Davani's Ratings and Reviews
Very good food. We were the first diners of the evening, so it was hard to judge the noise level. The bread and oil/balsamic was excellent, we had calamari for an appetizer. Nice breading, came with two sauces. The remoulade was quite good, the spicy/chunkier tomato dip could have been a little juicier and a bit more spice. I had cannelloni that was quite good, but it seemed that the tomato sauce had a little bit of overcooked taste to it. My wife had penne ala vodka with sausage that she liked very much. We had chocolate pie with whipped cream for dessert that was very tasty.
The people were great but the food was not. Three of us had Veal Oscar and there was no crab meat to be found. The veal had to be salted to add taste which you should never have to do with this dish. All three of us had the same food review that ordered that dish.
Excellent meal! The grilled Brie appetizer was an excellent start to our meal. The Veal Piccata was scrumptious served with creamy Risotto and mixed vegetables. My husband's crab cakes, also served with Risotto and mixed vegetables were cooked to perfection and he thoroughly enjoyed them. We had to limit how much of the appetizer and entrees we ate to save room for the bread pudding, which was give to us complimentary due to the long wait for our food. But it did not disappoint, it was the reason my husband wanted to dine at Davani's.
We went to this restaurant because of good reviews. We had a reservation and we were seated. Waitress was very busy with other table. It took awhile to get our wine and then we waited for waitress to explain menu. It was 45 minutes and no bread or anything was offered. After questioning different waiter, the owner came asked us what we wanted. We explained we were very hungry and we'd like bread. Our food came 25 minutes later. We both had the specials. My dish was overcooked. I ate only part of meal and just wanted to get out. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
First time at Davani's left me pleased but underwhelmed. I will absolutely return as this is a local fave and I feel confident I visited on an "off-night". Bruschetta lacked the flavor I've come to expect a quality Italian restaurant to serve. Ravioli app was tasty and well-done. Calamari was very average. My entree of corvina and polenta cake with vegetables was good but also lacked flavor. House cab was good. Again, I've heard only great things about Davani's and look forward to dining with again soon! Shout out to our server who apparently was one of three total on the floor, covering many tables after another server called out unexpectedly.
Service was attentive, seating was comfortable, ambience was very low key
(dim or romantic lighting :) The blue cheese Wedge salad was exceptional.
My husband ordered the Fish of the Day Entree served with polenta and grilled veggies...delicious. I ordered the Penne alla Vodka which was a perfectly authentic, rustic
Italian pasta dish. We would definitely order any of these items again.
Our favorite restaurant. Very large pasta and continental choices. My wife always has trouble choosing between three of her favorites. I get traditional linguini and clams but occasionally switch out to penne a la vodka. Wedge is to die for. Excellent adult beverages and wine selection. Staff and owners are as good as it gets. Go
We went to Davani's for a birthday celebration with another couple and we were instantly congratulated on the birthday when we arrived. Michelle was our server and she was outstanding. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and was great at explaining selections and recommending selections. The FraDiablo, the Penne Vodka, and the Veal Marsala were all excellent. And since it was a celebration, we definitely had to try the Creme Brulee, which were also very good. We will definitely be back .
We were in Greenville for only one night and chose Davani's from Open Table. We had a wonderful experience. Michelle(?) who has been there 8 years was exceptional...as was the food and the ambience. The Osso Buco was delicious. You should go there if your get a chance.
This is the best Italian Cuisine in the Upstate of South Carolina. Baked Oysters Rockefeller were clean, tasty and prepared very well. Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato was flavorful and presented with a very nice sauce. Both the Scampi & Scallops Provencal and Catch of the Day: Fresh Gulf Corvina entrees were nicely done. And their award wining Chocolate Marquis is outstanding. The server was very attentive. Yet we were put off by the attitude of the owner, as we did not fell welcome. Despite this we enjoyed the meal immensely.
