My husband and I came here for our 2nd anniversary. We were so thankful to be able to eat outside. It was so lovely. The food was amazing. I had duck breast and my husband had pork and it was so delicious. For an app my husband ordered escargot and it was better than the escargot we ate in Paris last month! The servers were very attentive. We would both dine here again.

Our dining experience at Dan's was wonderful as always!
Unfortunately, our only issue was that they did not have our reservation from Open Table recorded. It was Mother's day, and somehow they did not receive it. They said the thought open table had been "blocked" because of the holiday. Hopefully this can be avoided in the future, especially on holidays. Luckily, they had a table and could accommodate our party of 5 with no problems. We had a lovely dinner with my 97 year old mother!

Food and service were both top notch. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. The only thing we would have liked to see is a more seasonal menu. At the end of April the menu still had a lot of winter spice, sweet potato, etc. in the food selection.

Our latest dining experience here was an anomaly. We invited some friends from Scot Run to dine with us after we bragged about Dan's and the wonderful food and service we've had here. Unfortunately, only one of our group who the duck breast was very pleased with her order. Myself and our two friends ordered the evenings fish special which was marlin. It's very much like swordfish and is light and flaky when cooked properly. The three of us agreed that the marlin was overcooked and very dry. That was disappointing because one of my favorite fish dishes is swordfish and I know how tricky it can be to not overcook it. We finished up with some very good coffee and hot apple crisps. The service was still very good. We have had good dining experiences in the past and this will not keep us from dining here again. Sometimes these things happen. I just wish it didn't happen that night.

This was our second visit to Dan's at Green Hills. We decided to return for our anniversary dinner and brought our son and family along with us. Our food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Our son had the salmon and he said he thinks it is the best salmon he's ever had!!

Went here a few nights back - I'd highly recommend the sweet potato soup. But the SERVICE is what really went above and beyond. A highly-attentive staff that sets the bar high - even the owners were present and very visible. Don't come looking for a bar scene - the bar itself is quite small, but has an intimate feel and appears to be well-stocked. Highly recommended!

The presentation of the food items was excellent. I had the sweet potato soup with apple pieces, cinnamon, etc. The blending of the different flavors was so delightful. I was actually sad when I had completed eating it. My husband had the rack of lamb with the horseradish mashed potatoes, and I had the diver scallops. I took 2 of my 4 large scallops home with me so I could continue to enjoy eating them the following day. We both had dessert. George enjoyed his pistachio gelato with his wonderfully aromatic coffee. I ordered the chocolate cake with the fresh berries. I did not regret my choice. The chocolate cake was light in density and "melted in my mouth." I was very glad I had chosen to order it, for it was not overwhelming with regard sweetness. The entire experience was perfect for celebrating the 49th anniversary of our first date in addition to celebrating Valentine's Day.

Fantastic food and with great service! We will be back again after our initial experience of visiting Feb. 13th for Valentine’s Day. I highly recommend the day before as we were in the dining room with only 4 other couples.

Our second visit here was for my wife's birthday and we were pleased once again. My wife had the duck breast, which was a sizeable portion and she said it was very good. I had the wolffish which I had never had before and didn't know it existed. It has the texture of cod or halibut and similar taste. It was encrusted with pistachios which I personally don't think added anything to the fish. It included a delicious fig risotto and orange glaze. We topped off the meal by sharing a delicious cheese cake with fresh berries, decaf coffee and decaf cappuccino. The service was very good again which is one of the reasons we enjoy dining here. The atmosphere is cozy and homey and is good for a special occasion.

Our third visit since last fall and Dan's food, service, ambiance and overall experience remains outstanding. We've dined by the fireplace in cold weather and on the patio in spring and the facility and staff are just warm and welcoming in every season. Food is uniquely creative and flavorful. The chefs take advantage of seasonal and fresh ingredients in creating the menu. We especially enjoy the continental inclusion of a small "amuse bouche" bite, just another example of how Dan's seeks to make every dinner a unique and special experience. Country fine dining at its finest.

We've been to Dan's at least 5 or 6 times. It has always provided a fine dining experience. My only "complaint" is the price of a bottle of wine . While the wine list is very extensive, it is also expensive. For instance, the bottle of wine we had with our meal was $62, which I saw in the State Store for $25 the next day. I, and many others, consider a markup beyond 100% to be excessive (in this case 148%). Hence, the rating of 4 for value.

Otherwise, bon appetite.

This was our first time dining at Dan's and it won't be our last. We were greeted for our 4pm reservation and immediately seated. Our server Rebekah was a gem. She's friendly, helpful, and prompt. She came to our table after each course was served to make sure everything was alright and see if we needed anything else. We both started with delicious salads followed by a 5oz filet and tuna entree's. I asked for additional wasabi during my order and it was on the plate when it came to our table. Too many times you have to remind a server that you requested something additional or it came out of the kitchen not prepared the way you ordered it. Again, the courses were delicious. We finished by sharing an apple crisp w/vanilla ice cream, de-caf latte, and an espresso w/lemon peel. Our experience was excellent and we highly recommend dining here. We know we'll be back.

We love Dan's at Green Hills. Bill and Monir do a great job with the menu and wine list. We always enjoy our dinners there. We sat in the main dining area close to the fire to celebrate a birthday. I highly recommend Dan's for the food and great wine list at a reasonable price.

Arriving at the spacious parking lot of the farm house that houses the restaurant was a a wonderful start after driving in a drizzling rain to get there. We were started in the large, welcoming, dining room with an old wood burning fireplace. Unfortunately not cold enough to have a fire. The tables were nicely spaced for privacy, all with good views of the fireplace.
The escargot appetizer had a rich moderately garlic flavor with a bitter accent that accentuated the garlic and the grated Parmesan on top. The special mushroom ravioli with a braised beef sauce was rich and flavorful while light enough to please but not not heavy enough to interfere with the entrées.
I had the Wolffish with pistachio coating that was moist and appropriately mild in flavor. It was served over a roasted vegetable medley that was slightly sweet and had a toothsome texture that enhanced the fish. I was grateful that no starch component was served. My wife’s chicken with a subtle herbal sauce was excellent, moist, firm and flavorful.
Our Sauvignon blanc provided a palatal refreshing pause between bites.
The apple bread pudding dessert was rich flavored and fruit flavored with moderate sweetness. Made as a loaf and served as a slice left me wanting a crisp top for textural contrast.
The only less than stellar part of the evening was the service was not up to the standards of the setting or the food. The hostess seemed unable to put the menus she had picked up to help my wife off with her coat and hang it on the coat rack behind her stand. Our waitress was excellent at bringing the food and removing plates but seemed concerned with fast service, not the celebratory meal we desired. I had to ask for bread and then ask separately for butter. Small complaints tha were annoying and did not ruin the wonderful dining experience.
