Had a great time. Staff was very helpful with suggestions.
Delicious! Really enjoyed the meal here. Would definitely go again.
Had our bffs 40th dinner at Darlington. We made reservations via OpenTable for 14 people, so they sat us in front of the bar. Totally fine because it made it feel like a private sitting area. The food was delicious- most of us got the specials. There was a guy there claiming to be one of the top 5 illusionists in the world and invited us to come see him at MGM and to his room. That was weird. He did a couple of interesting tricks, but it felt very much like a scam and our entire party was really confused. Other than that, we had a great time and appreciate the wonderful service from the restaurant!
Excellent Italian food at reasonable prices. Very good service and cool atmosphere
Food and service was great! But I was still hungry when I left so that's really my only complaint. I think the serving size could be a bit better considering the price.
Hosted our volleyball team and was very friendly and easy to work with. Thank you!
The lasagna was very good. The desserts were very good. The cocktails do not look very sophisticated.
We were there for Valentine's Day and the space was lovely. We were sat in front of the fireplace. The service was attentive but very rushed. We ordered salads and half way through eating them, our entrees were brought out. I can understand trying for quick turnover but our reservation was at 9:30, not the height of dinner service. The food was good, not great. I think the best part was the space. I would give it another shot.
Went for a Valentine’s Day dinner and when we went inside, some people ahead of us were complaining that their reservations were double booked. I’m glad we stayed, because it was only a 10-minute wait, the food was great as always, and we had an amazing time.
We were very disappointed in our two year anniversary dinner. We had a reservation at 8:15, and didn’t get seated until 9. We were starving and had to ask for bread. When we finally got it, it was cold and hard. My lasagna was great, my my gf’s steak was cold and blandly seasoned. Would not recommend this place.
Do not go on a busy night!
Once we got there:
They clearly over-booked the restaurant on Valentines day and people were crowding the front entrance. We showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation at 8:15 and were told that we should only have to wait 5-10 minutes. After about 30 minutes, I started to worry (I didn't have it as bad as others who waited over an hour and fifteen minutes).
Oh... and the two working the front desk were lovely people but they didn't know how long the wait was. It started getting awkward when they started openly crying about 35 minutes after I got there. The pressure REALLY got to them. That being said, I was at the bar and had NO idea what was said to them. I hope they are ok.
While waiting:
We moved to the bar to get a drink while we waited and to our surprise there was no bar tender. We couldn't even pay to get a drink while we waited to sit for dinner. Thankfully someone came back to the bar for 2 minutes, poured us a drink we didn't ask for, but the bar tender was too flustered to care so he let us have them.
Dinner:
We finally got to sit down! We were relieved but knew we had NO chance to get drinks on time so we ended up getting a bottle of wine. The wine seemed like it was a fair price. We asked a few questions and the server was really good at explaining things. But once we got the food....yeeesh.
My date's food came out on the cooler side which isn't a welcomed surprise with pasta. My lasagna was comically cheap. When they say made in house, they really mean it is made with Ragu or maybe Prego (tough to tell). The sauce tasted like the stuff I used to throw together in my shanty house when I was 23 living with 6 other people. It was a small portion, which is normal for a nice meal... this was not that.
I hope others who ate there after 7:30 on Valentines day can back me up so people who read this don't think I am exaggerating. This really was a terrible time and a waste of $130(ish).
Bon Appetit!
Had dinner on Valentine’s Day. From the love passion martini which was absolutely amazing to the fritto misto calamari which is the best calamari I have had in the city. The food was stunning. The ambience was exceptional. Absolutely recommend!
Darlington House is a little known gem for great Italian cuisine in Dupont Circle. My favorites are the branzino, the chicken piccata, but everything I've had there has been great -- well, maybe not the lamb ragout. Nice wine list. More quiet than most places; so you can have a conversation. Attentive staff.
We eat often at Darlington restaurant. The food is consistently good, each time we have been there. One always gets a greeting at the front door. It is like eating in Grandmama’s fancy dining room.
Excellent meal. Great date spot. Will go again and would recommend.
The food was INCREDIBLE. The pasta is homemade and absolutely delicious. The food could not have been any better. The service was a bit slow during the dinner rush, but other than that, it was a great experience.
Perfect spot to have “intimate” dinner for 10 family members getting together.
Good homemade pasta--but otherwise average fair and service in a dingy dimimg room.
Great $35 meal menu
The best atmosphere and food! Great for a date night or girls dinner. The service is incredible and the food is delicious!! Will be back again!
Fantastic, per usual!!
Food and service were both perfection as always!
I went here for winter restaurant week and it was a great surprise to find that they offered the full menu towards the restaurant week deal. The cons to my dinner experience was that it seemed as they were trying to quickly turn over tables (each course came out very fast, one after the other). It was also a disappointment on the portion sizes, after a 3 course meal we left hungry and needed to get another snack at a bar downstairs. We also observed that when a couple sitting next to us was given their check, they requested to order more drinks and were told by the waiter that they had to leave the table and go to the bar if they wanted more drinks which was a huge turnoff to overhear (again it felt rushed). Overall a very subpar experience and I don’t really feel excited enough about it to return in the future.
Service started the moment you walked to when they hold your coat while you put it on.
The food was exceptional! The wine list is also exceptional.
Terrific find in DuPont Circle. Terrific Italian food. One of the best Chicken Parmigiana’s I’ve ever had. Pasta bolognese was also fabulous.
Lovely restaurant . Very nice staff. Some little things they should work on to improve value . A little over priced
Waited at bar for all the guests with some first time visiting the area and restaurant. Wine was outstanding. Forgot the label but the selection was very good. Dinner started with salads and calamari. Outstanding. Special that night was swordfish and shockingly everyone wanted it. Perfectly prepared. Service was great.
Nice ambiance, friendly staff, good brunch and lunch options.
We arrived a few minutes late, but they managed to find us a table. We all had various daily specials: veal, salmon and seafood ravioli, all were delicious. When they did not have the wine we picked, they brought a better one at the same price, and refilled one extra glass. The restaurant was very busy and very loud.
Excellent wines were selected by bartender. While at bar waiting for friends. Dinner was seafood pasta, chicken dishes! Always great service! Food perfectly prepared
Always good. Always pleasant. Always yummy. Would return again and again!
This place was very, very good. It was not busy at all, so service was fast and there was almost no noise. Setting was cozy. Food was very good.
Always delicious to dine at Darlington House. Great and varied Italian dishes at reasonable prices. The wait staff is the friendliest around.
Restaurant was a little overwhelmed when we arrived. Our table was not ready. The hostess was super apologetic. We saw two seats at the bar, so chose to eat there rather than wait for a table. The restaurant has a good vibe. One big complaint, two older gentlemen came in and sat at the bar next to us. They had a Westie (dog) with them, which one of the men held in his lap the entire time, scratching the dog's belly. Not the most appetizing thing to eat next to. People are so crazy...
Delicious dinner of fresh caprese salad and the best lobster risotto. My wife had an arugula salad with shaved Parmesan and homemade fettuccini with a hearty mix of shellfish in a spicy marinara. She loved it too. Great bottle of Tuscan wine. Lively atmosphere with a mix of younger people and people in their 50s. Best to reserve a table ahead as there was a line at the door. After dinner, we went downstairs to Dive bar to listen to some live music. All around great evening! Highly recommend.
Service was excellent and the food was incredible!
Food & service excellent. We had a large group that was easily accommodated. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Atmosphere was comfortable and noise level low making for easy conversations.
it was a work dinner and so very fun! Food was delicious and service was great!!
I've been here a few times for business dinners. Great food, but really slow service.
LOVE LOVE 💘
Great atmosphere, food was phenomenal. Service was exceptional.
We then went downstairs for the open Mike night. Definitely worth our time and money!!
