Dante Ratings and Reviews
Food was very disappointing osso bucco tasted like diner food. No subtlety with a thick sauce and not much of it. The lobster pasta was tasteless. Not sure what happened here but I can tell you we will never come back. A shame because the setting is beautiful. On a positive note the martini and arranccini were very good
The wait staff worked very hard. We were quite impressed! The wait was long (but it was Marathon Sunday) and the food was great. There was an error with my order so the manager comped our bill. Parking was pricey in the hotel garage (but it seems to be everywhere). I would probably visit again.
I definately would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
The food was superb. And the wine list extensive. Also was able to have a California Brewed IPA with my brunch. Was definately a good place to eat. And their beer selection is also arranged to compliment most if not all the entrees.
Next visit to Boston will definately include a stop at Dante
Visited Dante for the second time in about 6 months. The food and service are great! First time, it was warm and we sat outside. Last time we went at night in March so sat inside. View is great to for sitting outside in warm weather and also great any time of year to get a night time view of Boston from the Cambridge side of the Charles River.
Warning! We chose this restaurant in part because of the menu posted on Open Table. When we got to the restaurant its menu bore no resemblance to what was posted. Beyond that the food was decent and the service attentive. Also, the view of Boston across the Charles at night can't be beaten.
Overall, food was very good. Arancini and Bolognese were the best items we had. Octopus was perfectly cooked but needed a bit more dressing up. Cut of the day (bavette steak) was very well seasoned but terribly chewy.
Cocktails were spectacular, as were the tap and wine lists.
Excellent service and a beautiful view of the Charles. Good date spot.
We love this place. Not only is the view spectacular, but the food is excellent. The service is fast, but not rushed. Our server knew the regular menu and the specials well and had some items to recommend. I had the Arctic char (which was perfectly cooked and seasoned) and my husband had the bolognese (which was excellent). We love the atmosphere, although there was a noisy group there at the beginning of our meal. After they left, it was quite pleasant! We have been here a couple of times and will return!
We had an early reservation to visit a friend who was home for Thanksgiving and was leaving early Sunday; we enjoyed a nice quiet time before dinner in the bar- ginger martinis were great. At dinner no complaints- bread was great, all meals, Rack of Lamb, the Arctic Char and the Duck Ragu were cooked perfectly. So nice to have a window seat overlooking the Charles and wonderful conversation.
Delicious! Loved the butternut squash soup -- it stayed hot the whole time I was enjoying it. So pleased that the vegetarian meal had everything (except the turkey). The helpings were generous, each dish was delectable. The apple and pumpkin pies were tasty. Only the ricotta pie seemed a bit dry. Loved the sparkling water; the decaf coffee was a bit strong. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The staff were wonderful. The service was good and the ambiance was warm and pleasant. Thank you for coming up with such a wonderful holiday dinner.
I like ambiance but this was just too dark at night. Limited menu and basil is in almost everything. A lemony basil that (if it was basil) tasted like cilantro in some dishes. Waiter and service was very good. It is in the Sonesta hotel which was a surprise. Wasn't exactly what we were looking for in a restaurant. But by hotel standards it was an interesting menu.
The food is excellent and a varied wine list. Unfortunately even though it was a quiet night in the restaurant, the service was slow and waiter inattentive. very long wait between courses in fact so long that we thought they forgot to put in our order but we could never find our waiter to check with him that in fact the order had been placed. lots of wait staff hanging around the bar but they never looked our way so could not flag anyone down and had to get up to get anyone's attention when we needed something. Be warned - validated parking ticket still will cost you $ 12.
Wonderful, light, and moist meatballs, exquisite arancini with truffled honey, creative and delicious peach with candied pistachios and gorgonzola, and fantastic duck ragu. Everything was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more. After we'd stuffed our faces, our terrific waiter told us the desserts were equally spectacular. Next time we'll need to save room!
This was the first time I had eaten at Dante's. I visited with a colleague because they had a large gluten free menu and he was looking for a place nearby that could accommodate his food allergy. Not only was the gluten free menu fantastic, the regular menu was equally as impressive. We both ordered the Duck Ragu, which was offered with both regular and gluten-free options. They also have a nice wine list including a few exclusive Italian wines, from which we ordered as well. The food and wine were excellent, as was the service. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and engaging, and the owner/chef personally came to our table to make sure the gluten free request was satisfied. I will definitely be going back to enjoy more of the menu choices, great service, and beautiful view of the Charles river from the patio.
Food was great, but service sunday night was sub-par. Waitress way too chatty, lots of loose ends, all plates delivered to the wrong people in a party of 3, a napkin removed and never returned. One side dish never arrived at all. In opentable instructions i asked for a birthday candle in oneo f hte desserts, that didn't happen.
My wife and I chose Dante's mainly because of the outside dining, I had been told that the food was average and the prices were a little high. We made our reservation for 7:45 and the hostess found us a table on the patio deck. She knew it was our Anniversary and said "I'll find you the best table for the special occasion". This table was against the outer wall of the restaurant with my wife's view of the city and my view of a door. It was a Sunday night and first come first serve so you take what you can get. Our waiter introduced himself and asked what we wanted to drink, my wife and I don't drink alcohol so we ordered a soda and water. This seemed to annoy our waiter and from that point on he was distant memory. Our appetizers came out immediately and we were pleased with both taste and proptness. Our food came out about an hour later, at the 45 minute mark the ghost as he is affectionately known to us came over and commented on our food not being out yet and quickly disappeared again. We tried to order more soda but no luck. Our food was as decribed average. We had planned to cheat a little but decided to pass and go to another restaurant for dessert. Our waiter, who had spent the entire night, trying to get an older couple to buy a bottle of wine gave us the bill and failed to mention that they validate parking at the front desk. All in all a very unpleasant experience on what should have been a beautiful night. I can forgive everything except for the service. The place was less than a quarter full and the waiter just didn't seem to care about the two casually dressed patrons out to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. We eat out often and I always find something nice about where ever we go so here is something nice, the view was spectacular at least for my wife.
