Great Indian food with pleasant service. Had guests in from Mumbai and needed veg/Jains meal options, and DarBar came through.
I eat here quite a bit, and the food is consistently terrific. Everything on the menu is tasty and authentic. Don't be shy, try!
Some of the best Indian I've had in the US for sure. Don't be put off by the storefront/decor- this is good stuff! Family owned joint where grandma came out to talk to us and see how we liked the food. I'd recommend going all out for the Traditional Thali for a taste of everything. We had that, the Darbar special, and Rogan Josh & I honestly couldn't pick a favorite curry. Reminded me of brick lane but with much nicer service!
They season dishes to your taste - mild to spicy. Everything was very good.
Lamb was delicious.
My family and I came here after my sister's graduation ceremony. We were trying to find restaurants that were open late and not only were they open an hour past most restaurants, they were very accommodating to us and did not rush us out. They also have a separate parking lot but it is a walk away.
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was outstanding! We had Chicken Tikka Marsala and 12 Spice Curry Chicken. Delicious. Wonderful Garlic naan. Highly recommended.
Can't beat a great buffet, 2 soft drinks and tip for $30. I went all vegetarian on this one and everything was delicious. More fresh vegetables for the salad section would be a welcomed addition. There are several Indian uses for cucumber (which they had there) to make appetizing salads. A little pickling and curry and they would make that part of the buffet equally as appetizing and the rest.
BTW, dessert was included with the Buffet, but I did not over indulge. Overall really good, especially for the price and variety of dishes.
On a business trip to Baltimore I wanted to find a local Indian resturant and found Darbar. The staff at the resturant were really nice and helpful. Coming from Europe I asked if they had a similar dish to a bhuna, my favourite dish, the gentleman walked me through the best dishes on the menu and even said he would make me a bhuna if I wanted one.
The food we had was very delicious, I recommend this resturant and will definitely be back!
Darbar is a very nice place to go eat if you want good Indian cuisine in a pleasant setting. The staff is friendly and attentive to good service. It is quiet enough for good visiting. We have gone there with small groups of six or eight and been very pleased with our evening.
Darbar serves delicious Indian food in a wonderful setting. Great service, too!
Amazing food. The goat is fall of the bone good. Highly recommend
Darbar has great Indian food, and the service is wonderful. It's one of our go-to spots. It can be a bit pricey if you start ordering alcohol, but the food prices are very reasonable (especially because they always bring extra rice for you).
I had never been to this site before so I don't know how this happened. When I saw an email about the initial reservation I tried to contact open table about it but there is no customer service contact info provided. Please delete my account. Thank you.
Always a delight. Never disappoints. And they serve Indian beer!
Always have something great and tasty here. Never been disappointed. 5 stars!
Popped in for the lunch buffet on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. A delightful variety of Indian dishes, all tasty and succulent. Can't beat the buffet price. I'll be back and highly recommend!
Amazing food and amazing service!
Went to Darbar for our first time last weekend. My first impression was: "Whoa! This place is way to nice to be an Indian restaurant." Decor was very nice. We were seated immediately, although the host misread our reservation and seated us at the wrong table. The waitress returned several minutes later and asked us to move to a smaller table, which was awkward. Servers were very attentive. We ordered the lamb korma and lamb vindaloo, along with some breads and mango lassis. The korma was good, nothing too special. The vindaloo was unbearably spicy. When the owner noticed that we weren't eating the vindaloo she quickly replaced it with a less spicy sauce, making the dish much more palatable. The mango lassis were delicious. Overall good restaurant, but probably will turn elsewhere for our next Indian food experience.
We were excited by the reviews to find this gem in Fells Point. Unfortunately, all the vegetarian dishes we ordered fair and not noteworthy as we'd hoped. The bengan bhartha was too oily and lacked any taste. The one exception was our tandoori paneer tikka, which a little on the dry side was excellent in its spices and tandoor flavors. Overall, the service was prompt, but when we asked one of the dishes to be served to us, the server seemed to spill them all over us and the plates! Too pricey for the food and service.
We had the lunch buffet. I am a first generation Indian and I felt the food was pretty authentic. As with any buffet, the food is a little half hearted but it was tasty nonetheless.
As usual the food was outstanding but for some reason the food coming out of the kitchen was extremely slow even though it was not a totally packed house. Our waiter did his best to satisfy our needs in light of the slow kitchen. But we will still come back - love the food and the owners!
There seemed to be a lot of private conversation that was easily heard at our table concerning a room or hotel reservation with a member of the staff. I assume they also manage a hotel that uses the restaurant for the intake, which is a little odd. This was our first impression.
Because we were two ladies taking our time and enjoying each others company we were in no hurry to order, in fact my friend is Indian and I wanted her help explaining the menu. So we were served the bread and toppings as we reviewed the menu. We next ordered soups and asked to keep the menu so we could discuss and make our choices. When our server returned with the soups and asked if we were ready to order our meals we replied not yet. She said, "ok we're open til 10" It was before 8 when this conversation took place and there were less than 4 tables seated, they were not busy. Yet we felt rushed for no reason. Our server was sitting at the bar eating for most of our visit. Basically the servers could be educated on pacing service depending on the customer.
The food was very good and the portion sizes were plentiful. The table service of plate removal and water refill was good. Not fine dinning and the nest time I want Indian I will try someplace different, I just wasn't that impressed.
Free parking across the street awesome!
Darbar had delicious food all the way from the chutnies, rice, naan, and the main courses! The restaurant was quite, but had families as well as couples on dates--- old and young!
My only "issue" was our food took an extremely long time and our server didn't communicate to us what was going on. Other than that we had a great experience!
Tried some new dishes. Lamb koftka was very tasty. Sauce was additictive. Like every other time service was friendly and attentive. Gets better every time we go
People went out of way to serve us. Food was very good. It is a nice new surprise in canton.
We love Darbar. The food and service is always great. It was great to find out that they have a complimentary parking lot across the street which is great in Fells Point. Can't wait to return!
Had such a great meal on Wednesday...went back on Saturday. Terrific Indian food. As good as any Indian I've ever had. Been here five times...consistently great.
Outstanding food. Terrific staff. And only a two block walk for me. Nice.
If you want absolutely delicous Indian cuisine, Darbar is the place to go. Pretty surroundings, great service and outstanding food. Five of us each ordered something different and had starters - and shared. Everything was yummy on its own - not at all "one sauce fits all" like some indian restaurants we've visited. Defintiely a "go back to" place!
You are treated warmly on arrival. The owner and servers are all very attentive. Food is terrific. On this visit since we were hungry started with the kulcha with cheese mushroom and onion to provide some substance. Entrees - my standby, the chicken tikka massala did not disappoint, buttery tomatoey and addictive. Tried the lamb chops which were tasty though a bit more done than my preference of med- rare. Did not order the saag this visit but it is usually very well done. Still want to try the eggplant so another visit is in my future
We were in Baltimore for a tradeshow - took my wife and small children out along with our sales team and sales reps - about 10 people all in all. We ordered a bunch of dishes and shared everything. Staff was wonderful and friendly and put up with my overactive toddler. Enjoyed all of the dishes, especially the lamb.
I adore Indian food. The Ambassador has always been a special place...and while Darbar does not have the same ambiance as the Ambassador, it's food is minimally as good if not better. It's great Fells Point has such a gem. And the staff is wonderful...clearly interested in making sure you have a great night there. I highly recommend Darbar.
Delicious food. Attentive service. Don't forget to ask for your 15% discount
Wonderful proprietors of the restaurant. Service was excellent - they have 2 older teenagers who were superb (nice that they hired them at their age). Food was delicious. Dessert was different - it was Indian rice pudding we experienced for the first time. Can't wait to go back!
This is your standard Indian Restaurant, but it's very good. All the classics are well done and the bread is very good.
A wonderful place to go for an evening dinner with family and friends. The service is fantastic and personal, the food was plentiful and interesting, and we didn't have to deal with the rowdiness of an open bar area. That alone makes it worth checking out.
The food was incredible, and they were willing to make things off menu as well (my wife wanted Mattar Paneer, which wasn't on the menu, and they happily obliged). That said, the rest of the service was ok, and the ambience was just ok as well (though it's hard to hold anyone to the ambience standard set by the Ambassador Dining Room). Would go back for their chicken Masaledar every day of the week.
Darbar starts the meal with three delicious relishes to complement the generous plate of papadam: all spicy but not too hot. The menu features all the traditional Indian offerings but they feature more tandoor options than most others. Service was very attentive and everyone enjoyed their selections. I would certainly come again when I visit Baltimore.
Great food and service-a neighborhood gem-highly recommend it for any occasion. The wait staff goes above and beyond
