Davanti Enoteca - Little Italy

Focaccia bread with cheese and honey ALWAYS a crowd pleaser and was awesome. Staff and service, great! Main courses I have now been disappointed with twice in a row - not the flavors one would expect.
Great date spot. Half of wine bottles on Tuesdays!
I have always been pleased with the staff and food here. My favorite Italian themed restaurant in Little Italy. I brought 4 of my customers to dinner there this week and they were very impressed. Food comes out hot, perfect portions and the presentation always nice.
Thanks for making their evening memorable.
Most everything was great - food and service - except for your wine prices. We were suprised that you did not offer a moderate priced wine, starting prices at $60 a bottle is a little steep. We did bring our own wine and decided to open our wine. Your corkage charge of $25 is twice what more restaurants charge. Again we felt that was a little high. Unfortunately, because of the high wine prices, I do not know whether we will be back.
Thanksgiving at Davanti Enoteca was, in a word, superb. I have a "mixed" family - half are vegetarian and half are not. Therefore, the fact that Davanti Enoteca offered both its regular Italian menu and an option for a full, traditional Thanksgiving dinner was what drew me to this restaurant. What will bring me back was the excellence of the food, service, and ambience. I expected the turkey and sides to be rather mediocre and half-hearted, but those who ate it were more than satisfied. The Italian dishes were delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. The service was just right - friendly and professional. We will definitely return to Davanti Enoteca next Thanksgiving, as well as any time we want a lovely Italian dining experience.
I've never had a bad meal at Davanti Enoteca. I tend to get in a rut of ordering the same thing at restaurants, but when I come here, and I order something new each time. I'm never disappointed! Great food, atmosphere, and excellent service.
Never disappointed at Davanti Enoteca. the Focaccia is simply the best to be found anywhere!
Appetizers were delicious. Their foccacia with honey was amazing! Not the biggest selection of pasta dishes so that was the only con for me.
I have been to Davanti Enoteca several times, but this time took out of town guests. They were delighted to have such authentic and delicious food. Everything was easy thanks to our server, and we had a wonderful, leisurely meal that everybody thoroughly enjoyed. Service is timely but not intrusive. This has been consistent at every visit I've had there. Highly recommended.
Incredible food and great service!!
Service was a little slow, but it seemed they were a short staffed
Great atmosphere, ambience, pretty decor and unique menu w delicious options. The cow’s milk cheese honeycomb flat bread and the truffle eggs w brioche and asparagus were awesome starters. The spaghetti and stuffed rigatoni were great. They had a yummy Zinfandel and free dessert for my birthday.
Great experience! Food was yummy! Loved the back patio! Sit there if u can.
The only downfall is the Bathrooms were not very clean!
If you know what to order this is a Little Italy gem. However, if you're vegetarian, look elsewhere.
In the past, we've ordered and LOVED the pork shoulder ragu, as well as charcuterie boards and warmed olives. These are the items that brought us back. This time, though, we brought along a vegetarian friend. The Hen in the Woods mushroom was amazing, but the cheese pizza left much to be desired (We ordered these as there were not many items to choose from). We had a three cheese stuffed crust appetizer which was tasty, but not as pleasing as the charcuterie boards, and was so sweet with the provided honey it could have been dessert.
The service is typically fun and friendly - this time no exception. We will continue to eat here, just not with our vegetarian family and friends...
They’re always great! It’s the consistency that makes them a continued priceless experience.
Pasta was not as amazing. The bread is awesome. They close way too early on a Friday when all surrounding restaurants are open and hopping. Felt rushed to leave.
Bradley is the BEST! He is the most amazing waiter ever. He gave the best recommendations and the food, service and space was PERFECT! Go see Bradley at Davanti Enoteca.
I always enjoy Davanti Enoteca. The food is always consistent and the staff is always pleasant.
I am a new resident of Little Italy and I love this place. I have had happy hour with friends, date night, and a family dinner! It has been perfect for every occasion and the food is outstanding! Can't wait to come back!
We went with all of the suggestions from the server. These included the flatbread, the meat pizza and the ragu and polenta. All were great. The Nebbiolo by the glass was good as well
Couple of comments:
Tell the restaurant If it’s a special occasion as they do not read open tables.
If you order food ask the server to get food at the same time. The lasagna one of my party ordered took 30 minutes longer than the rest of the food. Everyone was done with their food by the time they got it.
Assistant staff asked if we wanted more bread for an appetizer we ordered. We said yes, and they never returned.
Ambiance was great and so is little Italy, but it was busy and we did not feel we got much attention from the staff.
Food overall was okay, but not great enough for me to return.
Maybe try going during a slower time where they can be better attentive and get food out at a similar time.
Overall, the restaurant is fine, and food was acceptable. But nothing to write home about.
Birthday dinner. Everything very good
Delicious forcaccio. You have to try it! The cheese and honey make it so delicious. Great entrees - we had the Branzino, some pasta dishes and the pizza. All were very good.
Food was amazing
Everything was great, but the hostesses were not efficient. I made a reservation for 7:15 and called around 7:05 to inform them that my party was running 15 minutes late. The hostess thanked me and assured that they would hold the table. When we arrived at 7:30 we were asked to wait for our table to be cleared. We ended up waiting 20 minutes while other walk in parties were seated right away.
Noisy background but great service and food. Enjoyed the diversity in the menu choices.
potatoes in octopus dish were way under-cooked - almost raw. octopus was very good thought. Rom is very loud. Hip decor not really "Italian.
Had an excellent experience. Focaccia and polenta are a must!! Dustin, our server, was AMAZING!!!! We will he going back for sure.
Made a reservation for outside and got sat in the noisy bar
The food was delicious and the service outstanding
Delightful dinner. Interesting diverse menu. Scott our server was top notch. Knowledgeable. Humorous. Attentive. Mushrooms were unusual and tasty. Meatballs hit the mark. Will be back.
This was a fantastic place!! The food and atmosphere are not to be missed if you are in San Diego. The staff was attentive and helpful with selections. Highly recommended to me by colleagues and it did not disappoint !
Best restaurant in Little Italy
Food was delicious. Service was great. Out waiter, wish I could remember his name, was very attentive. The Bloody Mary and Bubble Bar were a great touch.
Took some friends for dinner. We sat out on the back patio which has a nice vibe. The food was very good although the pasta portions are pretty small. Should have probably order a salad or appetizer to start with. Would god back!
Table outside and watched the people go by. Beautiful! Service was quick and efficient, the food delicious. The foccacia bread with cheese is a must!
I chose Davanti Enoteca because it’s one of my favorite restaurants in SD, but I was disappointed this time. First, it was a special occasion... I only get to see my boyfriend once every few months as he lives on the east coast, so I requested the most “romantic” table on the patio. When we got there, the hostess was clueless, asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, and walked us back to the patio and just told us to choose any open table. All of the more private tables were taken, and the remaining corner table hadn’t been wiped off yet. The restaurant was t that busy yet on a Tuesday night at 7:00, so it was obvious the hostess hadn’t read or prepared for special requests. And, the other thing was... the menu had gone through changes with a new chef, and they had taken off the most delicious, decadent and iconic thing on the menu... the ricotta/egg ravioli. Don’t think I’ll go back.
Back patio is really nice and spacious. Super cute environment. Food and drinks are delicious!
