Davanti Enoteca - Little Italy
After opening the first location in 2010 in Chicago’s Little Italy neighborhood, Davanti Enoteca has expanded with restaurants in Del Mar, San Diego; Little Italy, San Diego; Western Springs, Illinois; and now the newest addition the Courtyard Marriot River North in Chicago. Davanti Enoteca, an Italian wine bar, offers share-able plates of rustic Italian cuisine from pastas, pizzas, and entrees in addition to small plate items such as vasi (mini mason jars with Tuscan toast), antipasti, salads and table-side presentations. Exposed brick and refurbished wood create the ambiance of a countryside cottage in Italy.

This was the 3rd time in a row that we've been so disappointed with this place. We decided that moving forward, we will only go for drinks and the focaccia appetizer. The rest of the food and service has been terrible. The staff forget about us and don't check in very often. They bring out one meal and then either forget about the next meal, or bring it out WAY later. The food has also not been very good. Again, this has been the experience for the last several times that we've gone over the last several months. I'd only recommend drinks and focaccia here and that's it.
Edwin did an incredible job. I would come back here all the time if I lived in San Diego
Beautiful service!!! Delicious food!!!
Patio was great. Food tasty. Server was excellent
Been eating at locations In Del Mar and Little Italy for years. Consistently very good. Big fan which is why I keep coming back. Favorite is the Sol Misto Chicken dish. Great appetizers. Little noisy, fun atmosphere.
Really good bread, cheese plate, bolognese, pizza and ravioli.
Great food and service!
They put pecans on a bruschetta with no note on the menu regarding nuts. So please let them know you have an allergy as not all ingredients are listed. Unfortunately I had no idea as I’ve never seen nuts on a bruschetta and luckily I realized before it was to late. The manager though made up for this matter and was very kind.
poor service, bad quality food. food was brought to the table with no cutlery. Pasta was bland and no offerings of cheese or crushed pepper.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. Excellent food and service. Appears to be a community gem.
Food and service were great as usual, but the patio in the evening is not “cozy.” It is downright frigid and the food gets cold too fast. I appreciate this establishment is good for groups, but it seems to be at the suffering of a table for two.
Excellent service and the food is amazing! You must try the Polenta and Raghu...
We were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation time on a busy Friday night. The service was friendly and quick, and the food was delicious! Great spot :)
Staff were great, food excellent and good value house wine.
Had to wait 15 minutes for a table even with an open table reservation. Waited for another 10 for the waitress to show up. Caesar salad was ok and the best part of the meal. Calamari was a bit off and gritty and bolognese was watery and tasteless. I make a much better bolognese and I can back that up. There is a really good ice cream across the street called Salt and straw. Maybe you should just go there for dessert and forget about the Italian place across the street, I sure am.
Davanti is always amazing. The food, the beverages, the service...impeccable!
Loved it!! Scott was a great waiter! Very attentive staff!!
After so many recommendations to try the FOCACCIA DI RECCO, we did on our recent first visit to Davanti Enoteca... and we weren't disappointed! It was delicious. Our group of five was wondering if we should go ahead and order another instead of diving in on other menu items. However, we were also especially pleased with our other top choices to share: CACIO E PEPE, ORECCHIETTE ALLE VERDURE, and the DELLA TERRA PIZZE. Thanks for a delicious night out - we'll be back for more!
Food was ok but service was horrible. The waiter almost seemed annoyed to be serving us. Disappointing!
I ordered the ravioli special and they only brought me 2 raviolis. Other than that, everything was fantastic! Order the Cacio e Pepe
One of our favorites!
It is my second time, the first was AMAZING! Then it bombed on second time around. If you say you have fresh pasta it better taste incredible, they bombed bad.
It made Chef Boyardee look good.
The Ceasar salad tasted warm and flavorless.
It was not worth what I spent!
We asked to sit inside so we weren't dealing with the unusually cold weather weather, so they brought us to a table inside, but in front of the open door where my wife was still cold. We sat next to a large party who evidently figured it wasn't a problem to let their infant's dirty diaper sit while they ate their meal even though it was only 2 feet from our table. The food was average at best. We had strange items in our wine glass, too little honey for their appetizer that comes with honey, and the food was about the same as an Olive Garden. Disappointing
Delicious as always! I went for a few shared plates and wine with two girlfriends. We had a delightful server and enjoyed the Farro and Squash (highly recommend!!!), the Fig and Goat Cheese Vasi (also delish...), and the Cauliflower Steak. It was the perfect spot for a good girl catch up - fun vibe but not too crazy.
Definitely go here, this place is something special. the food was absolutely amazing. My mom had some random questions about Italian restaurants and the owner took the time to answer them. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the interior design was very cool. You feel like part of the family when you’re here, overall I would recommend davanti to anyone. The Brussel sprouts were off the charts and the flat iron steak is to die for. Definitely will eat here again.
Get the Focaccia!
Great food and craft drinks and located in San Diego’s Little Italy. Can’t ask for much more!
We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday and wanted to go to Little Italy. I'll be honest, our Plan A restaurant was booked solid so we decided to try Davanti Enoteca and we are glad we did! We were seated on the heated patio, which was very romantic. Our waiter, Scott, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. And the food was to die for -- the bolognese sauce was perfect, and her salmon was expertly prepared. The night ended with a pair of cannolis that were just right. All in all -- 5 stars -- we will be back!
Terrible! Seated then forgotten about. Waited 20 minutes for a server, then waiting another 15 minutes for our drinks to be delivered to our table.
Food was average. Portion sizes we depended on what was ordered. Taste of all was bland. Certainly have had better.
World not recommend ... and we will not be back!
It was our first time to dine here. We were pleased with the service and quality of the food. There was an NFL playoff game on in the bar, so no doubt that added to the slightly elevated noise level. The happy hour specials are quite good and recommend the bottle of wine and cheese board.
Our waitress with the Russian accent was amazing! She was very friendly and tentative.
The food was amazing! I highly recommend this for a date night or a fun night with the girls!
I have never written a review in my life. This dinner was horrible! It was truly inedible and such a let down when there are great restaurants all over Little Italy. It was the first time I have ever felt compelled to not pay for our food. We paid, but I will never go back. Go to any of the other great restaurants in the area but skip this place for sure!! The food was luke warm, flavorless, and unappetizing.
The restaurant was closed. We did not know until we got to the door and saw the sign. We had to find another restaurant on our honeymoon despite making reservations. It was frustrating and we planned our evening around this and had no prior notice.
The restaurant was closed “ until further notice” :(
We had a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
I am a Disabled Veteran and they treated me as if I was a returning Medal of Honor recipient. I have never received such special treatment ever before. I live a couple of thousand miles away, but I would make a special trip back just to visit Divanti's again. OK, don't expect the very special treatment I received but do have dinner here, you will not be disappointed.
We went for dinner and brunch, food was very good and service excellent
I made reservation throug their web site. It was easy to do it.
Table was ready at arrival.
Definitely will come back again.
