The whole place from top to tail feels dated. The decor, the paint and the tables feel 30 years to old. The menus boasts “best in philly” items, the reality is that that award was earned in 1996. The food itself is very simple but also under seasoned. There are a number of better Italian places just blocks from this location that provide a better menu and ambiance. I wouldn’t go back.

I ordered the tuna and peppers and a large D’Angelo salad. Both were skimpy.

Authentic Italian food- nice spot for dinner. The D'Angelo Salad was generous and flavorful- the fresh tomatoes were very good. The spicy Sicilian Sausage patties are a great choice for anyone who enjoys pork - juicy and flavorful. There were four patties, more than enough as an entree. Also shared the Philadelphia- famous meatballs - flavorful with a very full bodied gravy. A glass of house Abruzzo Montepulciano was a good choice at $9!

The wine was overpriced. Glasses of wine seemed like they were watered down. Food was subpar for the value.

This restaurant has a very South Philly Italian vibe even though its located a few steps away from the lovely Rittenhouse Square Park. If you are lucky, you'll catch owner Salvatore playing his guitar and singing traditional Sicilian/Italian songs. He's actually quite good, so keep your phones ready for videos and wave him over to your table. The staff is also very attentive and are willing to adjust the menu for special requests. We ate here for the first time with kids, teens and adults and we all were stuffed by the end of the meal. Its clear this is a popular spot for locals so I'd recommend reservations. There were lots of friends and families dining, everyone laughing, having a great time. I would come here again.

Went for a friends birthday. We pretty much had the entire upstairs to ourselves. The staff was very friendly, we truly enjoyed our experience.

We loved our meal and servers.
However, parking on Sat night was very difficult. We had to park in a garage for $25.

A visit to Philly would mean a visit to D'angelo's. Always a family favorite for old school Italian. Moved down south 8 years ago and hadn't been back since. Dinner last Saturday was like putting on your favorite warm cozy sweater. D'Angelo's stands the test of time.

Food is traditional Italian... Everything is good!!! If it’s your birthday ask the waiter to have Sal (the owner) sing happy birthday... We had a great experience...

This is an older place with traditional fare. If you are looking for traditional Italian food this may be your place. If you are looking for exceptional food, look elsewhere.

Had a memorable evening. Welcoming staff and owner. Old school feel with solid food and good service. Kids menu and Shirley temples made our 9 year old feel very welcome too. We will be back.

The food and service were both excellent. We walked in to a active restaurant with a great vibe, but were taken to a side room where we were the only diners for the entirety of our meal. We could hear all the sounds of a fun atmosphere, but didn't feel like they wanted us to be part of it. That said, their pasta and marinara side was top notch! We had the chicken parm and the veal marsala and both were excellent.

I’ve eaten at D’Angelos on a number of occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. The food was exceptional (from the antipasto down to the desserts) and the service by the entire staff was excellent. Great for groups or just a date night.

Bravissimo!

Well worth it that we are looking forward to be back again. This place is a family owned business going on 30?years! Surprisingly, at the end of our meal the owner was playing the guitar n singing to the customers:)

This place is just not up to the standard of Italian food in the East Coast US. I don't even know where to begin.

The prices on the wine list are out of control in a place that doesn't look like it's been updated since George Bush (the first one) was president.

Bread on table is the sorriest excuse for Italian bread I have ever seen. it was a step above wonder bread.

Their appetizer of fried calamari was the most paltry serving I've ever seen. I kid you not, 12 pieces. It was under seasoned are served on top of what looked like day old, wilted greens.

Their chicken parm was unremarkable. Forgettable sauce.

Veal milanese was a complete joke. A greasy battered cutlet with what looked liked chunky herbs in the batter (no matter you couldn't taste the herbs they were probably dried and lost their flavor) and served over 8 pieces (I counted) of what looked like a grocery store spring mix that was days old and one the way out. The greens were wilted and not because of heat because they looked like they been around too long.

We skipped dessert, why bother.

With so many excellent Italian restaurants in the Rittenhouse Square area, there is no reason to come to this one.

Entree served cold, too many platters contained small frozen shrimp.
Only plus, wait staff and wine.
I will not return.

We had lunch here for restaurant week and had a 3 course lunch; soup or salad, entree and cannoli for dessert for $20. Drinks, tip and tax were not included. We had to order from a special restaurant week lunch menu with limited entrees. I got the fettuccine Alfredo and it was excellent. My friend got chicken parm and thought that was good too. Strangely it came with roasted potatoes instead of spaghetti. I tasted a bite of potato and it was good but we agreed we would much rather have spaghetti than potatoes with chicken parm. The cannoli was made with ricotta cheese and tasted great but was on the small side. Overall we enjoyed our lunch at D'Angelo's.

This was a perfect spot for a 51st birthday dinner. We had a great meal then enjoyed the DJ and dancing after. Such a fun night. Definitely recommend for a celebratory evening or a date where you want dinner and dancing with and older crowd vs a big nightclub full of younger people.

We went for restaurant week after looking online at the special. However, when we sat down, we were notified that restaurant week was only valid during the weeknights. This was not mentioned on the website. Complete bait and switch. Also, the entrees were average. Nothing special

The food was just okay. But our water served us tonic water instead of sprite TWICE. Chicken parm could've been crispier to go with all the sauce it was served with. Lobster raviolli was ok. And the Fettuchini with crab and spinach was just okay. All in all it was a sub-par meal.

This place was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and it was a great suggestion. Everything we ate starting with the stuffed mushrooms and calamari was delicious. My wife had the cannelloni and I had probably the best spaghetti and meatballs I've ever had. Our waiter Alex was very down to earth and great to conversate with.

The food and service are always outstanding. The menu has good variety with classic Italian dishes and some house specialties that are as creative as they are delicious. The owners pride themselves in making all of their patrons feel like family, which is one reason why it has developed such a Kyla following for many years.
