Davanti is actually a bit of chain restaurant, but we don't hold that against them.
My husband, mother, and I were in town for a wedding. Came here for dinner and was delighted by the ambiance and variety of beverage and food. Everything was delicious, but the bill did add up at the end.
First time there. Loved it!
As always a wonderful meal!!
I was disappointed with the portion size and I felt that the food lacked favor.
WOW! I never leave reviews, but can't pass up this opportunity to highly recommend this restaurant. The decor, staff and menu was amazing! So fresh and original. I'll be back.
I really have to say that I very much enjoyed my visit here. The service was just outstanding, and the food was just delicious. We were there celebrating and I loved how our server made our night so special and one to remember. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant - it was cute and romantic and had a rustic feeling. I will definitely be back!! I highly recommend it!
Excellent Davanti burger and Vasi Di Ricotta! We came in because the burger was listed as one of Chicago's top 25 burgers. It did not disappoint! The cheese and bacon jam MADE the burger!
A marvelous meal! Everything was cooked to perfection! Because it is a small plates establishment, the food arrives in a somewhat unexpected order, so be prepared for that.
I was disappointed that the dinner menu is served all day on fridays. We went for paninis. I would pass on the cavafliori, not good. Restaurant was out of rapini and subbed spinach without asking, I’m allergic.
Davanti Enoteca provides a great value. The food and service are very good. The dining room is relatively small and noisy. Their pizza is great. I usually order the Davanti burger which is prepared deliciously! You cannot go wrong with any of the appetizers and entrees. Buon appetit.
Rough service. We were told our ticket for our third item was lost after being there for 1.5hrs. Hardly saw our server. They were past capacity for their staff and kitchen.
Great food and a great time!
The food wasn't anything special. It was a bummer. The meatballs were way too spicy, and dry. The focaccia was the best part.
Terrible service. Appetizer took to long and one of our entrees came out 20 minutes after the rest. The waiter was a nice young man but totally clueless. The manager comped one meal and desserts which was nice.
Brunch MeetUp for BookClub after reading something set in Naples. Beautiful ambience; Noise level was good, despite wood floors. Bloody Mary bar delicious and wait staff was so patient. Always a win.
Tasty, reasonably priced Italian, with a few unexpected menu items. We will be back!
Awesome as usual. Ordered 4 of our favorite dishes and 2 new dishes. Now we have even more favorites! Sad to hear that the downtown location closed. It was our go-to place after an afternoon Cubs game. Guess I'll be spending more time on Taylor Street!! 😊
We had a great meal. We will definitely go back!!
Great food
Great place, but REALLY NOISY!! The place really needs some sound deadening materials.
Love Ronnie
15th Wedding Anniversary. We ordered a filet and a pizza at the same time after our appetizer... food is pretty much always good at Davanti... any Davanti. I was saving my wine while waiting for my filet. Pizza came but no filet.... my wife was halfway through her pizza before the waitress came around again. She went to check on the filet. She came back and said the filet (a special that evening BTW) was sent to the wrong table. I still don't believe her. She had the gall to ask if I wanted something else that could be prepared quickly....really?..... She did not even offer to comp the wine...much less the meal. The floor manager never came and apologized. My wife said he was cowering in a corner behind me. I ate my wife's leftovers (she offered), slammed the wine , left cash, and departed for brighter skies!
We've enjoyed this restaurant at it's other location many times but this visit to Davanti-Chicago was a bit disappointing. The server set the expectation about how the small plates are prepared in the kitchen and how the food will come out when ready, "maybe not all at the same time" and we were prepared for that but 45+ minutes between our starters and the two main courses was a bit much. We had to ask the manager to check on our order because our server disappeared for that entire span. The food was amazing, as usual, but the portions were barely big enough for 4 people to get a small bite. I would not recommend this location based on our experience.
My husband and I had our first Valentines Day dinner her 10 years ago, and have come back for the occasion every year since! Excellent spot for a relaxed, delicious shared meal with a bottle of wine.
I used to like this restaurant. But this time, my friend's dinner was the size of a small appetizer, my food was bland, and waitress spent more time with the bartender and we had to ask the bus boy, twice, to get her. The music was loud and more appropriate for a night club. NEVER going again.
My favorite Italian in the city. Always great service. The honeycomb ricotta is
This was a special occasion with our daughter and her boyfriend. Food, service, ambiance was all as expected. Wonderful evening!
Love the decor! Some of the tables are a little close together but it wasn't too uncomfortable. Their Cacio e Pepe is TO DIE FOR! Prosciutto Arugula pizza was incredible as well. Desserts looked amazing but we were too full. Wonderful service.
My wife and I went to Davanti Enoteca for dinner on Valentine's Day. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with our appetizer, dinner, and dessert. Our server gave a wonderful recommendation concerning my dinner choice and was attentive without being intrusive. The staff was also responsive in regards to taking plates away and refilling water.
Other than the dessert being a bit overpriced for the portion (lava cake with gelato), the food was wonderful. We would not hesitate going back as we have been to Davanti Enoteca several times before and have never been disappointed.
Everything was great but the pizza with truffle oil is awesome!!!
Ron is the best - always so friendly and always great recommendations on food and drink. Never a disappointment!
I was really looking forward to this meal because everybody ranted and raved about it. The food was amazing but the service was really lacking and it was unfortunate. We don't drink alcohol, but no one even asked us if we wanted a drink at all. This was a Tuesday night so you think that it would have relatively been slow.
Great place to eat, staff is fantastic, atmosphere is perfect
Great food but service was a little slow tonight.
Fantastic Food! Great atmosphere, great service. Unique dishes. Get the Polenta and Ragu of the day.
There is just something about the ambiance, food and service that blend perfectly at Davanti Enoteca on Taylor Street. I love the brick and wine bottles surrounding the dining room. It gives a very cozy feel without feeling crowded. We were with friends and were able to carry on a conversation without shouting, or overhearing anyone else. And everything we tried was delicious!
Excellent food, wonderful ambiance, helpful staff, great value
It's always a pleasure introducing friends to Davanti Enoteca. We brought a new friend there the other night. We always insist on ordering the Polenta and Ragu of the day and it never disappoints. The other night we had a half order. The ragu was sausage which was perfect for a cold winter night. Some time ago we brought two of my husband's younger colleagues and their families. We had a large order of the polenta and had to order a second large order; they inhaled it. The other night we were interested in a lighter meal. My husband suggested the Scarole Salad (scarole, gala apple, pecorino pepato, celery , and hazelnuts). We've always been delighted with the salads; do order one. Our friend suggested the Agnolotti (butternut squash, toasted hazelnuts, sage, and brown butter). She also suggested the Bruschette of the Day. Both dishes were new to us and we really enjoyed them. The staff is knowledgeable and warm. A quiet table is a necessity and the staff always accomdates our request. The wine list is fun to explore. Take friends to Davanti Enoteca! Our friend contributed $30 to the total bill which we thought was too much but she insisted since we were driving her home. A shared meal won't break the budget.
I had high Expectations on the food for its excellent reviews, However after dinning at the restaurant , I find the food no different than you will find at your local Pizza Place, as it might be even better than this restaurant . Service was good, Food below average
Very high noise level. Would stay away from weekend dining
