An outstanding restaurant in the suburbs! Who knew. No need to travel to the city to find a top notch place to dine. Food was great. Menu has a wide selection of choices. Everything was delicious.
We were able to talk in a conversational tone easily.
All in all a very nice evening.
There were 6 of us for dinner Saturday night and they put us in a private room upstairs but the table was way too big and they had us all at one end of the table. I found it odd and did not like it. The table was really meant for a party of 12. I asked if we could change to another room with a table for 6 but they were unable to accommodate us. They didn’t make much effort to even try. The staff was friendly but I was put off by the seating and at times felt we were forgotten and had to wave someone down to come and check on us.
Ordered the lamb chops and the dover sole. The lamb chops were mostly gristle with very little meat. The dover sole was not tender and was rather chewy, and certainly was not flakey - almost needed a knife to cut it cleanly. But perhaps the worst part of the meal was the service. It began when we sat for a while with no menus. Then, when we finally got menus, they were simply dropped off - we had to read through the menus on our own to find out the specials for the day. When the waiter returned, we asked how the dover sole is and how fresh it is, and he shrugged and said "we try to have it be fresh" -- so what does that mean we wondered? Bread was delivered to the table without any butter or (EVVO) olive oil, we were left to try and figure out for ourselves that the little black bottle (about 4 inches tall) that was on the table already was perhaps the olive oil intended to be used with the bread -- so we unscrewed the mysterious bottle and took a taste, discovering it was in fact olive oil. Since we did not particularly enjoy the dover sole we decided to take it home -- asking the waiter to pack it up for us which he did. He then returned with the package in a bag, placing it as an entree in front of my girlfriend, disregarding the fact that we wanted to order dessert. She then asked him if he could place the bagged to-go-box on the empty table next door, and he said, yes, YOU can put it on the chair of the table next door, as he walked way unhelpful. Overall a terrible experience.
Another great meal at Dante Ristorante. We had proscuito with burrata, tomatoes & pepers, fish soup (clams, mussels, shrimp, rock fish & calamari), veal & ended with sorbet. Our server was Rene who can't be beat. We looked forward to coming back.
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Dante’s this evening, and we were very impressed! When we first entered the restaurant there were two very nice gentlemen who greeted us and offered to take our coats. We were immediately shown to our table, and we were well-looked-after for the rest of the evening. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, and he even went above-and-beyond by writing “Happy Anniversary” on our dessert plate at the end of our dinner. Our meals were absolutely delicious. A variety of breads were brought to the table, and they were all fresh and delicious! We both started with a Caesar salad, and we were offered fresh ground pepper to go with it. I had the homemade agnolotti and requested a different sauce than what is on the menu. Our waiter was able to make that change without a problem, and it was an absolutely delicious dinner. My partner got the ribeye for dinner and he loved it! It was “very tender and cooked well.” Even though our anniversary was on a Monday night, we were certainly not the only people in the dining room. However, the atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for quiet, friendly conversations. Overall a fantastic experience! We will be back soon!
Always good and always very friendly staff.....
Love this place!!!
Highly recommended for food service and overall experience.
We have been to Dante many times and brought many family members and friends. It is always consistent, with service and food. Someone always orders the Fishermans stew. Its always gets raves. I personally like the veal chop and panna cotta. It's a lovely restaurant with a warm ambiance. I like to sit on the first floor; just my preference. Everyone is always welcoming.
Proposed marriage to my now-fiancee there. Chose Dante's because it may very well be THE most Romantic restaurant in all of the DC area. And oh, the pasta and tiramisu were heavenly.
Good food. But never refilled water.
Excellent in every way! Highly recommended.
We were a group of 16 diners, the service was impeccable and food delicious. Many were vegetarians in our group. Everyone enjoyed the dining experience @ Dante.
the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dante’s is a great experience. Great food and wine, excellent service and a surprisingly good value.
Giuseppe always does a great job!
Amazing service and authentic Italian food. Outstanding!
Simply OUTSTANDING across all categories!
Great service and ambiance. However, very average food at a very expensive price.
Our group loves the atmosphere at Dante’s and we frequent it often. However, we’ve had the same rude waiter the last three visits and have decided that we will not be returning. The food is great but the waiter ruined the entire experience especially for the guest of honor who was celebrating her 75 birthday. It was especially embarrassing when another waiter poured the birthday girl a glass of wine but he only had about an inch of wine in the bottle. We politely asked if he would add more wine to the glass but he never returned. When we asked the head waiter to complete the pour he gave her a hard time and said “you drank it down”. When we explained what happened he rolled his eyes and proceeded to pour a tiny bit of wine. I was paying for my friends’s lunch so I didn’t want to argue with this ignorant man so I paid the $20 for a glass and 1/4 glass of wine. Another guest, who we ran into outside, said that waiter hates waiting on older women. If that’s true, he doesn’t have to worry about us anymore.
Great as usual
Love the ambiance - small rooms, so dinners are intimate. Food is excellent as is wine selection.
As always a lovely meal! It had been a while since we'd eaten there, now we're wondering what kept us away.
We have been patrons of Dante Ristorante since 1989. We feel as if we are a part of the family. Never a disappointing meal. Attentive service and utterly reliable menu. Giuseppe di Benigno is the chef/owner whose enthusiasm for his work illuminates the restored home turned into a unique restaurant. There are many private rooms available. You will not be disappointed!
Great gem - so glad we found it! The ambience is excellent and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
Food & service were excellent. We were upstairs in one of the smaller rooms & it was quite noisy. Difficult to have a conversation.
We always have a wonderful meal and experience at Dante.
Phenomenal experience. Wonderful food and fantastic staff.
You know you are going to enjoy your experience upon driving up to this beautiful mansion. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the wonderful, attentive staff. The food and beverages are beautifully presented. Each item tastes as good as it looks. This is a place you will want I try everything on the menu, so plan on many returns. Be sure to block time for your visit, as you do not feel rushed. This is a wonderful, relaxing evening out.
I always enjoy the experience at Dante. The wait staff is attentive and the food is excellent. The restaurant is divided into small rooms, since it is in a large house. The bar area is very cozy and warm. I like to go there because the staff is nice, the food is great, the parking is ample, the traffic is light. What not to love?
As always, the food and service were excellent. Dante is the best kept secret!
This restaurant is top notch for everything. I highly recommend it to all.
Four of us went on a Monday evening to celebrate 2 birthdays. Probably at least our 4th trip as a group to Dante's . Quiet adn not crowded that evening. I had Shrimp risotto which was SO good. Good salad, good bread. Service was perfect and the food came quickly. Two of us split the ricotta pistachio cake I couldhave eaten the whole thing and will the next time. Wonderful as always.
We wanted a quiet family birthday with good food. It excelled in all our requests. Thanks you very much.
Meeting old friends from Argentina
Great place for a family meal. Food was excellent and we had our own room for our group of 9.
Nice place for our anniversary. We were dressed, others we not. Service was attentive yet not overbearing and our waiter caught visual clues without interrupting. They gave us our choice of seating in a place with a beautiful atmosphere. A very pleasant experience.
This was our return to Dante's and we brought along some friends who hadn't been there before. They agreed with us, this is a great restaurant. The food was terrific, the service flawless, and the prices reasonable for that level of restaurant. Our server was Renee and he is great.
This was a wonderful experience. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was impeccable. We had a private room to ourselves which was excellent since we had two kids with us. I would highly recommend.
Reliable and real warmth, professionalism and superb cuisine; that says it all -
Overall good meal. But disappointed not told that Arnold Palmer drink would be sprite and not lemonade
