good wine list and the interior is nicely designed. The only complaint is the music they’re playing. It’s weird that a nice restaurant feels obligated to play pop tunes at such a loud volume. Our table and the one next to us asked them to lower the volume but they never did. At the end of the meal the manager told us they couldn’t turn it down because it was a part of their ambiance but I disagree. Carly Rae Jepsen is not integral to their success despite what they may believe.
Great and unique dishes, attentive service. The Davanti Burger was divided by the four of us as an appetizer, and it is fantastic ! Other dishes we loved: Veal Meatballs, beet salad, and the white sangria for drinks. Had a great experience!
I would describe this place as “Italian Gastropub”. Tried numerous appetizers which come out fast, then finished with the entree..Place was popping with a great vibe, but even my 22 year old son said that it would feel even more comfortable inside if there was Italian music instead of the piped in songs that really didn’t meld in with everything going on inside.. music a big contributor to overall feel, and theirs didn’t help. Other than that, we loved the place.
We stopped here for lunch at the recommendation of so many glowing reviews, and were not disappointed. We started with the fried artichokes and crispy Brussels sprouts, then moved on to the octopus and burger ( which won them a trophy at Baconfest with that excellent bacon jam. Wow!). My boyfriend and I always share everything, and both agreed that it all was outstanding The outdoor rooftop seating is not available during lunch, FYI. There is a nice table by the front window that gives you a great view of the street, however. Love this place!
Wonderful Chicago storefront restaurant. We went for Sunday brunch as well as previously for lunch. The menu is varied, with unique ingredients in each dish. It's not the typical "tomato sauce" Italian restaurant! The comfort of a neighborhood restaurant with superb service and unique, well-prepared food.
One of our favorite modern italian places in the heart of little Italy
First time dining here.
Reese was an exceptional staff member offering recommendations and ensuring we enjoyed the experience.
Absolutely loved it.
We’ll be back often!
This was the perfect date night spot! We enjoyed a bottle of wine and amazing food. Each plate is designed to share and was delicious. There was an upstairs patio which had a great ambiance. We plan on going back again soon! Only great things to say about the food, service, and experience.
Went to the roof top. It was great. No tv with sports to detract from conversation with my dining partner
Food and ambiance was excellent but the service was poor. Food was missing, food runners did not provide utensils with dessert, coffee didn’t come out on time, had to ask staff for the waiter to come by, manager never came around to ask about our experience, staff did not say goodbye when we left, etc.
Delicious food in a warm, inviting space. Feel like you are family. Service was fast and my son and I were in and out within 40 minutes.
Food and service went beyond our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
ALWAYS a great meal and service!
Great food and outdoor space. Half price wine on Wednesday was a fun perk!!
Very nice meal, better than I thought/expanded.
Great food and excellent family style presentation
Great food as usual. Love that sharing plates let's you taste so many things.
Too loud, need to yell across table
Always love Davanti Enoteca! Great food, great service and a great time! I'm pregnant and they even gave me a free bib for the baby on this last visit :) So thoughtful!
Hi, there were a couple babies in the restaurant. It did not bother me one bit, I love babies and enjoyed looking and hearing them play. The food and service was awesome! It was my first time and will come again and again.
Davanti's is a very nice place to spend an evening. I do have to say I felt the service went down a bit since my previous visits. Everyone seemed very rushed and confused on a sunday night with not very many people eating. However everyone was very polite. I would not recommend the burger however. They do have very reasonably priced bottles of wine. Overall a nice experience but not what I have experienced food or service in years prior.
