I would have preferred to sit in the main seating area. Way too noisy in the lounge. P
Impeccable from start to finish! Fantastic food with attentive and precise service. Chef Daniel even stopped by to say hello!
Amazing food and wine service. Terrific selection of good value bottles as well as very expensive ones. The sommelier has been excellent in helping us choose just the right one. This was our fourth visit and it is always a real treat!
The menus are the same whether in the lounge or the main dining room. The main dining room so much more elegant- really lovely. People do dress up quite a bit which makes it feel very special. The waitstaff is extremely professional and attentive. They cannot do enough for you as a client. They have obviously been very well-trained.
No matter what you order, it will be delicious and very artfully prepared. The menu changes with the seasons. For example, I just had a lovely venison dish and there were truffles available as it is white truffle season. You simply cannot go wrong at Daniel.
Simply amazing. Come here if you wanna eat super good food and be pampered. Should be considered a crime if you're in NY and don't pay it a visit :)
Again, the most wonderful dining experience. Marvelous service and fabulous food. Even though this is an expensive restaurant we always agree that it is worth the money for such perfection. And....the staff doesn't have the attitude that some other restaurants of this caliber do. Professional but personable...just perfect.
Amazing staff ! My husband and I met at he chef! It was an awesome
Experience! Very pricey for two of us however
The food is of course sensational. Sitting in the lounge was a bit more relaxed than the restaurant but the same service, attitude and food were the same splendid event. Go go go when you can
The food and service were as good as both ever get. The waiter, Kevin, was wonderful
the seating was nice. had enough space with the next table sitting next to us
food was also very delicate and flavor well balanced
service was excellent and very considerate
The place is super elegant with properly trained service personnel. Food excellent although portions are nouvelle and beautifully prepared.
We have been to Daniel several times. First time sitting in the lounge. I like the dining room better.
Food was perfect, service was amazing but the dining room just makes it a little more special.
Definitely coming back for more!
Food = fabulous. Service = impeccable. Presentation = spectacular.
One of the best meal that I have had. Daniel deserves a third Michelin star in my opinion as I see its overall performance at par with the three stars that I have visited in the past.
This was a wonderful experience. The food (we had the four-course prix fixe with a wine flight) was extraordinary, the service was urbane and polished without being stuffy--maybe the best we've ever encountered--and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant, comfortable and quiet, with well-spaced tables that allowed for easy conversation. Of course it's expensive, but it's worth every penny.
My wife and I had a great evening at Daniel. The food, service and ambience were perfect. The duck foie terrine, legumes d'ete, cochon de lait and cerise were perfect. While I had the four course meal, my wife ordered the waygu ala carte. All courses were prepared and presented perfectly. We are looking forward to our next visit!
Service was warm, friendly and personalized. They personalized the menu for my mother's birthday, which was a very nice touch, and beautifully decorated a birthday dessert plate.
I don’t expect the waiters and hostess to be so nice! Our waiter was OUTSTANDING in every way possible. Tact, charm, delight at us discovering the vibe. And then gave us a tour of the space and that was beyond!
I left there with the biggest smile on my face! And a full belly of great food!
Great service, taste, plating, and wine pairings! Definitely a two star Michelin restaurant!
The food was amazing and the service impeccable. What a wonderful experience!
Very disappointing dinner. Expected too much probably.
Service was perfect. Food not so much. Something was missing - taste.... Everything looked good and that’s where it ended, almost nothing was outstanding or really tasty.
Sorry Daniel, I don’t like to write negative reviews, but this is the truth. When I go to good restaurant, I expect tasty, good food. A lot of hard work was put into it, I can tell, but at the end if the food tasted bland, what is the point?
An all around excellent experience. From the first rate service to some of the finest food found in any restaurant. A must for anyone who values a 5-star experience.
My boyfriend and I had my birthday dinner here at the lounge. We chose the lounge because we wanted to modify our order options. We were seated next to a lamp which gave us more lighting.
I ordered the 4 course and my boyfriend ordered the 3 course. We were able to pick from a small selection. Everything was delicious and exceeded all expectations we had. Even better because it was my first time at a high end French restaurant, even better, my first Michelin star experience.
Our server Allan dis an excellent job making us feel comfortable. Food came at a reasonable speed, we were stuffed at the end! Our top too favorite was the Cashew dessert! Amazing.
We would definitely go back again. One downside was one person was talking a little bit too loud for the intimate setting at the lounge.
Amazing food and service. Our waiter(s) were extremely attentive and the food was perfect. Even got a tour of the kitchen and met Daniel. It was over the top incredible
Great the way they acknowledged our anniversary with a beautiful dessert and happy anniversary written in the plate
If you've never been to places like Daniel, Per Se, Jean Georges, Eleven Madison Park, the food is always the star, but the service is what sets them apart. You expect great service, and Daniel still seems to outperform expectations. You are waited on by several different people through your meal, and every one of them brings his/her own personality and expertise into your experience.
The tasting menu and the service were both outstanding. The only unusual thing I found was whoever designed the men's room sinks didn't allow enough room between the spout and the sink, so your hands end up touching the sink when you're washing up. Hopefully, this person is no longer designing sinks :-)
Highest recommendation for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or just to treat yourself.
We did not end up eating in the lounge. The couches were not really comfortable for eating dinner. We asked to be seated in the dining room and had the most amazing experience. It was everything you would imagine a Michelin rated restaurant to be. We did the 7 course tasting and I had the higher tier wine pairing. Every bite and sip were perfect. The wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable and explained every course and every wine. When I expressed a particular fondness for one of the wines I tasted, the waiter poured a little more... It was a special night for a special occasion and we were not disappointed.
This restaurant is extraordinary. The food, the service, and ambiance was and is absolutely spot on. My wife and I were so impressed with every aspect of our experience. The service staff was exceptional and the food was as well.
Amazing experience. Food was incredible. Service was impeccable. Even got to meet Daniel Boulud who was so very nice
A truly exceptional dining experience for the perfect birthday dinner! We went for the four course tasting menu and every single dish they brought out was really incredible. Prices are high but far from outrageous for the NYC market and certainly well worth the little splurge for a special occasion or date. They also offer an extensive wine list that to our surprise still offered a decent selection in the sub $200 price category. Was a little concerned that we might be neglected/dismissed in the “lounge seating” but that was absolutely not the case and all the waitstaff were highly attentive. We’ve finally found a NYC restaurant that lives up to the hype and will definitely be visiting again!
Food was incredible. Service was spectacular. Sommelier didn’t seem terribly knowledgeable or really care what we were looking for. He convinced us to go for a $300 bottle which was good of course but not what we were looking for. After the fact I was disappointed in myself for just going with his suggestion.
Probably the best meal we have ever had and that includes Europe! The lounge is the place to be since it is less formal than the dining room and very comfortable with exquisite service. This dinner was absolutely worth the price. Perfect meal, complimentary second dessert (birthday), warm madeleines and canelles to take home for breakfast. And as a bonus, a printed menu with our dinner and wine choices given to us upon departure. FABULOUS.
We are sorry to say that our first time at Daniel on Saturday June 22nd did not bring us the experience that we expected. The environment was cozy. However, as first-time comers, we are not familiar with your menu and how things work. It’d make us feel more at ease if a clear explanation of your menu was offered. We expressed our interest to start with the cocktails. Since both of us are not even social drinkers, we asked a waiter to explain the cocktails. He was kind and nice, but did not seem to be knowledgeable enough or able to provide what we needed to know. When we were given the dinner menu, knowing how it works seemed to be assumed by the waiter and it was not explained clearly. It’d give us a warmer feeling if we were asked if we had any questions. We did not realize how much time had passed. When our unfinished desert plates were taken away without asking us if we were done, we felt uncomfortable. We would very much appreciate if someone could let us know that the table was being waited. We would be very happy to cooperate.
Even though we did not feel welcomed and attended well, a staff/waiter who gave out bread that evening, made a big contrast of our experience. His smiles and warm attention whenever he came around our table gave us a sense of relief and comfort.
Halibut was possibly the best thing I have ever eaten!
Waiter was not gracious perhaps because we were not VIP clients even though in fact we are. Unfortunate that some personnel are jaded rather than elegant in their attitudes. Having attended numerous banquets and evenings there was disappointed.
Everything was absolutely stunning, can not recommend more
Everything was great with the observation that perhaps the lounge could use an update in decor....felt old and sort of damp
Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and it was a great from start to finish. Most importantly she felt fantastic and the team made her feel super. The food was good.. it's my first time to such an experience and the food.. while immaculate and superb in presentation and taste.. was huge by size as well (May be I'm just not used to this and the long waits between courses) but these are subjective. Overall 5 star or more for the way my wife was treated.. and for making our occasion truly special. Even their little giveaways...let the Daniel taste longer on after leaving the restaurant.
Excellent in every way. Food and service were 5 star
Excellent food and experience as always, although service was a bit slow this time, feeling a bit ignored compared to nearby tables arriving later, and initial wine taking far too long to arrive. Unusual for Daniel, but noticeable this time. Perhaps short staffed this evening?
