Excellent as always. Nice people. Very good food.
We ordered the Branzina dish of open sea bass with a tomato sauce & fruits-de-mer (mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops) and it was fabulous. Served with mashed potatoes and brocolli rabi. Everything was excellent.
This was a great find. I had lunch here and after having had a great experience, came back to the Cantina in the lower level for a casual “multi-appetizer” dinner with a colleagues. I had the Branzino special for lunch along with a mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer. Awesome. For dinner we tried two different pizzas, Spicy wings and the Italian nachos. Everything, combined with a nice cold Stella, was fantastic. I will definitely return whenever I’m in DC.
The food and service were below par on this visit to DH and I would expect more. The hollandaise sauce was nothing like what it should be while the muffin was limp and tasteless. Service was inattentive and took forever to provide our check. Do not be put off by this review; more an injunction to the restaurant to get back to its usual excellent standards!
Darlington House was terrific. The food was exceptional ( I had the Carbanora and tried not to eat all of it, epic fail), the staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The owner, Patricia, is also very nice and friendly. The only thing I could see some people having a little bit of a problem with is that it can be loud. But since your sitting in the palor of a 19th century townhouse with 18ft ceilings, the sound of everyone having a great time is going to resonate. But who cares? 5 stars!
Server was thrown off when we didn’t order the antipasta and pasta at the same time, to the point that he served a tables of six (who arrived after us) their entrees before he even came back for our order. The bread was cold and not delivered until we were served our entrees. The food was good but it definitely was not the best Italian food I’ve had before. My shrimp dish only had three shrimp which was somewhat disappointing when I typically see 6, at least for the price. If you are looking for an intimate dining experience, this isn’t the spot, that being said I am giving the Darlington House a 3/5 because of its environment. This restaurant definitely has potential to be great but it needs to prioritize service and the quality of the food. I will say that after I spoke with the manager things were significantly better but it’s already lost out if it gets to that point. It’s worth a try but definitely not a must do.
Had a really great night here! The ambiance is lovely, simultaneously fancy and comfortable. Looking forward to going back!
Delicious food but so noisy we couldn’t hear each other talk! Restaurant needs carpeting and draperies to absorb the sound.
The customer service was great and the selection for brunch/lunch was just right. I will remember this place for future dining.
We enjoyed Easter brunch at the Darlington House. Service was great, food was excellent - the eggs benedict was perfect, warmed donut holes were a nice treat and the chocolate eggs with the bill were an extra nice treat for the day.
Absolutely new favorite restaurant! Went for Easter Brunch and fell in love with the delicious food, amazing staff and beautiful restaurant.
A great find!!
Food was good and atmosphere was conducive to enjoyment. A bit pricy for the small portions offered
good solid Italian food - we liked all our entrees plus the delicious soup! Very nice service
The food is always delicious. We make it a point to eat there whenever we’re in DC
Returning after some time, we found DH at the top of its game. With Charlie, Victor and Antonio still in the kitchen, their excellence was obvious in perfectly fried fish appetizer and outstanding varied pastas and out of the world salmon. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the attention to our table by one of DH’s best ambassadors-Ernesto. Some restaurants make a big deal about their innovative ways of making, preparing, creating house-made pasta—DH pasta was the way you hope to find it in Italy—simple, full of flavor, not goopy, well balanced. We had a great time.
More expensive than we were expecting. Food was very good. I think the menu on OpenTable refers to the downstairs.
Great team dealt with our party who were suffering from too long a day based on the March. They were thoroughly professional. My risotto was spectacular
I tried twice.....noisy table in the bar....adequate food...poor service....
We had a very enjoyable brunch at Darlington House. The staff was very attentive, and the chef very amenable to adjusting my dish in light of my gluten/dairy issues. Both of our meals were delicious.
We have eaten here several times. The food and service were outstanding, as usual.
Great evening with terrific service and delicious food
The owners were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back. The mother and daughter gave us a tour of the historic building and visited with us throughout the evening. Again, we had a wonderful experience!
Great space for large parties in a cute old row home. Also in a really nice location, would totally dine here again.
Not sure why we were charged a higher price than what the menu indicated. But good food.
Food less than average...chicken parmegiana overbooked and dry. Cocktail a very short pour.
The Darlington House has always prepared extremely delicious meals for me and my dining companions. The food is Italian. It has been our "go to" anniversary restaurant for 10 years.
Staying at a nearby hotel we needed a place for dinner. I had the “heart shaped ravioli” and my wife had the chicken parmigiana. We each had a glass of domestic wine and cannoli and limoncello for dessert. While the food was very good, there was a very limited selection of vegetarian items. Overall it was a nice dinner if a bit overpriced, especially the wine list.
Went with family and had a fabulous meal. They were great to accommodate an order for a picky child. Calamari, pasta and wine were all delicious.
This place is truly great! the food, the atmosphere, and the wine all made this place special. Will highly recommend!
Found this little treasure at Dupont Circle area and was very happy!! Great service, great food and a pleasant atmosphere. We are always looking for good places to eat in DC and Darlington House is now one of them. There is a cozy little pub on the lower level too!! Will be back to this fine place!!
Service was slow and the food was mediocre. Amateur hour for V Day.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Was good food but had to wait a lil over an hour from our reservation due to back up. But other than that food was good. A little pricey
Friendly staff in a very cozy space in DC. Definitely will dine here again with friends!!
It was fine, but packed. They seated us all far too close to other diners. Wine by the glass prices were too much! Everything was just average; good but not outstanding, especially for the price.
This was the first Italian restaurant my fiance and I tried when we moved to Washington DC. The food is amazing and the service was top-notch, we went back for Valentine's Day and the service and the food we're still top notch.
We came here on a busy night and knew that we wouldn’t have attentive service, however, the service was not only non attentive but down right disrespectful. I would recommend having a nice meal somewhere else in the city that will give you a pleasurable experience.
Yummy food and lovely atmosphere for a family birthday dinner. Centrally located for easy access from Metro and nearby hotels.
Patricia, the owner, was amazing. She was very attentive and cared about our experience.
The food was good. The place had two large parties but the noise was hardly noticeable. We had a nice meal.
Wonderful evening! The staff was attentive and the food amazing!!! Greatly enjoyed our dinner and will go back again! Highly recommended
Great food, homemade pasta, wonderful staff in a cozy setting right off DuPont Circle.
