Always good. Always pleasant. Always yummy. Would return again and again!
This place was very, very good. It was not busy at all, so service was fast and there was almost no noise. Setting was cozy. Food was very good.
Always delicious to dine at Darlington House. Great and varied Italian dishes at reasonable prices. The wait staff is the friendliest around.
Restaurant was a little overwhelmed when we arrived. Our table was not ready. The hostess was super apologetic. We saw two seats at the bar, so chose to eat there rather than wait for a table. The restaurant has a good vibe. One big complaint, two older gentlemen came in and sat at the bar next to us. They had a Westie (dog) with them, which one of the men held in his lap the entire time, scratching the dog's belly. Not the most appetizing thing to eat next to. People are so crazy...
Delicious dinner of fresh caprese salad and the best lobster risotto. My wife had an arugula salad with shaved Parmesan and homemade fettuccini with a hearty mix of shellfish in a spicy marinara. She loved it too. Great bottle of Tuscan wine. Lively atmosphere with a mix of younger people and people in their 50s. Best to reserve a table ahead as there was a line at the door. After dinner, we went downstairs to Dive bar to listen to some live music. All around great evening! Highly recommend.
Service was excellent and the food was incredible!
Food & service excellent. We had a large group that was easily accommodated. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Atmosphere was comfortable and noise level low making for easy conversations.
it was a work dinner and so very fun! Food was delicious and service was great!!
I've been here a few times for business dinners. Great food, but really slow service.
LOVE LOVE 💘
Great atmosphere, food was phenomenal. Service was exceptional.
We then went downstairs for the open Mike night. Definitely worth our time and money!!
Great night with friends. Excellent drinks st bar. Once seated cannoli beans with sausage are a must. Salmon dishes, fresh pasta and chicken entree were the main dishes. Staff, service and food are wonderful!
Really nice experience in DuPont Circle. We went to the Phillips Collection and came here after for dinner. Good choice! Very good Italian food, especially the pasta but also good grotto midtown, and pleasant atmosphere where we enjoyed talking in the old townhouse drawing room.
Delicious food, warm ambience!! Loved it.
Loved the location and we had a great table. The food was delicious and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Thank you for a great dinner!
It was very easy to make the reservations that the hostess was expecting our group of 8 when we arrived. The wait staff was very professional and courteous. Portions for the food were on the smaller side but it arrived piping hot and was very tasty. The selection was limited, but not an issue to my group and the staff made accommodations and adjustments to dishes to suite taste.
Overall a great experience off DuPont Circle for a business dinner during the week.
Charming atmosphere, amazing fresh homemade pastas, soups and salads, delicious, creative desserts and wonderful service.
Wonderful food, excellent service. We went here for a Sunday evening dinner with friends at the recommendation of another friend, and it was exactly what we wanted!
Sweet gem of place
A warm and inviting spot in a key location.
The food is always delicious.
The staff are consistently friendly and professional.
Always a top choice.
Overall excellent place to dine. Service staff get an A for knowledge of their menu and recommendations. House wine gets an A plus for value. Only complaint is that we dined there twice in three days and the special was still the same selections. Good job Darlington.
The Darlington House has long been one of my favorite restaurants in Washington, D.C. It is intimate and quite elegant on the inside. The wait staff was wonderful and made our party of five feel as though we were the only ones there, even on a busy Friday evening. They were attentive to our every need. The food is excellent. The five individuals in my group ordered four different items and we all were very happy with our choices. I personally ordered the ravioli and it was superb. The Caesar salad also was scrumptious. We still had room for desert and I must say that was another highlight for our entire group. The chocolate lava cake was the best desert I've had in a year! Over the past few years I've also had wonderful dining experiences at the Darlington House for lunch. If available, ask for a table near the beautiful window and people gaze along Connecticut Ave. Overall, I'd give Darlington House Five Stars!
Service was slow. Food was disappointing
It was as always wonderful. Great food, exceptional service.
My party enjoyed our dinner at Darlington House. The food was good and fairly priced. Steak ordered rare was served rare, a starter of sausage and beans was excellent. My guests were also satisfied. The service was excellent and responsive: when I requested the music be turned down the hostess did so immediately and with a smile and our waiters were very attentive.
I was surprised, however, that each of the two iced teas were $10 which, considering the total bill, had a 'nickel and dime' feel to it. Water (and the scotch and wine I consumed) only next time.
Go and enjoy!
Homemade pasta! Need I say more?? Afterwards The Dive Bar downstairs was an exciting surprise and nice change of scenery.
Restaurant Week Ripoff - Unfortunately, my wife and I chose this establishment for our date night on Restaurant week. The dinner portions were unbelievably small and looked more like a kids meal. The waiter even told me not to order the Tortellini if you are hungry because it was so small. Then we had dessert which was even more of a bad joke. The cannoli was so tiny my wife and I couldn't even share it. I said something to your server who replied what do you expect "it's restaurant week". To make matter worse we couldn't even have a cappuccino at the end of our meal because your machine was broken. I have never had this type of treatment at any meal during restaurant week in the past 10 years. We left your restaurant hungry and feeling cheated out of the money we paid for dinner. I also, reached out to the owners who didn't even respond.
I went for brunch during restaurant week.
The peach Bellini with the Chesapekae Bay Benedict was AMAZING. The side potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and had a great texture. The staff were attentive and we're patient with us as we waited for another member of our party to arrive.
The atmosphere and the decor are bright and welcoming.
It's the perfect spot to bring your mom/grandmother when she's in town.
Everything was phenomenal. The staff was very attentive
We went to the Darlington House to celebrate my friends engagement. The food was delicious, the service made us all feel special, and the ambiance was perfect. Everything was wonderful and everyone had a great time!
Great food. Handmade pasta that cant be beat. Less stuffy than traditional italian restaurants.
When asked waiter a wine recommendation he said they are all good, pick italian or california.
I had brought out of town friends because I had just had superb brunch....low noise because less than 12 patrons. Thursday noise so high couldnt hear. We had to threaten to leave if our food wasnt served after half hour. Two out of three of my party had terrible entrees. We should have left after first bite.
Delicious Sunday brunch with great view of the farmers market.
Bright and sunny
I just discovered this place earlier this summer and returned Saturday evening based on my favorable first impression. The food was outrageously good from appetizers to the Italian pasta dishes to the pastry and chocolate desserts. There were four of us and we tried a variety of specials and regular menu. Everything was so fresh and tasty. My son in law is a chef and he was very impressed. The service (Ernesto) was excellent friendly and attentive as well. A great memorable dining experience. We will definately be back. Not cheap but absolutely worth it. Go hungary you will be glad you did! [I typically do not rate places but I felt I had to make an exception in this case.]
After the reservation also they were not entertaining as and said some other guest party was supposed to leave but they didn't so we can't help you. After a discussion finally gave a table, Too noisy, food is not that great, too pricy, not worth the money, cocktails are really bad and sugary
Welcoming staff, delicious Italian classics, and great location.
Started at bar with friends. Staff and Service are always excellent and always willing to help. Sausage and polenta starters were outstanding!!! Pasta dishes with shrimp were outstanding and the first time I had it. We all ended with the same. Great food.
Ordinary, but good food. Limited wine by the glass, limited menu of typical Italian staples. Pasta is supposed to be homemade, but could not tell. Nothing wrong, but nothing different than what you can get at thousands of Italian restaurants around the country.
First of all, it is an Italian restaurant, though you wouldn't guess that from the name. The ambiance is charming; it is located in an old house on Dupont Circle. The food was very good; some standbys like spinach ravioli and gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce and some more creative pastas such as one with salmon in a pink vodka sauce. Almost all the pastas are handmade and are excellent. The menu is very extensive and portion sizes are moderate. The service was so-so; our server didn't come by as often as we would've liked and it was hard to get his attention when he passed by. A little noisy but not so much so that you couldn't carry on a conversation. This was our first visit and overall we were quite pleased.
Went to Darlington House with my husband for brunch. They had live music, which was great! The guy had a nice voice and played well. The food was very tasty, but perhaps a bit overpriced for what it was. Service was great and friendly too. We will definitely be back!
I didn't notice at the time but the $50 bottle of wine I ordered was charged at $90 on my bill. Was too occupied with my guests to notice at the time. The switch was not requested or run by us. Disappointing. Probably won't go back.
