It had been several years since our last visit due to poor service and deceptive billing. But enough time had elapsed and we thought we would try again. Food was decent enough but the service once again was marginal and the table we received was right by the front door; hence constant activity. The host spent his evening on his phone playing games while the servers that were available tried their best to support all the tables. Seems like a bit more teamwork and planning would make the process more efficient and effective. Anyway, there are plenty of fine restaurants in town so we move along.
Great meat and three. Great choices. Made to order fresh. Oysters amazing.
We went for Easter Sunday after church. There was a set menu but there were five choices. We enjoyed our meals very much.
Food was good but this what i thought was going to be an Easter “Brunch”. Our reservation was at 10:15 am and there weren’t any brunch/breakfast options. Maybe shame on me for not doing more research but i would have just assumed that if they were taking reservations for as early as 10am then there would be some breakfast items on the menu.
I really liked it when Daniel George served 1/2 portions of some entrees. Wish they would add that choice back to the menu.
Absolutely delicious red snapper special beautifully plated and so flavorful it made the evening memorable. The right balance between attention and privacy from our server helped as well.
Great Tuna Tartare and Grilled Salmon. Like that they leave the shaker for an extra measure of my Martini.
Service very attentive but not intrusive. All in all a very pleasant experience.
To be honest I had high hopes for Daniel George but those hopes were not realized. To begin with, our waiter was less than stellar, not very friendly nor attentive. Highlights of the menu were not brought to our attention so we were left with having to ask questions about menu items in order to make our decisions. The chicken was dry and just average in flavor. I had the lobster ravioli and I would be hard pressed to find any lobster or flavor thereof in the dish. We really could have done a lot better over at Brio for a whole lot less money. And $12.00 per glass for sangria? Finally, the girl who bussed our table assumed we were finished and started removing our plates before we were finished.
Excellent food and service. Was really loud this time.
Nothing special food or service. Overpriced for the quality. Very noisy. Won’t be back.
As always, I much prefer to sit in the bar area of DG as it is more modern and fun. I wish they would update the main dining area, because it is stuffy and very quiet. However, once again, the food was fabulous. Fish entree was good but a little fishy. Other than that, soup, salads, cheese plate and crab claws were so, so good. Stuffed poblano pepper was unique and delicious.
I treated my adult daughter to lunch for her birthday . We had a lovely window table as requested when I made our reservations. Ben S. took great care of us - I loved how he was concerned that they had to make fresh lemonade for my Arnold Palmer and that it would take a few minutes to bring our drinks. Having freshly made lemonade was well worth the extra minutes of waiting. The menu choices were good. I had sautéed shrimp with vegetables and my daughter had the fried oysters- which were perfectly cooked and a good size. We shared the cream brûlée, which arrived with a candle ! This marvelous dessert was the ending to a perfectly enjoyed lunch ! Daniel George is a true gem of a neighborhood restaurant.
A great place for a decadent lunch. I can hardly wait to try DG at dinner!
Daniel George is my favorite restaurant for celebrating birthdays with my girlfriends. The menu is alway unique with fresh veggie selections but also keeping favorites. The food is very good with a nice presentation. The staff is always friendly, efficient and attentive. I feel the price is very competitive in comparison to other restaurants for lunch. A nice value.
Absolutely the best service. Excellent food. Great time.
Wonderful dinner! I cannot say enough about our server...cute curly headed blonde - wish I had caught her name! She was so helpful and upbeat. Food was very very good. The fresh bread and olive oil were so very good. As far as appetizers go, we ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Oysters Two Ways, which included Baked and fried oysters. The Fried oysters were incredible! The Tomatoes and baked oysters were good as well. Our entrees were the Panko Crusted Gulf Fish and the Lobster Ravioli. Delicious. We were too full to order dessert!
We are new to the area and have enjoyed dining here several times. We always had great food and service. We decided to bring friends the other night. Once again the food was great. Unfortunately the service was so poor we had to apologize to our guests several times.
Quality of lamb and fish could not have been better.Great food but place needs updating to enjoy the fine food they prepare.
We went there for Valentines Day. There was a set menu which had a variety of food to choose from. Everything was excellent; from the service to the wine. I highly recommend it.
It was great! wonderful experience
I’ve patronize this restaurant several times, and have had nothing but the best experiences- this visit was by far my least favorite- for $75 per plate, hot food is expected and should be the standard at a fine dining establishment. My wife and I had cold dishes- I, the beef tenderloin and she the tile fish. I kept quiet but my wife made mention of it to our waiter - within 3 minutes of returning it to the kitchen, another plate was at the table, WITHOUT any apologies. When your spending approximately $200 for a meal, the food and services should be without flaw. My wife’s appetizer, oysters Rockefeller were great until the she ate the last one which some how had what seemed to be a half of table spoon of salt in it. Ugh. Finally we asked to speak with a manager, but none was available, which is utterly unacceptable. Just not the experience you’d expected for a romantic valentine dinner after a longs day work.
We have been to this restaurant many times but this is the 1st time on Valentines Day. I used Open Table to make our Valentines reservation which the restaurant even called several days prior to confirm. We got there 8 minutes before our reservation time. The hostess told us our table wasn’t ready so to please have a seat and wait. We ended up waiting till 7:25 watching couple after couple get seated. Finally I walked up to the hostess and asked why ours was taking so long and it appears she didn’t know how to manage tables with reservations. She again asked my name and said I will be back with you. I felt so put out I would’ve left had my wife just wanted to stay. We finally got offered a bar table on Valentines when I had a reservation and we were early. The evening was sour to me after that even though the food was good.
Very disappointing Daniel George!!
Service was excellent (Matt). The food was ho hum. Not at all on par w my previous experience.
Valentine's Day lunch with my wife was great here. Server was nice and efficient. The food was great and served quickly. We will definitely be returning.
I had the airline chicken and my wife had the lamb. We've eaten there several times and she has had the chicken several times. This trip she wanted to try the lamb. The chicken is awesome and since she didn't order it I had too do so to get my fix. The set was new for us so it was worthy of ordering. Both were great and we'd have no issue ordering either again. We will visit again as DG is one of our favorite restaurants in the BHM area. Well done everyone!
DG is always good. The food is great and the service is friendly and professional. DG is one of those reliable restaurants that never disappoints.
Wonderful selection of meats and sides well prepared and served by friendly staff. An enjoyable lunch!
This is my favorite restaurant in town.
Flavors are sublime.
Wait staff great
Delicious food, good service and quiet enough to enjoy conversation
Always great food. Always good service.
This was a birthday gathering for a friend and we were a table of eight. Had a wonderful meal, wine and service. We arrived before they were actually open but seated us anyway and we enjoyed drinks until entire party arrived. They were most accommodating with the early arrival! Delicious dinner and fun time! Thanks to entire staff!!
Food was delicious. We all ordered different items and all agreed it was very good.
Service was a little slow because the waitress had too many tables to attend to at once. She was attentive and cordial but seemingly overworked.
We will definitely return.
Daniel George is a go-to restaurant for out of town guests as well as local friends or family.
Food is reliably great. Menu always suits my mood and diet. Wait staff is professional and friendly. Lovely setting. I am not a wine person but the ones with me who are seem very happy with the selections. It is always a great experience and a great way to show a neighborhood restaurant to out of town guests.
Fresh food, healthy depends on what you order, but plenty choices are so.
Great food. Great service. We will be back soon!!!
Slow service. Food below average for upscale restaurant.
Food was the best yet. Bar atmosphere is great. Main dining is stark, quiet and not my favorite. But crab claws app was wonderful, tuna appetizer was also delicious and roasted chicken entree was fabulous.
