Davani's Ratings and Reviews
We will never go on a Friday night again. We had to wait way too long for service for every course. I also tried to get our server's eye to ask for more bread to go with our soup. Never could. She had her hands full with a large party right next to us, so didn't blame her. It was just bad luck for us. And sitting in the glassed -in area is colder than the rest of the restaurant. Will know not to sit in there again.
At first we were seated in the group room in a corner table however it was a large group of 12 to 20 people in the room being served by another waiter. We felt like this was not the right place for us as it was a noisy group. We asked to be moved to a booth, which they did. And then had a delightful evening. After tasting my wife’s ravioli, I wish that I had ordered Italian rather than the tuna.
Davani's is a hidden gem, located in a small strip mall near downtown Greenville. The atmosphere is lovely, with low lighting, linen tablecloths and attentive service. The food tends toward old favorites done very well, with nice presentation and appropriate serving sizes. It was the perfect place to enjoy a good meal and reconnect with friends.
Food and service was excellent. The veal shank was a generous portion cooked perfect. Pasta al dented as it should be. They don’t over charge for the wines. Double is normal and the wine we had ( Barolo ) wasn’t even double. Some restaurants like the ones you know downtown over charge but not here. You won’t leave hungry and you will be very satisfied.
The management and staff are attentive but not overpowering. They are there for what you need expeditiously. My requests were fulfilled and I felt the warmth from the entire staff. In my opinion, they know without exceptional service and succulent cuisine, they would be just another place to eat. I was not there “just to eat”, I was there to dine in a pleasant atmosphere and that was indeed accomplished.
My wife and I decided to try Davani’s for our date night dining and we definitely made a great choice. We had the Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Picatta and we thoroughly enjoyed the authentic taste and preparation. The service was also impeccable. We would highly recommend Davani’s to our friends and family.
A neighborhood gem! Don't let the fact that Davani's is in a strip mall dissuade you from trying it. The food was excellent--the best we've had in a long time! My husband and I dined on a Monday night for my birthday so the restaurant wasn't crowded. Our waitress, Melissa, was very attentive to my special dietary needs and even had the owner, Rocky, suggest a wine that was excellent and a perfect pairing to our dinners. Each of our meals was enough to feed 2 people. They even brought out a complementary cannoli with a candle in it for my birthday. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. We will definitely return!!!
Entree was ravioli with red sauce. After about three minutes into being served oil started separating out of the sauce. It was bad.
We had five people on our party. The server put 20% gratuity on the bill and did not mention it. I don't believe five people warrants dictating the tip. Poor form. We will not be going back. We actually live in the restaurant's neighborhood.
Very good food. We were the first diners of the evening, so it was hard to judge the noise level. The bread and oil/balsamic was excellent, we had calamari for an appetizer. Nice breading, came with two sauces. The remoulade was quite good, the spicy/chunkier tomato dip could have been a little juicier and a bit more spice. I had cannelloni that was quite good, but it seemed that the tomato sauce had a little bit of overcooked taste to it. My wife had penne ala vodka with sausage that she liked very much. We had chocolate pie with whipped cream for dessert that was very tasty.
The people were great but the food was not. Three of us had Veal Oscar and there was no crab meat to be found. The veal had to be salted to add taste which you should never have to do with this dish. All three of us had the same food review that ordered that dish.
Excellent meal! The grilled Brie appetizer was an excellent start to our meal. The Veal Piccata was scrumptious served with creamy Risotto and mixed vegetables. My husband's crab cakes, also served with Risotto and mixed vegetables were cooked to perfection and he thoroughly enjoyed them. We had to limit how much of the appetizer and entrees we ate to save room for the bread pudding, which was give to us complimentary due to the long wait for our food. But it did not disappoint, it was the reason my husband wanted to dine at Davani's.
