Quiet place, good wine list, excellent food, and a nice place to go with friends with whom you would like to converse without shouting.

We took a couple of friends to Daniel George because none of us had been before. The initial bar/reception area had a cool, english pub vibe but the whole restaraunt had a funny smell that my husband said reminded him of a basement. The server was very friendly and accomodating, but did not know the 3 drink specials of the day and when she brought the appetizers, left them and we had to flag her down for small plates. The food was very good, but the whole package did not warrant the high prices. This is a one and done for us.

It was > 1 year since my last visit and hoped for the best. It was NOT.Place is loud, cold and mediocre.Wine ordered was not served till after the main course was on the table and we had to ask for it.
Meat was warm and cooked to order, while the rice/veg were cold.
Not worth the money.

We had a great business lunch. Great upscale southern food at a very fair price. We had a table in the bar area but there was plenty of room and it was quite for business discussions.

Great food and service. Just don't let them seat you in the bar area. Loud rude group of women in the bar made it hard for us to have a civil dinner conversation. Even with that said, this is a great place.

I took some younger colleagues to daniel george because it was a special occasion. I wish that I had not. The service was abysmal and my food was cold. I will never go back and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever.

I had the pleasure of taking a good friend of mine to dinner a week before her wedding to share private time away from the others. She and I had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. I've always enjoyed DG.

Neighborhood non-chain fine dining, limited entrée menu, a bit pricey, my red snapper was very good, my wife ordered steak medium and it was rare, but they made good. Open dining area, and there was a very loud group of six next to us which got louder as the wine flowed. We noted on Open Table that we were celebrating our anniversary but no one here acknowledged. They need some fine tuning as far as customer service.

Lovely meal at Daniel George. Food was amazing, as always. Wait staff was wonderful, our server was very well versed in the food and was incredibly helpful and accommodating. This restaurant is really a secret gem in Birmingham's dining scene.

They were not that busy when I was there so I did not understand why my meal was not that hot like it had been sitting around waiting to be picked up.

This is my 2nd time having dinner at the restaurant and the food is amazingly fresh. The dinner portions are small therefore an appetizer and dessert may help achieve a full or satisfying sensation.

Good food and good service. However an extremely loud guest was seated next to us. Multiple other tables complained to the staff about the obnoxious person but nothing was done about it. Was not a pleasant experience because of this.

We enjoyed the restaurant, but it is VERY pricey. Even without alcohol, plan to spend more than $100 without the tip. The food was very good, but not excellent in my opinion.

Everything was terrific. My Pork especially so. The
Cheese plate was interesting and very tasty. Service
Was very good attentive without being intrusive.
Only downside was a very loud party of six which seemed
To dominate the room. Very little DG could do to mitigate that though!

We always enjoy going to Daniel George. We've been twice in the last month and the food has been "spot on". I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars was I had to send my steak back. It was overcooked. The one they brought out was Simply Delicious after correcting the mistake. All three dishes were absolutely wonderful. We did get seated at the bar and we arrived after having reservations for almost two weeks. But they were perfectly willing to move us when I asked to sit in the main dining room. Love Daniel George even if it is a bit pricey

We were so excited to eat here for a celebration and anniversary dinner after reading the reviews.

We made reservations and when we arrived we're seated in the bar area, near the kitchen. Probably one of the worst tables in the place.

A party of two came in right behind us without a reservation and were seated in the main dining area. That just started us out on the wrong foot - the atmosphere in the bar was a little awkward while the main dining room seems very nice.

The food was good but the service was lacking. It was slow and not well paced.

I was pretty disappointed.
