Came here after reading all the hype about it, but wasn’t entirely convinced. All of the main entrees we got were very good, however, we all agreed something was missing more or less. I got the trois mignon and it was good, but the petite steaks were all the same more or less. The “toppings” didn’t change the flavor a lot, but I didn’t mind it.
Dessert is when everything went south. We ordered two different ones: the pecan pie and the apple crumble. The pie was just fine, and the apple was so bad we had to send it back. Tasted as if it had been made days ago and had been brought out stale and dry. I was disappointed.
The service was also very average. I wouldn’t even categorize it as “good”. With it being such a hot spot, maybe they don’t necessarily need over the top/nice servers. Even though I’d expect good service either way...
Overall, wouldn’t say I’d go back. But for the most part the food was very good. Just didn’t have that great of an experience.
I'm worried that we're seeing the demise of a once excellent restaurant. The service was inattentive at best, the food was overcooked and sloppily plated. Where many restaurants stay on "top" lists, or even show a resurgence over time, I don't see Dante's doing this. The lack of people there when we visited is probably a sign of bad things to come.
Great food, relaxing ambiance and friendly staff. We both had the 3 course meal with wedge salad, redfish in a shell and cobbler dessert. Absolutely delicious.
Went for Saturday brunch and it was wonderful!
We ate on the outside patio. Beautiful with overhead lights coming on at twilight. The food was stunning. The three of us had two different appetizers and three entrees. All were excellent. Flounder was the special fish. My husband said his Almondine was the best he'd had in years. A side of green beans were crispy and perfectly done.
One waiter had the whole patio, having some problem with service. Long waits, neglected drink orders, no spoonbread (which is usually brought at the beginning as the table's bread), etc.
But we'll be going back for the food!
Lovely house and garden restaurant. Good food. Great wine. Friendly service. Wasn't exactly buzzing when we were there but busy enough and a lovely escape from the city.
Cute neighborhood restaurant in what used to be a home.
Server did not offer 2nd drink. I debated with the server over medium or medium rare on my mignon and went with medium(he said ‘I think We can get it...’) It came medium-well. Still, flavorful food & fun location.
Larry was absolutely fantastic. Everyone was kind, the food was delicious and arrived quickly!
Awesome meal as usual. Great staff and a good value wine list.
Came with my family of 4 total (wife and 2 young kids). First, they sat us without giving us the menus, then took some time between bringing waters and getting food orders for our hungry young kids.
When we placed the order, it was explicitly requested to brings the food ordered for the kids first so that they could get started. While it didn’t come out first, it was early enough to get going with feeding the kids. Waiter was all in all not attentive. Requests for additional water, for an extra plate were made to our waiter and even another waiter that we were able to flag down, but response was very delayed. My wife ended up clearing the table of excess plates between appetizers and entrees to give additional room on the table for the kids.
When main entrees came, one of them - Trois Mignion, was served with Mashed potatoes being cold. Don’t know how long it was waiting. Furthermore the waiter never came back to check on us after the food was served, except to hand us the bill.
Food was great, but the service will leave a very bad taste in our mouths for a very long time.
The food is very good. Gulf fish almondine was excellent. Good cocktails and very good service. I have had the duck and redfish before that were also very good. Easy parking and some outdoor dining as well.
Parents visiting from out of town. We all love Dante’s. Great food, great service, everything was great.
Dante's Kitchen is probably my favorite uptown restaurant - even beating commander's on almost every occasion. This last visit was perfect except for the overdone toast. When we sent it back, we were told "that's how it's made here", but I've never had the burnt toast there before. Sure enough, other people were also receiving the slightly blackened toast. Our bread was replaced with some dark brown toast that did not over-power the remainder of the 'soppings.' The rest of the food was amazing - chicken under a brick is a gem. Amazingly tasty.
Loved it. Very cosy, homely feel and all ingredients were fresh. All items were freshly prepared
Love the emphasis on farm to table vegetables and incorporation of vegetables as entree
Very good place. Perfect for a romantic date or a meal with friends.
Exceptional service from all live all of the organic food choices.
Why go into the quarter when you can have a great meal uptown? Food was fresh, flavorful, and unique. Plenty of street parking. Quiet, safe part of uptown. Good variety of food.
We are glad we tried this restaurant. Larry was a great waiter, they were busy so there were some long waits between him stopping by. We were seated in the front area of the restaurant and that ambiance seemed the most sterile; would like to have seen the other rooms. Would request a different table if we go back. I had the vegetarian platter and it was delicious but a bit pricy for what was on it.
Food was great, service was a little slow, outside ambience was nice, but loud beside river rd
Service was slow with not all table filled, and the steak was very overdone, but staff was friendly, and the food was excellent and the outdoor courtyard atmosphere was quite cozy and comfortable.
Louis was amazing all of the food was exceptional love the lemon tart!
This was first time dining there but we will return. The service was friendly. The food was great. And there is no problem to park.
Dante's Kitchen has been on my list for years, and we finally had the chance to try it out for our 10 year anniversary. The food was amazing and a really cool atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Under A Brick - it lived up to it's reputation. We will be back!
We arrived after the Saints game and were seated promptly. All was good except the Duck entree was very fatty and chewy. I was not able to eat about 1/3 of the duck. The sides were quite tasty.
Great food in a casual atmosphere, and reasonably priced, too. The chicken under a brick is unreal.
Too long a wait after having arrived with a reservation.
Nowhere to stand as you wait. The greeter suggested standing outside, although it was near freezing that night.
New Years Eve
Food was ok, but it was New Years Eve. Would try it again on a regular night. Service was a bit chaotic.
great place with good food. it has very interesting combinations of food for your palette
Highlights included the bone marrow with escargot, the seared duck breast, and side dish of ratatouille. The service was friendly and drinks were fantastic.
Only drawback I can see are that the tables are close together - so you do know the next tables conversations (including fights by nearby couples!).
Overall recommend highly for a great meal.
We heard about Dante’s Kitchen on Beyond Bourbon Street and decided we had to try it out. It definitely did NOT disappoint! We’ll be going back!
I sent folks (4) for a business meal (Candidate Interview). They all enjoyed their meals, desserts, the service, and the atmosphere very much. A few from the area had never been before and both noted that they will make sure that Dante's Kitchen is on their list to return to.
Very nice dinner. Good cocktails and good service. Quiet and easy to park and such.
Our waiter, Malcolm, was outstanding and made our dinner special. Very knowledgeable, friendly and set the atmosphere for a cozy meal with friends. Excellent service, food and experience at Dante’s Kitchen!
Hostess was not terribly pleasant. Food quality not as good as it used to me. Even their molasses corn bread was not good!
Dante's was very good. Good cocktails, and reasonably priced wine list. Escargot with bone marrow was very good as is the seafood hot pot. Very tasty redfish and beef cheeks. A great place for vegetables as well.
This is a more casual neighborhood restaurant with great food. The "hot pot" of seafood was quite good. Full bar and a decent wine list.
Our meal was fabulous!
Our service was fabulous!
We had not been to Dante's Kitchen in a while and our friends had never dined there. We all loved it.
We love Dantes kitchen. They have the best seasonal vegetarian plate. The chicken under a brick is fantastic as well. We shared with them that we had just gotten married and they brought out champagne toasters. It was great.
