Excellent food. Salmon selection was outstanding. Service was top notch.
First time at this location (we've been to Orange). Good food -- great and attentive service. I was surprised to find live music in the dining room on Saturday evening! The trio was quiet enough and played recognizable (old) songs! Lamb was a bit chewy, but the rice served with most entrees is GREAT! Our wonderful server made us feel as if we were her only table! We'll be back soon.
Dining at Darya is always a delightful food experience. The wait staff is friendly, welcoming and highly efficient.
The food is authentic Persian, flavorful and abundant.
I highly recommend Darya for lunch, dinner, and any special occasion.
The restaurant was fine. It seems like an old-fashioned, family gathering place. The food isn't great, but the restaurant is roomy and able to accommodate large parties without getting too noisy. We were visiting the area and hoped for cuisine that was a little more adventurous.
The food was excellent, and abundant. I did not order dessert. I always order dessert. I was happy and full. We will return.
We arrived at 7:00 for our reservation and we were told that we had 45 minutes to eat at our table. Then we would have to leave or sit outside (on a cold windy evening) to accident no date a private party. I made the reservation four weeks ahead of time. I ran next door to Antonello’s and they happily found a great table for the four of us. I look forward to dining at Antonello’s again. I will never eat at Darya again.
Other than the two dudes sitting in the middle and speaking so loudly everything else was great.
Great as usual . Good food good service
Darya is consistently outstanding in delivering delicious meals in a gracious way. What a pleasure!
Not recommended ...Food quality was one of worst I ever experienced at any Persian restaurant till date..:-(
When we first arrived to the restaurant the two hostess at the counter were not very friendly. They gave us a very unfriendly glare from head to toe. I was going to turn around and leave with my family, but I decided to stay. Going over this hump was worth it. The food was amazing and our waiter was a delight. I had the shrimp kabob with a side salad and rice. It was so delicious I know my taste buds were dancing. I'm looking forward to returning.
Great food and service! One of our most favorite restaurants.
Love to eat here when we are in the area. Great food.
We went for my husbands birthday...the food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the saxophone player was delightful ! Will definitely go back!! Great menu too!!
Great service and good food, wine list was also great. Live music was entertaining, next time i will ask to be seated outside to check it out, it looked romantic while i was walking in.
Valentines meal priced a little higher than usual.
Darya is the finest Persian Restaurant in California, bar none. We are always treated as honored guests. The food is great. Every dish is unique and well prepared and served. The wait staff is wonderful. They makes sure you are satisfied throughout the meal. They refill your beverages without having to ask.
We are frequent guests at Darya for all of the above and will continue. Glad they are on Open Table.
This was my first exposure to Iranian/Persian cuisine. Not quite Indian, a shade different from other Middle Eastern food. Décor splendid, wait staff very spiffy in tuxedos. Lots of choices, meats, seafoods, vegetarian, and everything we tried was quite yummy. My date especially liked the tea. Two comment: (1) I try to minimize my sodium intake, so to my taste buds the food, particularly the rice, was a little salty; (2) The plate portions are very large, two diners could very easily split one entrée plate plus a salad. The rule-of-thumb for ethnic restaurants is whether diners of that particular ethnicity patronize the restaurant. True, but one also saw Anglo, Asian, Hispanic diners as well.
Wonderful place .... as always , food delicious
It was our first time. The restaurant did not have a couple of ingredients to make a couple of drinks we wanted. I understand the lamb was quite delicious. I ordered the seafood platter. The fish and shrimps were great but the scallops were nearly tasteless. The ambiance and decor were lovely. I received a complimentary dessert for my birthday. I had 1 bite and that was enough for me. The rest of my party enjoyed the rest. The dessert was like eating hard and sticky sugar. We all agreed we would return.
In general, I would say everything was 8 out of 10.
Customer Service / Cleanliness / Ambiance / Food Quality
Live Music sound quality is not good. I'd say 3 out of 10
Very nice experience. Requested a quiet and private table for sensitive business discussions. We got just what we needed, in the back corner of the restaurant. Food was delicious and a very good value for the price. Lovely decor/ambience. Plenty of parking in South Coast Village. Server very pleasant and accommodating but did not seem to understand as much about the menu as I would have expected. This is a hidden gem.
Over 30 years going to this place from the old location to the new one never had a bad meal or bad server. Lately I lost faith in eating out . Going to Darya restored my faith . Consistent and good
My compliment to the management
Great place for authentic food clean delicious food
Excellent food, service, and overall wonderful experience!
We felt so well taken care of! Behnam answered all of our questions, had no trouble customizing our meal and even moved us to a larger table to better accommodate the amount of dishes we ordered (which were all delicious and beautifully presented.) Truly a memorable experience!
The food was delicious, from the appetizers, (roasted eggplant) and the entrees beef and chicken kababs., The sizes are very generous and large. The server was EXCELLENT. We were a high maintenance table, and he was very very accomodating with everything and every request. They were friendly and professional.
The food is always good and the prices are reasonable. The noise level is perfect for business discussions. I can take all my out of town clients because there is something on the menu everyone can enjoy.
Rarely do I visit the OC without going to Darya. Simply the best.
I hadn't been to Darya for some time. When I suggested it along with a few others for my friend's birthday treat, she enthusiastically chose Darya. We didn't even need a menu because we knew we'd be having lamb. It was perfect. Cooked exactly right. Marinated deliciously, not overwhelming the lovely taste of the lamb, but enhancing it. We sub Persian salad for half of the rice, and the contrast of the bright flavor of the salad complements the rich lamb exquisitely. And actually this doesn't have to be a special occasion place. Lunch prices are quite reasonable.
The Soltani is delicious, the filet was very tender and cooked perfectly. After dinner we always have the Persian tea. Excellent .
We live in Texas but Make a point to dine at Darya every time we come to Orange County. It never disappoints!
Great food and experience as always. I even tried a new dish and it was wonderful.
Food was great and so was the service. Live music was a nice addition. Definitely plan to go back.
Very fresh food. I have come to this place a few times food is great. Prices are not cheap but reasonable given the quality they serve.
We dine at Darya regularly. I usually point out particular dishes; however, at Darya, they are all great. The wait service is very good, although we have our favorites.
TakeMyAdvice, dine at Darya the next time you're looking for a great place for authentic Persian food.
The waiter was one of the best I have ever had. Really enjoyed the saxophonist. Beautiful decor.
We had an incident where someone fainted at our table. Granted we were in a corner and it was a busy night, but we called 911 and almost had an ambulence come out, it was quite a scene. No one in management came by our table to make sure everything was ok, our server didn't even acknowledge that anything happened. The food was ok, but service and management attention were terrible.
Food was good but noise level was too much. The music was a nice attempt but not very good. We've had similar lubia polo and chicken koobideh at other places that are comparable.
I have been eating at Darya for many years. The food and the service are not only excellent, they are CONSISTENTLY excellent. The restaurant is lovely inside, one of the gems in South Coast Village. The chicken and filet mignon kebabs with basmati rice are delicious! The ash reshteh is the perfect warming, wintertime soup. They have a great menu, and the servers are always friendly, professional and flawless.
