Danji
At Danji and Hanjan we choose to use meat raised with no antibiotics or growth hormones. Our fish are caught wild and are not overfished and endangered. We try to use as much organic and local produce as possible and certainly do not use chemicals, such as MSG, to enhance flavors. No doubt these ingredients cost more but we believe the food we consume should be healthy and responsible as well as delicious.

Pared-down menu for COVID, but still offers their biggest hits. Don't skip the deep-fried tofu, even if you think you hate tofu. So glad they put the makkeolli back on the menu; it's a rice beer that is the best way to wash down the scrumptious food! Their menu changes a lot, so there's always a nice variety despite the smaller selection. Individual booths are also very nice for those (like me) who would prefer not to eat in the same space as others. And service is always terrific---friendly, thoughtful, discreet servers. There's a little sign you can flip over to get their attention, so you're never stuck in your little booth waiting for someone to come by. Very thoughtful touch, like so much at Danji.
It is so great to be able to eat here again and the little cabanas outside are perfect. I hesitate to rave about how great it is, because I want to still be able to get reservations.
You MUST order the sliders!
Thank you Danji for a wonderful meal.
Best Korean in NYC! Awesome awesome awesome. Nicest staff ever!
The best Korean food I have ever eaten. Our server was charming and attentive. We sat in a Covid cabana so my ratings on Ambience were low- however it was the safest and best location to eat during a pandemic so for that I give it 5stars.
The sauces were spicy but do not burn your mouth, unlike Thai food. The dishes were creative and beautifully presented.
The prices for the quality of food and presentation were extremely reasonable.
A lovely experience. Cant say enough great things about this restaurant!
Fantastic food, especially the short rib!
Consistently amazing food with great service, and cute atmosphere
Big fan of Hanjan and Danji but booked reservations and Danji never opened. Attempted calling to confirm and everything prior. Was a pretty cold day we waited outside 10 minutes prior to reservation and 20 mins after. We figured something may have happened and assumed positive intent.
The restaurant was closed! I even received a reminder about the reservation an hour before! And yet, when we got there, it was closed!
DO NOT RESERVE HERE!!!
Made a reservation at what was one of my favorite restaurants in the city for my 1st anniversary with my partner. We were both very excited looking at the menu during the day. Got there and the gate was down and the restaurant was closed!
Don’t know if they are out of business or what. It was incredibly disappointing. Even if they shuttered permanently a basic level of customer service would be to let the customers know.
UPDATE - Apparently they were only closed that night for some reason and don’t have the hospitality skills to respond to messages on multiple platforms.
Incredibly disappointing!!!!
staff was incredible and the food was absolutely amazing
Amazing food with great pricing. Definitely a must visit if you are in NYC.
Great food and attentive staff!
love everything about it. they have a nice outdoor set-up
Danji is a neighborhood favorite of mine. The food is SO good and unique. Staff is always very friendly and during this crazy time of COVID-19 they have lovely individual pods for each group to sit in with a heater so you can still enjoy and support them during the winter.
The menu offers only a limited selection compared with before Covid times but everything is still delicious.
Very friendly service and comfy warm outdoor booths.
We had a reservation for 8:00 pm and sat down at 8:40 pm after waiting for 40 minutes outside on the sidewalk in frigid temperatures for our table to become available.
They were apologetic and, when we finally sat down, comped us a couple of things, which we appreciated, but it was clear from looking at the experience of other groups with reservations that this was a pattern. Basically they take more reservations than they can handle and assume you’ll wait. This may work when it’s warmer outside or you can have a drink at the bar, but it’s not a great experience when temperatures are in the thirties and waiting inside is unsafe, not to mention illegal.
The food was great as usual but I’m not sure we’ll go back if this is how they handle reservations.
I am so glad to have Danji to have in our neighborhood. The food is always great, and the service is very attentive even in this very challenging condition in the pandemic.
It's a pandemic and so we were seated outside. The tables were appropriately spaced and it was a relatively quiet night. The service was good and fairly quick. The staff was fantastic and truly amazing. They definitely cared about their customers. The food was awesome.
Neighborhood gem with great and flavorful food in a stylish atmosphere.
Consistent delicious Korean food with some amazing modern twists with fantastic service
Absolutely loved my recent outdoor dining experiences at Danji! The staff was super nice to remember we were celebrating a birthday, and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the mushroom noodles, the bibimbap, the bacon kimchi rice, and the seafood scallion pancake (appetizer). Great cocktails too! The outdoor seating in the street is a decent setup, but the tent flaps are a little noisy when cars come by, so recommend sidewalk seating.
Delicious food. We were rushed because we had to make it to a show but the staff was very accommodating and brought everything out as quickly as possible. Would recommend.
Delicious kimchee, bi bim bap, eggs with cod roe spectacular. Tofu salad amazing. I’ve been at least 4 times and will keep coming back.
Nice fusion and creation of asian cuisine, good vibes
Awesome place with great food close to the theaters!
Party of 2 for Sunday brunch so we had dumpling soup and a Bimbap. Everything was very good and well presented. They are a bit heavy on the garlic, but I am sure there is plenty of people out there who like it.
I will go back.
We had a delicious lunch for our wedding anniversary and they surprised us with some sesame ice cream as a treat. Amazing food great service
Fantastic food!
Food was good to very good (fried chicken was very good) but the room is very tight and cramped - we were seated at a table for two but was constantly bumped by waitstaff and diners as they walked by, not an enjoyable experience. Guess we’ll just keep going back to Hanjan.
Way too loud in the back but a great place to have a cocktail and some amazing bulgogi sliders.
One of my fav restaurants!
Didn’t realize they were serving brunch, which is fine (but not as good as their regular menu). The server had zero knowledge of their drink menu and told us they had no bloody Mary’s, despite us watching the bartender make them. I would not return for weekend brunch service.
We had the tasting menu for 2. Everything was delicious but there was so much food. Should have paced ourself or the final courses.
Tasting menu was great. Flawless service
Great meal as always! Our favorite pre-theater spot.
Great food, nice people. Can’t go wrong here or at their downtown location, Hanjan
This Place is wonderful!!!
Food was amazing. We did the tasting menu and it was totally worth it to be able to try a number of different dishes.
Love Danji! They never disappoint. The food is amazing and abundant! The service is always spectacular. Get the tofu, the kfc and the bossom!
Pre show dinner. Amazing food. Great small plates. The food will expand in your stomach so the risk of overeating is high. But that is not always a bad thing :). Definitely recommend if you are looking for something different from traditional pre theater dinner fare.
