Daniel George Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
We took a couple of friends to Daniel George because none of us had been before. The initial bar/reception area had a cool, english pub vibe but the whole restaraunt had a funny smell that my husband said reminded him of a basement. The server was very friendly and accomodating, but did not know the 3 drink specials of the day and when she brought the appetizers, left them and we had to flag her down for small plates. The food was very good, but the whole package did not warrant the high prices. This is a one and done for us.
It was > 1 year since my last visit and hoped for the best. It was NOT.Place is loud, cold and mediocre.Wine ordered was not served till after the main course was on the table and we had to ask for it.
Meat was warm and cooked to order, while the rice/veg were cold.
Not worth the money.
I took some younger colleagues to daniel george because it was a special occasion. I wish that I had not. The service was abysmal and my food was cold. I will never go back and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever.
Neighborhood non-chain fine dining, limited entrée menu, a bit pricey, my red snapper was very good, my wife ordered steak medium and it was rare, but they made good. Open dining area, and there was a very loud group of six next to us which got louder as the wine flowed. We noted on Open Table that we were celebrating our anniversary but no one here acknowledged. They need some fine tuning as far as customer service.
Good food and good service. However an extremely loud guest was seated next to us. Multiple other tables complained to the staff about the obnoxious person but nothing was done about it. Was not a pleasant experience because of this.
Everything was terrific. My Pork especially so. The
Cheese plate was interesting and very tasty. Service
Was very good attentive without being intrusive.
Only downside was a very loud party of six which seemed
To dominate the room. Very little DG could do to mitigate that though!
The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars was I had to send my steak back. It was overcooked. The one they brought out was Simply Delicious after correcting the mistake. All three dishes were absolutely wonderful. We did get seated at the bar and we arrived after having reservations for almost two weeks. But they were perfectly willing to move us when I asked to sit in the main dining room. Love Daniel George even if it is a bit pricey
We were so excited to eat here for a celebration and anniversary dinner after reading the reviews.
We made reservations and when we arrived we're seated in the bar area, near the kitchen. Probably one of the worst tables in the place.
A party of two came in right behind us without a reservation and were seated in the main dining area. That just started us out on the wrong foot - the atmosphere in the bar was a little awkward while the main dining room seems very nice.
The food was good but the service was lacking. It was slow and not well paced.
I was pretty disappointed.
Just love this Mountain Brook Village place. Matt was wonderful and knowledgeable . Food fresh and delicious. Great starters--we almost got 4-but decided we really wanted an entree. Salads so good with lots of interesting ingredients. Chose the pork which was perfect and tender. Very quiet and romantic. Have eaten in the bar before. We like it, too, as it's darker!
