What Insiders Are Saying
Davanti is actually a bit of chain restaurant, but we don't hold that against them.
Wonderful experience, service is great as usual! Food is very good !
Celebrating an engagement and the manager brought over a bottle of champagne to start dinner which was amazing and so thoughtful!! Food was amazing as well
Lunch date with my best friend for her birthday!! Love the food and the wine. My best friend loves Carmel and was surprised with the blonde brownie it was amazing I wish I could take credit for it all!! Thank you!!
Experience was very good ! Helpful and friendly staff combined with good atmosphere makes for a nice experience!
My family and I had a wonderful dinner, I would highly recommend
Haven't been here in a long time and had been eating at another location in Chicago, now closed. This place was outstanding! Had the Ragu of the day, hot and most delicious along with the special brushetta, fava beans with fontina and Gorgonzola cheese and micro greens. So incredibly tasty, entree was a beautiful ribeye steak with potatoes fried with duck fast. Sublime! Fantastic server, Reese, personable and helpful in a selection of wine when they were out of prosecco. Definitely will be back again, thanks Davanti!! Great dinner.
Great appetizers! Check out 1/2 price bottle night.
One of my favorite places in the city. Always a great meal. Amazing Ragu, marinated olives, pizzas, wine listing and cocktails. Never a bad time!
We go to Davanti Enoteca every year on New Year’s Eve for an early dinner. The focaccia bread appetizer with honey is awesome. The ragu is always a favorite too. You have to order the blondie for dessert! Always a great meal!
They decided to close early and wouldn’t seat us
We had a wonderful dinner at Davanti on a Thursday night. We are visiting the city for the first time and found this restaurant by online reviews. The ambience of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. Certainly suitable for families earlier in the evening and a date night later on. The wine list was quite good. We had a goat cheese and toast spread - this was delicious !!! We did order the kids ravioli and they loved it ! The tomato sauce was hot, fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. My wife had the pacherri with sausage and I ordered the orecchiette with sausage. The pasta was made on site to perfection, and is made al dente which is just the way I like it. Overall, a great dinner experience.
Davanti Enoteca is the perfect spot for a pre-Blackhawks rendezvous. The bar area offers $5 plates that are perfect for a double date. We ordered off the menu, which seemed to take a little longer to prepare, but worth the wait. I'm a fan. Coming back again.
I have been here twice now and have been incredibly pleased each time. The wait staff always has the best wine recommendations based on what we plan to order. And regardless of when we order our dishes, our food always comes out perfectly spaced apart so that we are not crowded with dishes nor waiting too long between.
The environment is cosy but lively, the perfect place to go for a date or a larger gathering.
Good service and food. Highly recommend.
We celebrate with our friends and family here every xmas eve and have been doing so for the past 10 years.
It's always a good time and the food is delicious.
As always, food is outstanding and brings us back!
Sadly, last 2 visits service has been challenged.
We’ve been to another Davanti. We preferred the food at this location (Taylor st). The only thing I don’t like at any of the Enotecas is that the tables for two are too small. You have to keep “cleaning the table of dishes” in order to have any room.
I want to like this place. I don’t fault the kitchen or the staff in general. I think we had a strange miscommunication. It could have perhaps started with our decision to take a bar high top, but the
We took a colleague here and it was a lovely lunch!
The waiter was so friendly and very nice definitely can tell he has tried the menu he talked about the food with great detail!! Had great recommendations!
Reece was the best server ! And the food was great!
I come here a couple times a year and it never disappoints. My husband and I share a couple of appetizers and an entree or pizza. Everything is always delicious! Absolutely obsessed with the ricotta and honey toast. So. Good. Fabulous wine selection.
We like our true Italian style pizzas to have a thin, crispy crust and they really did at Davanti. We had the shaved Brussels Sprouts salad to start and it was excellent as well. We will go back!
Great place to meet a friend for dinner. We shared a couple of appetizers (Ricotta and honey; beets) and the truffle pizza. The wine glass pours were available in multiple sizes which was nice (including 5 ounce, 8 ounce). We didn't have dessert. Would return here for a casual dinner in the neighborhood.
Met a friend for lunch during the week. Was seated promptly and served water right away. All of the service was timely and friendly. The food was great, especially the focaccia with honeycomb. I didn't have any wine but they had some great Italian options...as expected.
Food was lovely. Martinis were mediocre.
Fun place with interesting food choices & super helpful waitress
The food was delicious! Reese, our server was excellent! He was able to explain to us all of the ingredients for each dish. He was attentive without hovering. He made us all feel well cared for; we will be back soon.
This restaurant never disappoints! Fantastic lunch.
We love this place & have been there many times. Sorry they don’t have the bolognese anymore though. Also, polenta with ragu wasn’t as good as usual. Meat was kind of dry & could have been more flavorful. But, overall, our favorite Italian restaurant in the city.
Always a pleasure. The Cacio & Pepe is phenomenal! Definitely in my top 3 favorite restaurants.
We had a fantastic dinner, celebrating my wife's birthday. Every bite of our meals were delicious, the service was outstanding, and we loved the atmosphere. We can't wait to return on a future trip to Chicago!
Food as good. Service not so good. Waitress was short in answering questions about the menu and the never came back after our food was served.
Great menu with many tasty options. The small plate style allows ease of sharing, and the portions are large enough to fill hungry bellies.
Davanti is one of our “go to” places for Italian comfort food! I like to take guests from out of town here to show off the great Italian food available in Chicago. It’s traditional Italian at heart but with a modern twist and finesse. The service was great despite it being a busy Friday night with a private party going on in front and tons of people at the bar. The drinks and wine were fabulous. The focaccia stuffed with farmers cheese and served with honeycomb was fantastic as always. Meatballs were perfect with a bright marinara sauce and soft bread to sop up the last bits of sauce in the bowl. The polenta with pork shoulder ragu was also delicious and savory. Pasta dishes were wonderful with the exception of the risotto which was a bit under cooked. We were stuffed by the end of our meal with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. And the best part was how affordable it all was!
Food and service was very good. Way too noisy.
Love it from the drinks to the food to the desert. Everything great. Service is very good and prices are reasonable.
Every time I have lunch or dinner it has been terrific. The wait staff is winderful and the food yummy.
Great food, great service, pretty loud but we didn’t mind.
We had a great meal everything was very good
Service was a little slow but the restaurant was very busy
