Yes I would recommend this restaurant to a friend, I like the homey atmosphere and the fact that it’s quiet and you can hold a conversation. The wait staff is very attentive and seems like the perfect place for a special dinner. It’s nice to see people get dressed up when they go out to eat!
A marvelous meal, enjoyed outside with the babbling fountain providing a wonderful background. Our server Rene could not have been more attentive but gave us the privacy we needed to enjoy our special dinner. And he was a master at managing the Dover soul. The pumpkin ravioli we split for the pasta course was a full meal on its own. The wine list includes many excellent choices without being overwhelming.
Very pleasant lunch on the porch! We had the special of the day-pumpkin ravioli, and the risotto. Both were wonderful. For dessert we had the pistachio cake and the panna cotta; fabulous! Service was outstanding. We will return.
It was our first time at Dante’s. Cute atmosphere, good service but my husband and I both ordered the veal
Chop and it was over cooked. Also, we had our two kids with us and they didn’t offer us a kids menu and charged us for full adult entree’s. I just assumed we were ordering a kids portion of pasta....so, overall, a little disappointed. I would give it a another try though.
This is a restaurant we have gone to for several years for a nice dining experience. It never disappoints. I often order veal but this time I ordered a special, Swordfish, and it was excellent. I don't recall ever having something that was not well done. Even with dessert, I leave feeling full and satisfied but never uncomfortable. Over time, we have gotten to know the staff well and they treat us like friends. We will continue to go back for special occasions or even a more ordinary reason to eat out.
Dante's never disappoints. We were seated outside and enjoyed the live jazz band while dining. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The wait staff remembers their guests and greets us like old friends.
Lovely evening outside w music and great food!
We love Dante’s because the food is excellent, the service is great, the location is a pleasure. I can’t say enough good things about Dante’s because it’s our favorite restaurant. We have family reunions there, meet other couples for dinner and I love to meet friends there for lunch. An excellent menu, great people to serve you! And, it’s not loud!
Super restaurant Cant believe In have m missed it for all these years!!
The food is cooked by a chef which understands too much seasoning will mask the true taste.
The veal chops are to die for and everything else is simply awesome.
Love this restaurant. Our new favorite.
Dinner on porch, jazz music in the garden, good wine, food and service.
Always good. Always a pleasure. Not a bad thing on the menu.
Great ristorante. Food awesome and the patio is great
The food was good but not fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection but the mushroom ravioli was bland. The bread was okay.
The host never gave us a wine list and then asked what we wanted to drink. Our waiter didn’t know the menu in Italian or English. Wouldn’t recommend. It seems nice on the surface but is just blehh. The waiter also gave us the bill before we were done, even though we had coffee and dessert still on the table, and it wasn’t near closing time.
Half way through the dinner the restaurant and area lost power. Although not the restaurants fault, we continued our meal in darkness and rising temperatures. They asked for our credit cards when we were done in order to charge our accounts once power was restored. We have yet to hear from them. As well, they offered nothing to us in any way to make up for the inconvenience and meal disruption. It would have been a nice gesture on their part especially as we are fairly frequent diners there.
Love Dante’s! Keep up the excellence!
At 3pm we needed a table for ten and got it with no problem for 7pm.
The caessar salad was too mild. I didn't taste any garlic or anchovy. Otherwise everything was quite tasty. i would have preferred a waiter whose English I could better understand.
We’ve been here three times by coincidence in the past 3 weeks and have enjoyed the appetizers (calamari excellent, lightly battered, and the crab tower superb, light fresh and delicious) and entrees, lamb chops, salmon, both v good and ravioli (delicious). The service however not so good. We had the same waiter and he is surly, inattentive and delivery of food very slow (not sure if latter is due to the waiter or the kitchen). Disappointing for the third time, on a slow evening. Ambience is great if you are looking for traditional quiet dining. Not for hip youngsters which we are not. The food is excellent the service not so much.
Tremendous dining experience with an exceptional wait staff and perfectly prepared food.
The room we ate in was very nice. Not too noisy. Our waiter was responsible for the entire room, so service
was slow. My dinner was good - filet - and cooked to my request. My husband was not pleased with the service or his food - too much sauce.
It wasn't a bad experience, but not super!
Appetizers were delicious. All the pastas and the Salmon special were excellent! I do not recommend the Shrimp Risotto, but otherwise everything was great. The wine list has quite a few house wines (different varietals of red, and white, not just one house red and one house white). This makes for a lot of really good value wine choices.
Great restaurant with friendly staff, delicious food, and atmosphere. Went with my wife and 2 guests and all were impressed with the quality of the food and service. wine list is extensive. This is one of our favorite "Nice" spots to visit.
Dante's is a local institution; always relaxed, welcoming, superb service and food that simply never disappoints. What more can you say?
Dante was very quiet on a Wednesday evening, but we enjoyed eating outside on their patio. The food was all tasty and well-prepared, and the service was excellent. The price was more than we usually pay, but we will return again for a special occasion. I highly recommend the ambiance of their outside dining area.
Loved the modest but atmospheric interior design, attentive and insightful waiter, and reasonable prices. Half-portions of pasta dishes available, and rather large, but my wild boar pappardelle was so delicious I wish I’d ordered the whole one and skipped the (excellent) veal chop entree.
Would like to see a mushroom or truffle pasta dish on the menu.
Good wine selections, including inexpensive options. I would have liked the Malbec we selected to have been served closer to 55 degrees, instead of room temperature.
We had a lovely time with cousins here. Liked the small room atmosphere and attentive staff. Food was good but too heavily salted.
We had family visiting from NY and Europe and this was the perfect venue for our group- including two children. The food was excellent. Appetizers were calamari, scallops wrapped in bacon and crab with avocado and so delicious! Main course gnocchi, pasta, steak and seafood soup absolutely delicious. Everyone was very impressed with deserts also kids loved the sorbets and adults cannoli. Service was nicely spread. Will definitely be returning with my family!
Excellent dinner at Dante’s!!
Absolutely delightful — food, service and ambiance. We’ll be back for sure!
Other than the waiter not hearing or understanding we wanted Him to split our appetizers, everything was fine
Literally the worst Italian food I have ever tasted in my life. I went here based on the positive reviews but those have to be fabricated or paid for. The food was DISGUSTING, and that is no understatement. It would genuinely be a candidate for Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares it was so bad. And to top it all off it was absurdly expensive. Talk about a waste of 120 dollars. Nothing was fresh. The carpaccio was dark brown on the edges (clearly not fresh). I usually don’t review places but this place should not be in business with the crap they are giving customers. The only plus side was that the waiters were very nice. Unfortunately you could not pay me to eat here again.
Dinner here is always outstanding - one of the best restaurants in the area. Great food, wine, and cocktails. The many dining rooms in this historic building are beautifully set and the tables are nicely spaced. Service is both friendly, attentive, and at the highest professional level.
This was our first dinner at Dante and it was fantastic. Great outdoor ambiance and grill experience. The owner/chef personally asked about our meal and we look forward to returning again soon!
It was perfect evening...great food, music, service and introducing friends to Dante’s! They will be back as they loved it as much as we do.
We had a special dinner planned and I must say the evening was a disappointment.
Food: Overall the portions of pasta were huge, no-one eats like this anymore, also no taste to it.
The appetizers were bland and soggy (fried calamary)
Pasta was overcooked - definitely not al dente, one order was for linguini and seafood, a huge portion of spaghetti noodles were served with overcooked langoustines
Wild boar ragout was without any flavor
The dessert was a sad excuse for Creme Brûlée.
Summary: Very disappointing. We will not go back
The owner had a loud shouting match with staff and referred to himself as the 'blank, blank owner'. We were sitting upstairs and they were downstairs.
My family has been celebrating family events here for many years and once again, we were not disappointed. On a quiet Thursday night we had one entire room to ourselves. Chef Guiseppe's creations were wonderful as always and the service was very attentive. We were delighted with the Dover Sole and a veal special. Dessert and coffee were the perfect finish to a memorable evening which we look forward to repeating in the near future.
