D'Angelo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Had never eaten here before but it offered us a convenient location so we tried it. Hands down we enjoyed every bit of this place! And the service? They aim to please! We were a party of 8 and every time we needed something you’d turn around and someone was there to wait on you. Excellent food too!
This is a trip back in time to the mid 60s. D;Angelo's plays Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and the food is similar. They make the best veal parmigiana in town. Their grilled langoustini are great. But they serve real classics like clams casino, veal marsala, Italian wedding soup (most excellent). Their red gravy is flavorful and authentic. We eat there not infrequently and have for many, many years. They are completely reliable when it comes to their food. A great time warp that tastes good.
This was our second time here and I was disappointed this time. Our food was just as good as the first time but our service was terrible! The waiter never introduced himself and treated us like we were off the street! He did not even tell us the specials and when we asked his response was “it’s just....” like as if we wouldn’t like that! Later on we heard the other waiter telling the table behind us all of the specials! After they cleaned the table off he did bring out a piece of cake for my grandmothers 80th birthday so that was nice but I don’t think it was because of him. Earlier the other waiter had to tell him to
Come check on us. We will not be going back after that kind of service! This time we brought a party of 8 and they lost all of us. It’s a shame because I love the food and the owner seems super nice!
Everything over cooked -pasta mushy, vegetables mushy, way too much salad dressing drowning the salad and way too much oil used on everything. there were some vegetarian options which improve the review somewhat, and the flavors were good, just way overcooked. The ambience was good, like a friendly old time neighborhood restaurant.
Made a reservation for 7:30, we showed up on the dot at 7:30. The hostess was very rude, we told her we were there for a reservation and she snapped at us stating " you're gonna have to wait 10 minutes". We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for a table. We waited another 20-30 minutes to order. After we ordered we waited an hour for our food. The food was not bad but no better than Olive Garden. We got our check after waiting and waited for our cards to return to us after about 15 minutes. It was a poor experience and despite the curb appeal of the restaurant we will not be back.
The food was great, the service was great. The room we were seated was outdated and shabby. Early in the dinner the host came in and turned on the tv which no one was watching and was distracting. When we were having coffee without any warning the lights were lowered and strobe lights and a disco ball started turning our table into a kaleidoscope. As I walked out I received no thank you from the host even though monetarily we had been very good customers. If we were regulars I think our experience would have been different
service was outstanding! food delicious! owner came up and sat with us just to say hello. old school ambiance. more upbeat seating first floor at bar, lots of energy. quieter upstairs. waiter told us there was even more to see and rooms for larger parties. definitely going back. nice walk from patco. yummy drinks :)
We were in town to drop our son off at college and stumbled upon D'Angelo's on Open Table. We were very pleasantly surprised! The food and service were superb! D'Angelo's is a very cute and quaint restaurant! It was a great place for us to unwind after the stress of college dorm move in! Can't wait to return during Family Weekend!
Incredible Italian food! Great ambiance. The brothers are not only incredible hosts they are willing to spend time talking about their history, heritage, food and proper Italian football! This isn't a stuffy dinner, it's how dining should be. Our waiter has been there over 40 years and the bartender was wonderful. It is on my permanent list and will tell everyone going to Philadelphia it is a must!
The best italian food we have had in Philly. However the service was very slow and then once we did get our food, the waiter continuously tried to remove our plates when we put our fork down. For such a nice restaurant it was annoying to have part of the group eating, some of the group with plates removed and the waiter rushing us.
Having said that, we would give it a second chance because the food was outstanding!!!
